Introduction

Welcome to the Magicka Dragonknight Build PvE “Valakas” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The “Valakas” build is made for PvE Trials, Dungeons & Arenas.

If you are new to Magicka Dragonknight or ESO please make sure to also read the New Player Beginners Guide and the Magicka Dragonknight Beginners Guide, there are a lot of Beginner Guides that you can check out.

Magicka Dragonknights unleash their maximum damage potential in melee range. We are using the False God’s Devotion set in combination with Mother’s Sorrow, you can also find beginner setups in case you do not have access to these weapons.

  • Good Single target (ST) damage
  • Insane melee damage
  • High area of effect (AoE) Damage
  • Good sustain
  • Magicka Shields
  • Made for Trials, Dungeons & Arenas

Changes from the previous version

Changed skill and rotation for the Scalebreaker DLC.

Resource Management

With the Combustion passive, we get a lot of extra sustain when the burning status effect procs. On top of that we have passives like Battle Roar that restore resources when we activate an ability. Those two things make up most of your resource management already. In addition to that we are also using a Magicka Drain Enchantment on the back bar to also help us with sustain. Also make sure to pick up Spears or Bubbles form the healers to help with sustain. If that is still not enough you can always use Heavy Attacks to restore Magicka. We are using the Clockwork Citrus Filet Food that boosts all our stats including magicka recovery.

  • Combustion passive
  • Battle Roar passive
  • Magicka Drain Enchantment
  • Spears & Orbs from Healers
  • Heavy Attacks
  • Breton passives
  • Clockwork Citrus Filet (Witchmothers Brew)

Rotation & Dummy

In case you don’t know what what weaving light attacks is, make sure to check out the “Weaving Beginner Guide” which explains how to weave light attacks between abilities, aka animation canceling.

Rotation

On most fights try to pre-buff yourself with Flames of Oblivion and Channeled Acceleration (if you use it) before you engage:

Unstable Wall of Elements > LA > Scalding Rune > LA > Flames of Oblivion/Barbed Trap (change every rotation) > Weapon Swap >

Burning Embers > LA > Engulfing Flames > LA > Degeneration > LA > Soul Splitting Trap > LA > 2x Molten Whip (with Light Attack) > Weapon Swap

Restart

  • On the back bar, every 1st rotation use Flames of Oblivion, every 2nd rotation use Barbed Trap, that way you keep using one every rotation, because they have a longer duration then most other skills.
  • In case you use Channeled Acceleration, make sure to use it when the boss is moving to another position, so you can focus on your rotation while the boss is stationary.

LA = Light Attack

Target Skeleton

This video is from LIKO’S Youtube Channel, he does a full 21 million Target Dummy Parse on the Raid Dummy. The video is a fully optimized Target Dummy Setup, so it will be different from the Raid/Dungeon build here!
