Editorial Guidelines
At Alcasthq.com, we are committed to delivering the highest standard of written and visual content for players of The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) and other MMOs. These editorial guidelines explain how we research, produce, and maintain our content, and the standards we hold ourselves to across everything we publish.
Our Editorial Mission
We create performance-tested builds, system guides, and game tutorials aimed at players of all experience levels. Every article, guide, and build is written or reviewed by expert players who actively engage with the content in-game.
We believe in content that is:
- Accurate – built on in-game testing and verified data.
- Clear – structured with the player in mind, supported by visuals and step-by-step logic.
- Up-to-date – reviewed and updated regularly based on game changes.
Content Creation Process
- We often prepare a draft page of content we want to create.
- Guides and builds are tested directly in-game.
- We use patch notes, developer announcements, and live gameplay feedback to inform of changes.
- Each new game cycle/patch triggers a full review cycle for key builds and mechanics
We incorporate community feedback, especially from our Discord server, to refine and improve content in response to real player experiences.
Editorial Team and Expertise
Our editorial team is made up of long-time MMO players, competitive raiders, PvP specialists, and theorycrafters. Content is created or reviewed by:
- @Alcast – Founder of AlcastHQ, veteran ESO player and content creator. Specializes in builds, system breakdowns, and complete PvE/PvP meta coverage.
- @Edenprime – Focuses on ESO guides, update breakdowns, and news coverage. Passionate about making complex topics accessible.
- @Andrew – Covers builds and optimization strategies for a wide variety of systems including economy, crafting, and endgame prep.
- @Fengrush – High-end PvP player and strategist. Creates elite competitive builds and shares tactical insight from real PvP environments.
Each contributor is listed on their respective author page, and their expertise is reflected across the content they maintain. We do not allow anonymous publishing.
Fact-Checking and Sources
We put a lot of effort into making sure the information on Alcasthq.com is accurate and helpful. Most of our builds and guides come straight from our own in-game testing; we play the content ourselves and fine-tune setups until they work well in -game.
To double-check the numbers and changes, we also rely on:
- Official patch notes and updates from various Game Studios.
- Direct gameplay observations across dungeons, trials, and PvE/PvP environments.
- ESO-Hub.com — a site we co-developed, for item sets, skill data, and drop locations.
We don’t publish anything based on guesswork. If something is still in testing (like PTS updates), we clearly mention that it’s subject to change.
Visual Support
We include lots of visuals in our guides because we know how much easier it is to follow something when you can see it. All screenshots, whether it’s skill bars, gear setups, or combat rotations, are taken directly from our own characters in-game.
You’ll often see:
- Screenshots of ingame stats from characters.
- Different skill setups from ingame characters
- Any other helpful ingame screenshots that will make the guide more helpful to users.
These visuals aren’t just for show, they’re there to help you replicate builds exactly and understand how everything fits together in actual gameplay.
Content Maintenance and Updates
We regularly update our content based on the live state of the game. Our update process includes:
- Full content reviews after each patch or balance update
- Patch-specific changelogs and update dates on build pages
- Retiring outdated or non-viable builds to prevent confusion
This ensures that our recommendations reflect what actually works in-game, not just what used to work.
Corrections and Feedback
If a user identifies an error, outdated suggestion, or inconsistency, we take it seriously. You can:
- Report bugs or incorrect info via the Discord feedback channel
All legitimate factual corrections are reviewed and, if accepted, updated within a reasonable timeframe.
Use of AI Tools
We do not use AI-generated text for any gameplay-related content. While AI tools may assist with formatting, outlines, or support pages, every guide, build, and tutorial is written or approved by a human with years of in-game experience.
