Introduction

Welcome to the Magicka Warden Build PvP “Frostcloak” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO.

The Magicka Warden PvP Build is optimized for Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds. This here is a light armor build optimized for high damage and mobility. We have a really nice health pool and a lot of max magicka. We are using Necropotence, Bright-Throat's Boast and Mighty Chudan to get the stats that you can see in the screenshot below.

  • Cyrodiil & Battlegrounds
  • Light Armor Destro/ Resto Build
  • Good Burst Damage
  • Good Sustained Damage
  • Good Healing
  • Good Resource Management

Changes from the previous version

This build was added with the Scalebreaker DLC, Elsweyr Chapter. The Freezer build got archived and can be found in the archive section.

Resource Management

With this build, a lot of sustain is already built in thanks to the Bright-Throat's Boast set in combination with the Double Bloody Mara Drink. As long as we keep up Blue Betty we will almost never have sustain issues on this setup. Degeneration also returns magicka every time you light or heavy attack a target. You can also do heavy attacks on the Resto Staff bar to regain a lot of magicka. On top of that, you can also use your potion to get an instant 7000 magicka on top of other useful stats. Being a Breton is also nice because it gives 7% extra cost reduction, this is not mandatory though.

  • Bright Throat’s Boast + Bloody Mara
  • Blue Betty
  • Degeneration
  • Heavy Attacks
  • Potion

Cyrodiil Setup

5x Necropotence, 5x Bright Throats, 2x Chudan, Breton with Disastrously Bloody Mara Drink.

  • Unbuffed: Out of combat
  • Buffed: Battle Spirit, Blue Betty and Potions were active

Gear

The reason we run Mighty Chudan is, so we get an additional ability slot because we do not have to use Ice Fortress. In addition, we also get more max health and extra resistances from Chudan.

In case you do not have access to Mighty Chudan, you can also run Bloodspawn as a Monster Set. If you do so, make sure to use the Ice Fortress ability to get your Major Resistances.

Skills Explanation:

  • Fetcher Infection: Very strong Damage over Time effect that needs to be on the enemy all the times. Also applies Minor Vulnerability to the enemy, increasing their damage taken by 8%.
  • Deep Fissure: This is your main burst damage ability. Deals a lot of upfront AoE damage, if you are on the offense, use this every 3rd ability.
  • Crushing Shock: Your main spammable along Deep Fissure, deals good damage and can also interrupt casting enemies. You could use the other morph if you want.
  • Shimmering Shield: This is one of the most powerful tools that you have access too, basically making ranged enemies useless against you, this can be re applied all the time and absorbs most ranged attacks plus it gives you Major Heroism, increase your Ultimate regeneration by a lot.
  • Bird of Prey: Passively gives 8% more damage and can be used to get 30% speed buff.
  • Permafrost: Decent Damage over Time Ultimate, also heavily snares enemies.
  • Degeneration: Another good Damage over Time effect, keep it on the enemy all the time, you get Major Sorcery and also better sustain if you light or heavy attack.
  • Harness Magicka: Your main defense ability, as long as you keep this up enemies can not touch your health. When you drop low it is important to keep this up alongside with Healing Ward.
  • Healing Ward: When you are very low on health, use this because it applies a big shield to you.
  • Living Trellis: Your main heal, one very important thing, if you are not full health but you have a shield on yourself, the Trellis heal will still proc and heal you up!
  • Blue Betty: Here for sustain, also gives Major Sorcery.
  • Life Giver: This is your defensive ultimate, if you are under high pressure, activate it.

In case you don’t know what what weaving light attacks is, make sure to check out the “Weaving Beginner Guide” which explains how to weave light attacks between abilities, aka animation canceling.

Important Info for Magicka Warden Build PvP

Buff-food

You need to run Double Bloody Mara, fairly cheap to get and works well in combination with Bright Throat’s Boast set.

Bloody Mara Drink new Food

You could even run this drink that you can get from the Witches Festival. It has extra Health Recovery (A LOT OF IT).

Disastrously Bloody Mara food

Mundus Stone

The Mage (Increased Max Magicka)

Race

All magicka based races work well for this setup. You can also check out my race guide for more information.

Breton (recommended, best sustain)
Argonian
Altmer
Dark Elf

Potions

Make sure to use Tri-Stat Potions with this setup, it provides you with the resources you need.

Tri-Stat Potion
(Health, Stamina, Magicka)
(Bugloss, Columbine, Dragonthorn)

Tri Stat Potion

Passives

Make sure to not forget the Medicinal Use passive from the Alchemy Skill-tree as it is one of the most important passives and many people forget to activate it.

Battlegrounds

For the Battlegrounds setup, we have to change buff food and the mundus stone. Because in Battlegrounds the Champion Points are deactivated, making it harder to sustain and our overall stats will drop a lot.

In case the buff food and mundus change is not enough, you can also run a Spell Cost Reduction Glyph on your Infused Jewelry Piece.

Buff Food

Instead of Double Bloody Mara we are going to use the Witchmother’s Potent Brew. This is also a drink and will work together with the Bright Throat’s Boast Set.

Witchmother’s Brew (Max Health, Max Magicka, Magicka Recovery)

Mundus Stone

Instead of the Apprentice Mundus Stone you want to use the Atronach Mundus Stone, this one gives you extra Magicka Recovery.
