Welcome to our Orengall Build Guide for Soulframe. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can create a powerful Orengall build that deals high damage. This build works well for both solo and co-op play.

Orengall is an unlockable Pact in Soulframe. It allows you to summon spirit wolves to help you in combat.

This Orengall build is up to date with Soulframe Preludes 15. We’ll keep updating it as Soulframe evolves in the run-up to its full release.

Orengall Pact Overview

Be one with the pack of the Omen Shewolf Orengall. Prowl the Furthing packlands by light of lridis, a silent assassin of fang and claw. May your bite be fierce and your love be fiercer.

The Orengall Pact has affinity with the Spirit virtue. Increasing your Spirit makes your Arcanics last longer, which means you can have more Spirit Wolves active at once.

The spirit wolves are the defining feature of the Orengall class in Soulframe – they fight your enemies, which is not only useful for the extra damage, but they also tend to distract them. This helps a lot when you are fighting a boss or when outnumbered.

Orengall Arcanics

The Orengall Pact has the following Arcanics:

Arcanic Description

Soulframe Werewalker

Werewalker

Your soul scouts ahead without being detected by enemies. You can perform a powerful attack against an enemy and teleport yourself to the new location.

Soulframe Spirit Wolf

Packhunter

Summon a spectral wolf who will aid you in battle and draw the attention of enemies. You can have several wolves summoned at once.

Soulframe Howl

Howl

Sing your bloodsong. Increases courage and Smite Chance for you and your party. Ode’n hounds temporarily turn on their masters.

Orengall Playstyle

Orengall can feel quite weak at low levels because their attack damage is low, and they can only have one spirit wolf summoned at a time due to its high base cooldown and low duration. If you’re struggling at this point in the game, try to stick to the western part of the map where enemies are low-level and much easier to fight.

You can immediately begin using Werewalker to initiate combat, allowing you to take out one enemy immediately. Focus on the stronger enemies; this skill can even one-shot Bannarets. You can run faster than usual with Werewalker active, so you can use it to travel around a little faster. Remember to left-click to attack before the duration of Werewalker runs out (even if you are attacking thin air) to teleport your character to the wolf’s location; otherwise, you’ll be returned to your starting point when the skill expires!

Once you reach Level 20, things start to get much better if you built Orengall correctly. You should ideally use Packhunter on cooldown, which should now allow for three or even four wolves summoned at a time. The wolves deal more damage now and are capable of taking out weaker enemies on their own, and they’re great at distracting them, too. With multiple wolves summoned, you can be more aggressive in combat and attain a decent damage output as an Orengall player.

Howl boosts the Courage and Smite chance of you, your wolves and any players you are grouped with. This skill feels a little weak when playing solo, but you can use it to temporarily make enemy hounds fight for you.

How to Unlock Orengall in Soulframe

To unlock Orengall, you must complete the Shewolf Snared fable.

Then visit Tuvalkane to craft the Orengall Pact. This requires a Level 3 Bond with Tuvalkane.

Orengall Build Best Virtues

The most important Virtue for the Orengall Pact is Spirit. You need 38 points in Spirit to reliably maintain four wolves simultaneously. If you have any points spare after that, put them in Grace, which also seems to scale the spirit wolves’ damage despite them being marked as a Spirit Arcanic.

I don’t recommend putting any points into Courage unless you need more max HP. The build is most optimal with no Courage allocation.

Orengall Best Equipment

In this section, we will explain the best armour to wear as Orengall, and the best weapons to equip.

Orengall Best Armour Setup

Currently, the armour system in Soulframe isn’t very complicated. There are three armour stats – Physical, Magic and Stability.

  • Physical reduces the damage you take from physical attacks, such as ordinary weapon strikes and arrows.
  • Magic reduces the damage you take from all magical attacks, such as lightning and fire spells.
  • Stability improves your resistance to stagger effects, making it harder for enemies to stun you or knock you to the ground.

All three of these stats add up to give you a total armour rating, which is visible in the top-right of your character menu.

There are currently no armour pieces or sets that grant special effects, so you should keep crafting better armour until you have the highest possible rating in each armour stat.

Note that it is sometimes better to have a balanced armour distribution that is a little lower on your overall armour stat. For example, having 5 points in each armour stat for a total armour of 15 is better than having 18 points all in physical armour.

Orengall Best Weapons

While at a low level, you might want to use a ranged weapon as Orengall, as you can stay fairly safe from most enemies by kiting and shooting. This is helpful because Orengall is quite weak to begin with.

Once you’ve levelled up a few times, you can switch to a melee weapon and have an easier time thanks to your wolf companions, who can distract and stagger multiple enemies at once.

I’ve been having a lot of success with the Short Blade weapon type. With a Short Blade equipped, your character will dual-wield shortswords or daggers, allowing for rapid, high-damage attacks with a very generous Smite chance. When you’ve obtained the correct Totems (explained below), your Smites will absorb HP from enemies, allowing you to easily sustain your HP even with Orengall’s lack of innate healing abilities.

Short Blades have a surprisingly decent amount of cleave, so you can hit several enemies with a single attack.

The main weakness of Short Blades is their low stagger, but your wolves help a lot with this by distracting enemies, and their bites will sometimes knock enemies over, too. This lets you use one of the highest-DPS weapon types in Soulframe and partially negate some of their biggest downsides.

Ideally you should use a weapon that is attuned to Spirit and Grace. If you’re just starting out, then use one that’s attuned to Spirit only.

Remember to Reforge your Short Blades with soulframe verite Verite: Twice Blessed by Iridis or soulframe gildaur Gildaur: Thrice Blessed by Iridis, granting you additional Spirit scaling. If your Spirit scaling is already maxed out, then you can instead use the Saphene-blessed versions.

Orengall Best Sidearm

Sidearms are small weapons, usually in the short blade category. They can be equipped in your Sidearm weapon slot, allowing you to swap to that weapon at any time.

You can choose any Spirit-attuned Sidearm. I think it is best to choose a Flyblade or a Magickal Sidearm, giving you a ranged option. But it’s up to you.

Remember to Reforge your Sidearm with an Iridis-Blessed joinery.

Obtaining Thrice-Blessed Joineries

Thrice-Blessed Joineries are rare upgrade materials required to get the maximum possible attunement scaling on your weapon. They have a small chance to drop from most world bosses, or to be found in treasure chests or crypt sarcophagi. You can also buy them from your Faction Favours shop, but this requires rank 4 or 5 with your faction and a whole heap of faction favour to buy one.

Don’t worry if you don’t have Thrice Blessed Joineries yet – they are quite rare, and the build still works fine without perfect optimisation, so just use the once- or twice-blessed version until you find some.

Also, note that Verite currently has no Thrice-Blessed version, so for weapon types requiring Verite, the best you can get is Twice-Blessed.

Orengall Best Runes & Totems

For your Short Blades, I recommend slotting the following Runes and Totems:

Slot Item Effect How to Obtain
Rune Emberaught Perform a Heavy Strike imbued with additional flame damage. Can cause explosions. Fort Curlail Siege, Etheldred the Weaver, Rovgot Wyrm, Seachnall the Widower
Courage Totem Hare Harms Pull Smite causes an explosion around the enemy Free or charm Rabbits
Grace Totem 1 Diving Drake Pull Smite deals additional damage Free or charm Ducks
Grace Totem 2 Spreading Sploot Chance to Smite another enemy on Pull Smite Free or charm Squirrels
Spirit Totem Dabble Dredge Heal on Pull Smite Free or charm Ducks

Your Sidearm setup is less important. The Rune will depend on which weapon type you decide to use, but you can use the same Totems as your primary weapon in most cases.

Important Note: If you have the same Totems but attuned differently to ours (for example, if your Hare Harms totem is attuned to Spirit instead of Courage), then rearrange them accordingly. The most important thing is that each totem is in the correct coloured slot.

If you are playing with friends, you may want to change the Dabble Dredge Totem to Heal Preens (a Duck totem), which will heal nearby allies (including yourself) when you Pull Smite an enemy. Remember to upgrade your Runes and Totems to increase their effects!

Please note that Runes aren’t guaranteed drops. You might need to defeat bosses several times before you obtain a Rune.

You can learn more about these upgrades in our Runes & Totems Guide.

Combat Arts Upgrade Priority

As you use the weapons mentioned above, you will gain XP towards upgrading the Combat Arts for those weapon types.

In this section, we have some advice for levelling up your Combat Arts for this Orengall Build.

Short Blade

Short Blade is the most important weapon type for our Garren Rood build. Here is how I recommend you level up your Combat Arts for this weapon:

  1. Smitten
  2. Perfect Throw
  3. Momentum
  4. Riposte
  5. Swift Parry
  6. Vaunt
  7. Spectre Strike
  8. Misdirection
  9. Affright
  10. Smitten 2
  11. Smitten 3
  12. Misdirection 2
  13. Vaunt 2
  14. Misdirection 3
  15. Vaunt 3

Momentum is a great Combat Art for Short Blades. It builds up bonus damage on consecutive attacks, which plays very well with the rapid attack speed of daggers. Besides that, we want to get a high Smite chance to deal more bonus damage. Remember to press the Spirit Vision button when Smite procs on an enemy (look out for the glowing soul).

You can instead move some points into the middle branch if you find yourself throwing the Sidearm often. But if, like me, you mainly use it for melee, it’s better to stick to the top and bottom branches of the Short Blade tree.

Orengall Upgrade Priority

We recommend upgrading your Orengall Pact in the following order:

  1. Soulbound
  2. Feral
  3. Rooted
  4. Wingspan
  5. Stalwart
  6. Iridis’ Favour
  7. Saphene’s Gift
  8. Iridis’ Favour 2
  9. Rooted 2
  10. Stalwart 2
  11. Saphene’s Gift 2
  12. Soulbound 2
  13. Iridis’ Favour 3
  14. Saphene’s Gift 3
  15. Soulbound 3
  16. Soulbound 4

Our first priority is to grab the Rooted and Stalwart perks, which give you some resistance to stagger and knockdowns.

After that, we want to maximise Spirit and Grace using Iridis’ Favour and Saphene’s Gift. Finally, finish upgrading Soulbound to get bonus damage when allies are nearby. This effect stacks when there are several allies, so make sure you are summoning spirit wolves on cooldown to maximise your damage output.
