Welcome to the Stamina Warden Build PvE “Guardian” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The Stamina Warden Guardian Build is optimized for Trials, Dungeons, Blackrose Prison Arena and Maelstrom Arena.

Stamina Wardens are one of the top tier damage dealers in its current form. Their single target dps is amazing and the AoE dps is second to none thanks to their toolset. We are using a Dualwield and Bow setup to achieve the best results as you will see below. The gameplay for this build is very fast paced and fun. Resource management is good due to the available skills Wardens have, which you will find out more about in the resource management section of this build. On this page you will find out setups for Trials, Dungeons, Maelstrom Arena, Blackrose Arena and you can even play Solo with this build if you would like to.

  • Warden Class
  • Medium Armor build
  • Dualwield & Bow setup
  • High Single Target damage
  • Crazy AoE damage
  • High sustain
  • Trials & Dungeon
  • Blackrose & Maelstrom Arena

Changes from the previous version

Stamina Wardens got a huge overall buff to damage and sustain. The Bull Netch gives you more resources over the same period of time and abilities like Subterranean Assault and Cutting Dive got a cost reduction, which leads to overall better resource management on the class. On top of that the Advanced Species passive got a 1% damage increase, so instead of 2% it does now increase 3% of your total damage per Animal Companion ability slotted.

Bird of Prey now passively grants 8% increased damage, you want to make sure to have it slotted on both bars or at least the front bar for the damage boost.

  • Updated Champion Points to 810 cap, also added a 600 CP setup.
  • Added Blackrose Prison Arena setup section
  • Added Gameplay section
  • Now that we use Blue food, we swapped to a 7 medium armor setup.
  • Weapon Enchantments order changed and traits of weapons changed.
  • Optimized Rotation

Resource Management

Bull Netch is the Wardens best friend, it restores a lot of Stamina, make sure to keep it up all the time. . You also want to make sure that Spears or Orbs are used by your healers to activate the synergy for resources. I recommend being a Redguard because you will get the best sustain. You have more options, you can also use Stormfist as main Monster Set to gain another Stamina Recovery bonus or Vicious Serpent set which will give you cost reduction on all skills and unlimited sustain on trash packs.

Overall, since the Warden rework in Murkmire, certain abilties like Sub. Assault and Cutting Dive cost less and the Bull Netch gives you increased resources, so sustain got a lot better and therefore we can even use blue Health & Stamina buff food.

Trials & Dungeons Setup

  • Buffed: Weapon Damage Enchantment, Advancing Yokeda, Minor Toughness, Weapon Power Potion were active in the screenshot.
  • Unbuffed: Raw stats when not in combat.

You will find 3 different setups here. Setup 1 is the preferred setup. For people that do not have all the gear yet can use the Setup 2 which is easier to obtain and beginners can use Setup 3.

  • Setup 1 is with Trial Gear
  • Setup 2 is without Trial Gear
  • Setup 3 is for Beginners

There are a lot of good Stamina Sets available, you can find more viable stamina dps sets in this Stamina DPS Sets Article. I also elaborate on specific sets that are often used in this article to give you a bit more insight as to why they are used.

Gear Setup 3 Beginner

This setup is dedicated to people that have not had the chance to farm the necessary gear for the maximum damage potential. All the gear here is either craftable or cheap to get in a guildstore. Make sure to ask a friend to craft Hunding’s Rage and Night Mother’s Gaze. Agility jewelry can be obtained in the Guildstores. I do recommend having around 18k health (with buff-food). You can buy cheap Agility jewelry with healthy trait to reach this value if you want.

Important Info for Stamina Warden Build PvE

Braised Rabbit with Spring Vegetables (Max Health, Max Stamina)

Mundus Stone

To reach the maximum penetration level in a raid or dungeon, you want to use the Lover Mundus Stone.

The Lover (Increased Physical Penetration)

If you want to learn more about the different racial passives that each race offers, check out my Race Guide which explains everything in detail.

All into Stamina

You can also find the rotation showcased in the Build Video of the Stamina Warden Build “Guardian”. The most important thing for every rotation are the Light Attacks. Players loose most dps by not correctly doing Light Attacks after each ability. Light Attacks deal a huge amount of damage and they also get enchantments to proc on your weapons.

  • Make sure to keep up the Bull Netch at all times, otherwise your sustain will plumit.
  • Activate the Ultimate whenever it is ready on your front bar.

Endless Hail > LA > Rearming Trap > LA > Razor Caltrops > LA – Poison Injection > Weapon Swap >
LA > SA > LA > Rending Slashes > LA > Cutting Dive > LA > SA > LA > Cutting Dive > LA > Cutting Dive > LA > SA > LA > Weapon Swap >

LA = Light Attack
SA = Sub. Assault

The goal with this rotation is to get 3 Sub. Assaults off per rotation on your front bar. Most important are the Light Attacks, you really need to make sure to get all Light Attacks in, otherwise your dps is going to drop a lot.

There is another rotation that will give you around 500-1000 more dps, but requires a lot of extra bar swapping. Therefore I recommend using the normal rotation in a trial, but if you are up for the challenge you can also try this rotation. This rotation has 4 Sub. Assaults per rotation, opposed to the normal one which only has 3.

SA > Light Attack > Weapon Swap >
Endless Hail > LA > Rearming Trap > Weapon Swap >
LA > SA > LA > Weapon Swap >
Razor Caltrops > LA > Poison Injection > Weapon Swap >
LA > SA > LA > Ultimate (if ready) > LA > Rending Slashes > LA > SA > LA > Cutting Dive > LA > Netch > LA >

As you can see, usually immediately after swaping bars we do an ability and not a Light Attack, this is because we do the Light Attack on the front bar because it hits harder and the animations transfers better to the other bar so you have no cooldown of applying the next ability on that bar, which usually is Endless Hail.

Skeleton Parse

I am going to standardize most of my dps tests and therefore will include, the uptimes can varry a bit:

  • Minor Vulnerability (8% more damage while enemy is concussed) has an average uptime of around 75%
  • Off Balance (10% more damage by Exploiter Perk in CP is active) has a max of 25% uptime
  • Energy Orbs to showcase the sustain of the class in a trial
  • Minor Berserk (8% more overall damage)

In this parse I also had Minor Savagery buff active from the Nightblade Healer which gives me 6% weapon critical.

Stamina Warden [60k DPS] on 6mil Target Dummy

Overall the dps of Stamina Wardens greatly improved thanks to all the good changes to the setup. With all the extra sustain we can swap to blue food Max Health Max Stamina which also increases survivability because we have more Max Health on top of the Minor Toughness that Wardens have built in.

Stamina Warden Build PvE Guardian

Blackrose Prison Arena

This section of the build is dedicated to the Blackrose Prison Arena, it is a bit different compared to the usual Trial and Dungeon setup due to how the Arena works and because you fight such a huge amount of enemies each wave.

  • Optimial Gear Setup
  • Alternative Gear Setups
  • Skill Setup

Optimal Gear Setup

  • Vicious Serpent is the perfect set to increase your sustain by a lot and allows us to easily run blue max Health and max Stamina food.
  • Twice-Fanged-Serpent is needed because the tank can not debuff all monsters all the time so the extra penetration from that set really helps to increase the overall damage.
  • Stormfist Monster Set is a very good choice in Blackrose Prison Arena as it increases your sustain and deals really nice AoE and Single Target damage.
  • We run full Robust jewelry to help with the overall sustain in the arena. If you want you can run Infused but it will make sustain tougher.

Alternative Gear Setups

As Bow Backbar Weapon you should optimally choose the The Maelstrom's Bow, if you do not have access to it I can also recommend the The Master's Bow.

A lot of good combos that work elsewhere also work in the Blackrose Prison Arena, most important is that you have enough sustain to kill off all those trash pack waves that get thrown at you.

Because of the huge amount of trash monsters that gets thrown at you, you need to make sure to have a AoE damage Setup. Therefore Steel Tornado is your best friend in combination with Sub. Assault and all the AoE DoTs that you have on the back bar.

Like in the rotation before, make sure to keep up your back bar DoTs, especially Endless Hail and Razor Caltrops. Sub. Assault should also be used often because it does not cost a lot to cast, deals a lot of AoE damage and applies Major Fracture to the enemies reducing their Physical Resistance by 5280.

Maelstrom Arena

We have to adjust some things to be able to successfully complete veteran Maelstrom Arena. I highly recommend farming Vicious Serpent as it gives the best sustain in Maelstrom arena. I also recommend being at least 500+ CP, if you are lower it will get pretty difficult for stamina setups.

Crushing Weapon vs Cutting Dive: Both skills are viable so you can pick either one. I like Crushing Weapon as it also has a small heal attached to it.
