In this ESO PVP Tier List Guide we are going to take a look at which class and setup are best suited for PVP. The ESO PVP Tier List focuses on solo and small group play and is aimed at new players. Please keep in mind that every player might have a different choice of build, therefore it is always good to get several opinions.

ESO has a huge variety of builds thanks to a huge selection of skills and sets to choose from. If you are interested in community-created builds you can visit the ESO Hub Builds Overview Page.

The Build vs The Player

Copy-pasting a good build won’t automatically make you a good pvp player but it will definitely help to get on the right track. Movement, line of sight, rotation and combos are what will get you lots of kills in ESO PvP. Of course, experience is also important, knowing all classes will help you understand what combos your enemies can pull off and therefore you will be able to counter them better.

The PVP Tier List for ESO

We will take a look at the top 5 setups in this ESO PVP Tier List. These are generally the better picks for a new player because they are easier to learn than other setups. Especially ranged setups are often preferred for new players because you won’t have as much pressure on you compared to melee setups and you will get an overall better overview of the battlefield.

  • Score Rating:
    • Best = Best at what it does

Should you care about the PVP Tier List as a New Player?

As a new player, it is recommended to pick one of the setups higher on the list. This will make it easier to get used to the game. Later you can swap to a more difficult class to play. If you are a good player you can make any class and setup great, but for the start pick one of the higher tiers.

The most important thing you can do as a new player is joining a guild. This will make playing ESO a lot easier and you will learn the game a lot faster.

ESO PVP Tier List – Class Comparison

In this section of the PVP Tier List for ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) we are going to take a quick look at the different setups and why they are listed at their current position.

1. Magicka Sorcerer

Damage 90
Range & Mobility 95
Self Healing & Defense 100
Sustain 90

Magicka Sorcerers have always performed well on the battlefield in Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds thanks to their high mobility, great shielding and good ranged damage. It is also one of the easier classes to learn and can do pretty much any activity in the game. The Magicka Sorcerer has powerful abilities such as Streak, Hardened Ward, Crystal Fragments, Critical Surge, Dark Conversion, Daedric Minefield, Haunting Curse and many more.

You can check out the Streak Sorcerer PvP Build if you want to get an idea of how to set this up.

2. Bow Nightblade

Damage 100
Range & Mobility 95
Self Healing & Defense 70
Sustain 100

The Bow Nightblade is the classic ranged sniper build that you will encounter in PVP. This allows you to attack from far away and you can hit the enemy with great combos without being at risk. One of the most important skills they use is the Snipe skill from the bow skill line.

Of course, you won’t stand a chance in melee fights, but your job is to stay as far away from the enemy as possible anyway. And if you get into tricky situations you can still stealth away. Bow Nightblades have powerful abilities such as Relentless Focus, Shadowy Disguise, Snipe, Poison Injection and many more abilities.

You can check out the Silencium Bow Nightblade Build if you want to get an idea of how to set up a ranged bow Nightblade.

3. Melee Stealth Nightblade

Damage 100
Range & Mobility 60
Self Healing & Defense 100
Sustain 90

The Stealthy Melee Nightblade is the classic stealth ganker. You can pretty much stealth anywhere in PVP and attack from the shadows. Of course, you might be a bit squishier than other setups but that doesn’t really matter because you can easily get away from most encounters even during melee fights. Stamina Nightblades has powerful abilities such as Incapacitating Strike, Ambush, Relentless Focus, Surprise Attack, Shadowy Disguise, Shadow Image, Leeching Strikes and many more.

Check out the Assassin Nightblade Gank Build if you want to get an idea of how to set up a melee stealth Nightblade.

4. Stamina Dragonknight

Damage 90
Range & Mobility 60
Self Healing & Defense 100
Sustain 90

The Stamina Dragonknight is your perfect stand your ground in melee combat fighter. As a new player, it might be a bit tricky to go melee without much choice of retreat, but this class and setup can definitely make it happen.

The Dragonknights often play with a Sword and Board/ Two Hander setup, giving them a defensive and offensive bar to play with. Dragonknights have great abilities such as Corrosive Armor, Fragmented Shield, Take Flight, Volatile Armor, Green Dragon Blood, Venomous Claws, Noxious Breath and many more.

Check out the Legion Dragonknight PvP Build if you want to get an idea of how to set up a melee brawler-style Dragonknight.

5. Magicka Templar

Damage 90
Range & Mobility 55
Self Healing & Defense 100
Sustain 90

Magicka Templars are great in melee combat but can also deal damage from far away, especially with their execute ability.  They also have great healing abilities if they are needed. Templars have great abilities such as Radiant Glory, Purifying Light, Puncturing Sweeps, Toppling Charge, Living Dark, Ritual of Retribution, Honor The Dead, Reflective Light, Channeled Focus and many more.

Check out the Blazeplar Templar PVP Build if you want to set up a melee Magicka Templar build.

Conclusion for the ESO PVP Tier List

As a new player, it is recommended to pick one of the setups that are higher on the list because they are generally easier to play. In general, it is better to pick setups that are ranged because you will have a better overview of the battlefield and can learn better from other players. New players often immediately die in melee combat because of the huge pressure that is put on you.

In the end, play how and what you like, after all this is an MMO and experimenting and theorycrafting is what makes ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) fun!
