Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Overview

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Overview

This Cyberpunk 2077: Adam Smasher Build stacks explosions and area damage on two fronts. Your main gun is a light machine gun with the Firecracker mod, so every round explodes, and your arm carries an overcharged Projectile Launch System that fires five rockets at once and recharges almost as fast as you can use it.

Here is a summary of the most important stuff you want for the Adam Smasher Build.

Must-Have Cyberware:

  • Operating System: Militech “Apogee” Sandevistan
    • Slows time by 85%, just like Adam Smasher does in the anime.
  • Arms: Toxic Projectile Launch System
    • Massive Chemical explosions with a chance to Poison.
    • Fires five rockets at once with Jailbreak from the Relic tree.
  • Frontal Cortex: Axolotl
    • Every kill shaves time off all your cyberware cooldowns.
  • Circulatory System: Black Mamba
    • Up to +22% damage against Poisoned enemies, which pairs with the Toxic launcher.

Make sure to read the full list of Cyberware for the rest of the setup.

Must-Have Weapons:

  • Defender or MA70 HB (Light Machine Guns)
    • Very high rate of fire, and no movement penalty thanks to Like a Feather.
  • Firecracker mod icon Cyberpunk 2077Firecracker (Iconic Power Weapon Mod, Phantom Liberty)
    • Makes every round explode.
    • Crafted from the Chimera Core.

For alternatives, read the full list of Weapons for this build.

Relic Perks (for Endgame):

Attributes – Adam Smasher Build

Distributing Attributes correctly for the Adam Smasher Build is important. Attributes delegate the direction of the build and give access to different tiers of perks depending on how many points you invest in each category.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build’s Attributes are spread out between cyberpunk 2077 attribute body iconBody, cyberpunk 2077 attribute technical ability icon1 Technical Ability, and cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes iconReflexes, all maxed. cyberpunk 2077 attribute cool iconCool takes the leftover points and cyberpunk 2077 attribute intelligence iconIntelligence stays at 3.

Perk Unlocks

Unlocks occur at attribute levels 4, 9, 15, and 20.

Perks are the bread and butter of every Cyberpunk 2077 build; they make it unique. At 9 & 15, you gain powerful perks that enhance your playstyle. At 20, you get the cherry on top with perks that can further change your playstyle with any given build.

Read here how to get more Perk Points in Cyberpunk 2077.

Adam Smasher Start Attributes

At the start of the game, select the following Attribute allocation to give us the optimal start for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077. Start with Body, since it is the most important tree for this build.

  • Gets you moving toward All Things Cyber and the health item perks at 9.
cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes icon

cyberpunk 2077 attribute body icon

Body

+4
  • Body is the most important attribute here. Unlocks the health regen chain and gets you close to Die! Die! Die! at 9.

Max Level Attributes

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Max Attributes

At max level, you want to have the following distribution of Attributes for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077:

  • cyberpunk 2077 attribute body icon 20 Body
  • cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes icon 20 Reflexes
  • cyberpunk 2077 attribute technical ability icon1 20 Technical Ability
  • cyberpunk 2077 attribute cool icon 18 Cool
  • cyberpunk 2077 attribute intelligence icon 3 Intelligence

Why 18 Cool with no Cool perks? Body, Reflexes and Technical Ability are maxed, so the leftover attribute points have to go somewhere. They are not wasted, though: the Revulsor cyberware is attuned to Cool and loses 0.25 seconds of cooldown per Cool point, so 18 Cool cuts 4.5 seconds off its cooldown.

Level 20 Perks

Body is at 20, so we take three capstones.

Perk Description
Onslaught icon Cyberpunk2077

Onslaught

20% ammo refill every time you take down an enemy with an LMG. As long as you keep getting kills, you practically never reload.
Pain to Gain icon Cyberpunk2077

Pain to Gain

+20% Health Item recharge after neutralizing an enemy while Adrenaline Rush is active.
Rip and Tear icon Cyberpunk2077

Rip and Tear

Shotguns only. +100% damage on your next quick melee after a shotgun hit, and vice versa. This build leaves room for a shotgun, so this covers the Guts option.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute technical ability icon1Technical Ability Perks

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Technical Ability Perks

The cyberpunk 2077 attribute technical ability icon1 Technical Ability Perk-Tree is where the rockets come from. The left side covers health items and explosives, and the perks around Pyromania are what make the Projectile Launch System nearly endless. Max it out to 20.

Chrome Constitution icon Cyberpunk2077

Chrome Constitution

Reduces incoming damage by 5% while your Integumentary System and Skeleton slots are full.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes iconReflexes Perks

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Reflexes Perks

The cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes icon Reflexes Perk-Tree is all about the middle path. We don’t care about Assault Rifles or SMGs, we want Dash all the way up to Tailwind so we can bunny hop all over the battlefield without running out of stamina.

Perk Prioritization: Prioritize perks in bold.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute reflexes icon Reflexes Perk Tree Summary

Movement and the ability to shoot your LMG while doing it.

  • Shoot and reload while sprinting, sliding and vaulting
  • Dash and Air Dash
  • Mitigation while dashing and in midair
  • Free air dashes with Tailwind

Level 4 Perks

The whole bottom row. Multitasker and Muscle Memory are what let you use your LMG while jumping and vaulting.

Level 20 Perks

Perk Description
Tailwind icon Cyberpunk2077

Tailwind

Air Dashes cost no stamina, and air dashes and double jumps restore stamina. You can bunny hop around the battlefield forever and still have stamina left for your LMG.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute cool icon Cool Perks

We don’t spend any perk points in Cool. The 18 attribute points are there because Body, Reflexes and Technical Ability are maxed, and they still pay off by shortening the Revulsor’s cooldown. Cool’s perks are built around pistols, precision rifles, sniper rifles, knives and stealth, none of which an Adam Smasher build uses.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute intelligence icon Intelligence Perks

We leave Intelligence at 3 and spend nothing here. Adam Smasher doesn’t hack people, he smashes them.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute relic iconRelic Perks (Phantom Liberty DLC)

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Build Relic Perks

The Relic skill tree only exists if you own Phantom Liberty, and for this build you definitely want it. You unlock Relic points by finding Relic Data Terminals in Dogtown, and most of them can be collected within the first hour of the expansion.

cyberpunk 2077 attribute relic icon Relic Perks

Perk Description
Jailbreak icon Cyberpunk 2077

Jailbreak

Lets you overcharge the Projectile Launch System to fire five rockets at once. This is the main reason the launcher becomes a primary weapon instead of a utility.
Launch Capacity Override icon Cyberpunk 2077

Launch Capacity Override

+1 Projectile Launch System charge, on top of the extra charges from Doomlauncher.
Vulnerability Analytics icon Cyberpunk 2077

Vulnerability Analytics

Lets you shoot enemy Vulnerabilities for 100% crit chance, +25% armor penetration and weak spot damage, and they explode into an EMP blast when destroyed. Especially strong against MaxTac.
Machine Learning icon Cyberpunk 2077

Machine Learning

Destroying a Vulnerability makes new ones appear more often and grants crit damage against them, stacking five times.

Spare Perk Points

This build uses 72 of the 80 Perk Points available at level 60, so you have 8 left over. Everything worth having for an LMG and explosives build is already taken, so these are optional upgrades rather than missing pieces. In order of value:

Perk Description
Built Different icon Cyberpunk2077

Built Different

Unlocks the Cellular Adapter cyberware, which costs only 8 Cyberware Capacity and, at 20 Technical Ability, gives +20% explosion damage resistance plus faster grenade and Health Item recharge. Your rounds explode at point blank range, so this is the best use of a spare point.
Heat Shield icon Cyberpunk2077

Heat Shield

Mitigation chance for every stack of Pyromania. You are stacking Pyromania all fight long, so this is close to permanent damage reduction.
Demolitions Surplus icon Cyberpunk2077

Demolitions Surplus

+1 grenade charge and much faster out of combat grenade recharge. More grenades means more Pyromania stacks for Burn This City.
Lucky Day icon Cyberpunk2077

Lucky Day

More crafting components from looting. Your LMG eats heavy ammo, and you will be crafting a lot of it.
Coming in Hot icon Cyberpunk2077

Coming in Hot

+50% grenade recharge speed when you have no grenades left.

That leaves 3 points with nothing important to buy. Keep them as a buffer to respec, or refund Chipware Connoisseur once your cyberware is fully upgraded for a fourth.

Alternative: if you love the Kerenzikov, spend 7 points on Air Kerenzikov instead, which keeps you suspended in midair while Kerenzikov is active. The catch is that it sits behind Ready, Rested, Reloaded, Sharpshooter and Gundancer, which are Assault Rifle and SMG perks, so 6 of those 7 points do nothing for an LMG.

Cyberware for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077

Adam Smasher Build Cyberware Setup

Using the right Cyberware for the Cyberpunk 2077: Adam Smasher Build matters. The core of it is slow motion from three sources, a poison rocket launcher with a damage bonus against poisoned enemies, and enough armor and healing to stand in the middle of your own explosions.

Important: Priority Cyberware is marked in bold.

How to get and upgrade Cyberware

  • Finding vs. Buying: Cyberware can be found as world loot or bought from Ripperdocs. Both world loot and Ripperdoc store inventories are strictly locked to your character’s level. You cannot buy higher tier cyberware than your level allows.
  • Level Tiers:
    • Tier 1 – Level 1-9
    • Tier 2 – Level 10-19
    • Tier 3 – Level 20-29
    • Tier 4 – Level 30-39
    • Tier 5 – Level 40+
  • Upgrading: While you can’t buy high-tier cyberware early, you can upgrade any cyberware you already own all the way to Tier 5++ at any Ripperdoc, regardless of your level, as long as you have the required item components.

Ripperdocs Inventory

All Ripperdocs in Night City have the same inventory, except the Ripperdoc in Dogtown (Phantom Liberty DLC), who has exclusive iconic Cyberware.

  • Night City Ripperdocs – Standard Cyberware (Tier 1-5).
  • Dogtown (Phantom Liberty DLC) – Standard Cyberware + Iconic Cyberware

Operating System

Cyberware Description
Militech Apogee Sandevistan icon Cyberpunk 2077

Militech “Apogee” Sandevistan

  • Slows time by 85%, the same slow motion Adam Smasher uses in the anime.
  • Bonuses to damage, crit chance and crit damage while active.
  • Every activation also charges Ticking Time Bomb from Technical Ability.
Militech Berserk icon Cyberpunk 2077

Militech Berserk

The alternative. While active you are invulnerable to damage, which is very strong against MaxTac. The catch: Berserk limits you to melee weapons while it runs, so you can’t fire your LMG during it. Use it to wade in and tank, then shoot once it ends.

Location of items:

  • Militech “Apogee” Sandevistan: Ripperdoc, level 40+
  • Militech Berserk: Iconic, sold by all Ripperdocs after level 30.

Frontal Cortex

Cyberware Description
Axolotl icon Cyberpunk 2077

Axolotl

Every kill reduces the cooldown of all your cyberware. Pair it with the Sandevistan or Berserk to keep your OS available as often as possible.
Mechatronic Core icon Cyberpunk 2077

Mechatronic Core

Increased damage to drones, robots, mechs and turrets.
Self-ICE icon Cyberpunk 2077

  • Self-ICE: Ripperdoc, level 20

Face

Cyberware Description
Kiroshi Cockatrice Optics icon Cyberpunk 2077

Kiroshi “Cockatrice” Optics

A big flat Crit Chance bonus. It costs around 30 Cyberware Capacity, so it is a damage upgrade for when you feel you are not hitting hard enough, rather than a must-have.

Location of items:

  • Kiroshi “Cockatrice” Optics: Iconic, Dogtown Ripperdoc, level 35

Arms

Cyberware Description
Projectile Launch System icon Cyberpunk 2077

Toxic Projectile Launch System

  • Fires an explosive projectile that deals massive Chemical damage with a chance to Poison. Charged shots gain more damage, explosion radius and Poison chance.
  • With Jailbreak from the Relic tree it fires five rockets at once, so you are almost always Poisoning something.
  • Poisoned enemies take extra damage from Black Mamba, which is a strong way to take down bosses.
  • Doomlauncher and Burn This City refill its charges as you hit enemies.

Location of items:

  • Toxic Projectile Launch System: Sold by Ripperdocs across Night City, with availability scaling to your level and Street Cred.

Hands

Cyberware Description
Immovable Force icon Cyberpunk 2077

Shock Absorber icon Cyberpunk 2077

Shock Absorber

Straightforward recoil reduction for the second Hands slot from Ambidextrous.

Location of items:

  • Immovable Force: Iconic, Dogtown Ripperdocs (Phantom Liberty DLC), also found in Dogtown airdrops.

  • Bionic Joints: Any Ripperdoc upon reaching level 10.
  • Para Bellum: Any Ripperdoc upon reaching level 20.

Nervous System

Cyberware Description
Kerenzikov icon Cyberpunk 2077

Kerenzikov

Slows time by 60% when you aim while sliding, dodging or dashing, with only a 6 second cooldown. With Dash, Air Dash and the double jump, you trigger it constantly.
Revulsor icon Cyberpunk 2077

Revulsor

Iconic. Slows time by 60% for 4.5 seconds when your health drops below 25%, without slowing you down. Its cooldown shrinks with Cool, which is where your 18 Cool points pay off. Between this, Kerenzikov and the Apogee, you are almost always moving in slow motion like the real Adam Smasher.
Neofiber icon Cyberpunk 2077

Neofiber

More Mitigation Chance and Mitigation Strength for the last slot.

Location of items:

  • Kerenzikov: Any Ripperdoc from level 10.
  • Revulsor: Iconic, Dogtown Ripperdocs (Phantom Liberty DLC), also found in Dogtown airdrops.
  • Neofiber: Any Ripperdoc upon reaching level 20.

Circulatory System

Cyberware Description

An instant, powerful heal with no animation, by far the best healing in the game. It also triggers Adrenaline Rush and Dorph-head.
Black Mamba icon Cyberpunk 2077

Black Mamba

Up to +22% damage against Poisoned enemies, at the cost of most of your own Poison damage. The Toxic launcher keeps everything Poisoned, so this is a flat damage boost for your LMG.
Heal-On-Kill icon Cyberpunk 2077

Heal-On-Kill

Restores health on every kill, so you survive longer on the battlefield.

Location of items:

  • Blood Pump: Any Ripperdoc upon reaching level 10.
  • Black Mamba: Ripperdoc, from level 20.
  • Heal-On-Kill: Ripperdoc upon reaching level 10.

Integumentary System

Cyberware Description
Shock-n-Awe icon Cyberpunk 2077

Shock-n-Awe

A lot of armor and a chance to zap enemies with a huge electroshock whenever they hit you. You will be close to enemies with plenty of mitigation, so every hit hurts them more than it hurts you.
Chitin icon Cyberpunk 2077

Chitin

Iconic. A lot of armor and crazy health regen that scales with Body. Expensive on capacity, so get it once you have the room.
Cellular Adapter icon Cyberpunk 2077

Cellular Adapter

Only available with the Built Different perk from the spare perk points. Just 8 capacity for explosion damage resistance and faster grenade and Health Item recharge. Without it, use Subdermal Armor here.

Location of items:

  • Shock-n-Awe: Any Ripperdoc upon reaching level 10.
  • Chitin: Iconic, Dogtown Ripperdocs (Phantom Liberty DLC), also found in Dogtown airdrops.
  • Cellular Adapter: Any Ripperdoc, after unlocking the Built Different perk.

Weapons for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077

This build lives on light machine guns, with room for a shotgun if you want one. The perks behind them:

Upgrade: Weapons can be upgraded when you go to the crafting section and then swap to upgrades.

Item Description
Defender icon Cyberpunk 2077

Defender

Power LMG with a very high rate of fire. With the Firecracker mod, every round explodes, so you are putting a string of firecrackers at every enemy’s feet.
MA70 HB icon Cyberpunk 2077

MA70 HB

Power LMG that already fires explosive rounds. On this gun the Firecracker mod increases the damage of each round instead of adding explosions.
Guts icon Cyberpunk 2077

Guts

Optional backup shotgun.

Alternative: Wild Dog is an iconic Phantom Liberty LMG whose repeated hits increase fire rate and Crit Chance. It is a great match for Onslaught. You get it from Kurt Hansen during Firestarter, or from Herold Lowe at the EBM Petrochem Stadium.

Ammo: your LMGs eat a ton of heavy ammo, so craft more every now and then.

Firecracker (Iconic Power Weapon Mod)

Firecracker mod icon Cyberpunk 2077

This is the heart of the Adam Smasher Build. The Firecracker mod makes any Power weapon shoot explosive rounds, LMGs included. Combined with the very high fire rate of an LMG, you cause so many explosions that every enemy gets dismembered more often, which spreads Dread’s armor shred and triggers Bloodlust.

  • Prerequisites: Phantom Liberty DLC.
  • Where: At the end of the main Phantom Liberty job Spider and the Fly, after defeating the Chimera.
  • How to Get It: The Chimera Core lies on the ground a few feet from the wreck, not on the body itself. Use your scanner to highlight it and pick it up before you leave.
  • What to Do: Craft the Firecracker from the Active Chimera Core in the crafting menu.
  • Note: There is only one Chimera Core per playthrough, and it can make one of four mods. Pick Firecracker. Unlike normal mods, it can be removed and moved to another weapon, and you get it back if you dismantle or sell the weapon it is on.

Gear for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Adam Smasher Outfit Ingame No Mods

Since gear is mostly cosmetic, you can wear whatever you want. All of this build’s defense comes from cyberware instead, mainly Chitin, Shock-n-Awe, Epimorphic Skeleton, Bionic Joints and Para Bellum.

Without mods, you won’t get that close to an Adam Smasher look. However, here is the closest thing that resembles him:

  • Torso: Arasaka ultralight hybrid tactical harness, a high-end black and red tactical piece worn by Arasaka forces, sold by the Northside clothing vendor. Alternative: Arasaka polycarbonate-laced bulletproof aramid vest, whose Legendary version drops from Oda in Play It Safe.
  • Face: Arasaka Tactical Techgogs, sold at Appel De Paris and Jinguji, also craftable.
  • Rest: Black tactical pants and combat boots. Japantown clothing shops mostly sell Arasaka gear, so restock there.

Skill Progression in Cyberpunk 2077

Leveling Tips for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077

Here are a few general leveling tips for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077.

Perfect Start in Cyberpunk 2077

Here are the steps that I recommend taking with a new Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough.

Starter Build: You can also check out my Cyberpunk 2077 Starter Build that takes you from level 1 to level 15.

  1. Regular Start (Don’t skip ahead to Phantom Liberty).
  2. Immediately after the prologue, once you are out of your room and go downstairs before you enter the elevator.
    1. Weapon Vendor: Buy the Iconic pistol Dying Night.
    2. Coach Fred: Capacity Boosters (in case you get over capacity so you can still move).
  3. Buff Routine: Sleep & Shower. This gives you 20% Skill XP acquisition and Health Regen.
  4. Watson Clean Sweep (NCPD Missions):
    1. Watson is the first district you play in.
    2. Clearing all missions takes 1-2 hours. This will give you at least 10 levels, 15 Street Cred and over 150k Eddies Cash.
    3. Loot all enemies and either disassemble for materials or sell them at the vendor for extra Eddies.
  5. Get the Fenrir SMG from the monk mission. This SMG is insanely good at the start because it often stuns enemies.
  6. Visit a Ripperdoc at level 10: After you have enough money, its time to get chromed up.
    1. Reinforced Tendons (Legs): Allow you to double jump
    2. Kerenzikov (Nervous System): Slows Time by 60% for 2s.
    3. Synaptic Accelerator (Nervous System): Slows time by 20% for 2s when enemy detection reaches 50%.
    4. Whatever else you can fit!
  7. Time to start playing for real. The Pickup mission is waiting for you!

How to make Money

It is actually fairly easy to make money in Cyberpunk 2077. The best way to make money is to clear all the NCPD and Cyberpsycho missions in each district. As previously mentioned, clearing most of the Watson district NCPD mission alone already gives you approximately 150k Eddies Cash.

Upgrade Weapons

Cyberpunk 2077 Upgrade Weapons

This often gets overlooked, but you can upgrade early-game weapons in Cyberpunk 2077. Go to the crafting section, then move to the Upgrade tab. Here you can upgrade all weapons if you have the necessary crafting components.

Gear Scaling in Cyberpunk 2077

Gear scaling is automated in Cyberpunk 2077. The moment you reach a certain level, you will start finding more and more high-quality items. Meaning the faster you reach a higher level the sooner you will find better gear from chests or enemies. That counts for Gear, Weapons, Cyberware, Outfits, etc.

  • Tier 1: Level 1-9
  • Tier 2: Level 10-19
  • Tier 3: Level 20-29
  • Tier 4: Level 30-39
  • Tier 5: Level 40-44
  • Tier Iconic: Level 45-50

How to get Perk Points in Cyberpunk 2077

You need Perk Points to unlock additional Perks for the Adam Smasher Build in Cyberpunk 2077. Perks are the bread and butter of any CP2077 Build, as they significantly enhance your power.

  1. You get one Perk Point per character level.
  2. Skill Progression awards you with Perk Points.
  3. You can farm up to 13 Perk Shards (10 base game, 3 Phantom Liberty DLC)

Perk Point per Character Level

Not much needs to be said here; leveling up gives you one extra Perk Point.

Skill Progression

Skill Progression Perk Points Cyberpunk 2077

This is often overlooked; the Skill Progression system also awards you Perk Points at 15 and 35. So you can get an additional 10 Perk Points from this.

Character menu > bottom right Skill Progression.

Perk Shards

There are 10 base-game Perk Shards and 3 Phantom Liberty DLC Perk Shards you can collect to earn additional perks in Cyberpunk 2077.
