Introduction

Welcome to the Magicka Dragonknight Build PvE “Valakas” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The “Valakas” build is made for PvE Trials, Dungeons & Arenas.

Magicka Dragonknights unleash their maximum damage potential in melee range. This time we use Spell Strategist or Mother’s Sorrow in combination with Perfect Mantle of Siroria which is a very strong setup. I will also list up a secondary gear setup with Burning Spellweave and Silks of the Sun that are also very powerful and a beginner setup.

  • Good Single target (ST) damage
  • Insane melee damage
  • High area of effect (AoE) Damage
  • Good sustain
  • Magicka Shields
  • Made for Trials, Dungeons & Arenas

Changes from the previous version

Added some more race options. Added explanation when to use Shadow or the Thief Mundus Stone. Shadow got a buff:

  • Shadow Mundus: Increased the Critical Hit Damage bonus to 13% from 9%. Note that this still will not affect critical healing.

Resource Management

With the Combustion passive, we get a lot of extra sustain when the burning status effect procs. On top of that we have passives like Battle Roar that restore resources when we activate an ability. Those two things make up most of your resource management already. In addition to that we are also using a Magicka Drain Enchantment on the back bar to also help us with sustain. Also make sure to pick up Spears or Bubbles form the healers to help with sustain. If that is still not enough you can always use Heavy Attacks to restore Magicka. We are using the Clockwork Citrus Filet Food that boosts all our stats including magicka recovery.

  • Combustion passive
  • Battle Roar passive
  • Magicka Drain Enchantment
  • Spears & Orbs from Healers
  • Heavy Attacks
  • Magicka Recovery Glyph (if needed)
  • Clockwork Citrus Filet (Witchmothers Brew)

Trials & Dungeons Setup

Gear

You will find 3 different setups here. Setup 1 is the preferred setup. For people that do not have all the gear yet can use the Setup 2 which is easier to obtain and beginners can use Setup 3.

  • Setup 1 is with Trial Gear
  • Setup 2 is without Trial Gear
  • Setup 3 is for Beginners

Single Target vs AoE

  • Single Target Fight: Use the new Spell Strategist set that can be obtained in Rewards of the Worthy or bought via Guildstore.
  • AoE Fight: Use Mother's Sorrow. Spell Strategist is purely Single Target so it is not of much use in AoE fights.

Gear Setup 1

  • Spell Strategist: This is a very strong single target set. However, in AoE fights you better run Burning Spellweave or Mother’s Sorrow for more AoE damage. Also, the Spell Strategist extra spell damage does not show on the character screenshot.

Rotation & Skeleton Parse

On most fights try to pre-buff yourself with Flames of Oblivion before you engage:

Flames of Oblivion > LA > Rearming Trap > LA > Eruption > LA > Elemental Blockade > Weapon Swap >
LA > Burning Embers > LA > Engulfing Flames > LA > Lava Whip x5 (With Light Attack) > Weapon Swap >
LA > Elemental Blockade > Weapon Swap >
Burning Embers > LA > Engulfing Flames > LA > 2x Lava Whip (With LA) > Weapon Swap >
Restart

In case you use Channeled Acceleration, make sure to use it when the boss is moving to another position, so you can focus on your rotation while the boss is stationary.

LA = Light Attack

Gameplay

Dragonstar Arena full run on Magicka Dragonknight.

Dragonstar Arena vet with Magicka Dragonknight! Dragon Bones DLC Elder Scrolls Online ESO

Blackrose Prison Arena

This section of the build is dedicated to the Blackrose Prison Arena, it is a bit different compared to the usual Trial and Dungeon setup due to how the Arena works and because you fight such a huge amount of enemies each wave.
