How does Magic work in the Total War: Warhammer games?

In the Total War: Warhammer games magic is used on the battlefield. The whole system is called “Winds of Magic”. Power is your current amount of magic that you have available. Power reserve is how much more magic you can obtain during the fight. And the recharge rate tells you how much power you get every few seconds.

Characters use magic power to cast a range of spells on the battlefield. As the magic power reserves deplete, the magic recharge rate decreases. The lower the magic reserves, the slower the rate of magic recharge. Magic power reserves can be increased through character skills on the campaign map and abilities on the battlefield.

As you can see in the above list there are plenty of different lores of magic that you can use. Every race in Total War: Warhammer only has access to a few select lores of magic. You will have to play several or most of the races to really experience all types of magic.
