How to Play Yujin in The First Descendant
Yujin is one of the only healers in The First Descendant. The main problem with this character is that a dedicated healer isn’t really needed in any content. He has good transcendent Modules that also allow him to change into a damage dealer, so he can be useful for mobbing, but won’t outperform most. You can think of Yujin’s Mobbing Build as a worse Freyna Mobbing Build with extra steps.
Yujin’s Equipment: Make Or Break It!
To unlock Yujin’s full potential, you need the right Weapons, Reactors, and External Components:
- Modules: Selecting the right Modules boosts your character’s power the most; this is very important and changes depending on what build you use.
- Ancestor Modules: Having a good Ancestor module with the right perks is key to maxing out your damage potential.
- Weapons: You need to have a maxed-out weapon for Yujin to be effective. See the Best Weapons for Yujin section.

Yujin Mobbing Build
- Yujin Mobbing Build Type: Used in any hard content that requires AOE damage.
- Yujin´Mobbing Build Focus: Maximizes damage against groups of enemies with AOE damage.
The Yujin Mobbing Build is a non-crit-based setup. The Proliferating Allergy transcendent module changes Yujins skills to deal deal damage when the effect ends, it also spreads to other enemies.

- Yujin Healer Build Type: This build specializes in healing and supporting allies during Colossus fights.
- Yujin Healer Build Focus: Focuses on healing and supporting allies.
The Yujin Healer Build can be useful for fighting Colossus bosses, especially Wall Crasher for example because you are a team of 8 and players on the ground often struggle to stay alive!
With the first and fourth skill you buff the DPS of your allies by buffing their skill power. Make sure to stay close to your target with the first skill, you need to stay close to keep the tether active.

Superconductive Cooling Units (Needed to Reroll perks): Ancestor Module: If you don’t have an Ancestor Module, you can add a HP module there for extra survivability. Otherwise I recommend an Ancestor Module with:
- Skill Critical Hit Damage
- Singular Power Boost Ratio
- Skill Cooldown
- Max Shield (Negative)
Ancestor Module: What to Replace and Why
To slot an Ancestor Module effectively, identify existing modules that share the same primary stat. By replacing a standard module with an Ancestor version that offers similar values, you maintain your core build while gaining its additional unique perks as a ‘free’ bonus.
- How to: Replace a standard module with an Ancestor Module that mirrors its main perk.
- The values should be close; you preferably don’t want to replace a 100% with a 30% value.
- Example 1: If your Ancestor Module provides Skill Critical Hit Rate, replace Skill Insight.
- Example 2: If your Ancestor Module provides Max HP, replace Increased HP.
- Example 3: If your Ancestor Module provides Skill Effect Range, replace Skill Expansion.
- Result: All other perks from the Ancestor Module will basically be a “freebie” and improve your build!

As long as the Ancestor Module reaches a similar value to the one you’re removing, every additional stat on that Ancestor Module becomes a “free” bonus for your build.

You level up Arche Tuning in the Sigma Sector Dropoff Operation. Mutant Cells also drop there with a small chance.

Selecting the best reactor for Yujin in The First Descendant can significantly enhance his abilities, allowing you to maximize his effectiveness in various scenarios. Not only does the reactor determine your skill damage, but it also gives additional secondary benefits through modifiers.

How to find the Location of Reactors
Reactor drop locations change every day. Not many players know this and get confused. Now, there is a reactor search function in-game. Go to the map and press on Difficulty Level Rewards. In here, you can see where all the reactors currently drop.
Note: It is possible that not all reactor types are currently dropping. You have to come back and recheck every day.
If your specified reactor drops in an area, you go there and farm any missions and monsters (Preferably missions with lots of monster spawns). There will be plenty of reactors dropping from monsters all over the place, any monster works. It will take a while to get a good reactor!
Best External Components for the Yujin Build
Here is the best external component set that you want to run with Yujin:
- Yujin Mobbing Setup: 4x Enlightened Mage Set
- Yujin Healer Setup Group: 4x Circulation Set
- Yujin Healer Setup Solo: 2x Enlightened Mage Set, 2x Shell Crusher Set
Important substats that you want for the components, these are locked per component types:
- Auxiliary Power: MP Recovery Out of Combat & Max HP
- Sensor: Max MP & MP Recovery in Combat
- Memory: MP Recovery Modifier & DEF
- Processor: Any stats are fine.
External Component Cores: Always go with Max HP & DEF.
Inversion Reinforcements Setup for Yujin
You can find the Inversion Reinforcements in the inventory, located on the bottom left side. This changes with every new season and needs to be leveled up again.
At max level, you have unlocked everything. While the last perk is always active in each row, you can only slot three additional perks at the bottom. Here is what you want to prioritize:
- Skill: Perk 1.
- Weapon: None.
- Recovery: Perk 1.
- Survival: Perk 2.
- Season: None.

For Yujin, we want to be using the Power Beyond Trigger Module for his Mobbing Setup and the Particle Conversion Emitter for his Healer Setup.

The First Descendant Yujin Skills Explained
This section will explain the skills available to our Yujin Build in the First Descendant, how each skill works and the best ways to use them.

Smooth Grapple Hook for your Yujin Build
Using the standard Grapple Hook in The First Descendant can be a pain, and it feels kinda frustrating at times. Don’t worry, there is a way better alternative that will make it a joy to use the grappling hook!
It is called the Mid-Air Maneuvering Sub Module. I use this on all my The First Descendant Builds because it improves grappling by so much.
With this Module, you can attach your Grapple Hook to anything, even air! That means you can simply aim towards the sky and Hook up your grapple hook there for guaranteed fast movement!

Yujin’s Story in The First Descendant
The First Descendant Yujin, a doctor at Albion’s only civilian hospital, found himself serving as a medic on the battlefield, where life always hangs in the balance, all because of his mother. After declaring her own intent to serve as a medic, she also submitted an application to HQ on his behalf.
Yujin wanted to scream in frustration over his enlistment, which was decided upon without his consent. Given his nature as being particularly lazy and quick-tempered, he was hardly the type to embrace military life earnestly. His mother always disapproved of this about her son, which often led to countless arguments. It would get to the point where even Medical Corps Captain Gley would throw her hands up in resignation while trying to mediate.
“Then you treat ’em, mom. Nothing I do seems to satisfy you anyway. I don’t see why I should bother saving those who have no hope. I’m not sure why I have to make that much of an effort!”
As soon as Yujin finished speaking, he was met with a hard slap. “Because you’re a doctor! It’s your job to save people until the very end!” Just as he was about to respond, his mother hurried away upon hearing news of Vespers force casualties flooding in. After the argument and the slap, Yujin was initially silent but soon felt overwhelmed with regret when his anger faded. He decided he would apologize when his mother returned. However, he learned that his mother, as well as the medical unit members, had become casualties as well and rushed out to the battlefield.
