Welcome to our Cha Hae-In Build Guide for Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.

In this guide, we will explain how each one of Cha Hae-In’s skills work and how best to use them. We will provide more general tips for how to get the most out of Cha Hae-In.

We will also include a build guide for Cha Hae-In. While Hunter builds aren’t as widely customisable as Sung Jinwoo, you can still customise your equipment and level up your skills. We’ll walk you through these so you can find the best items and prioritise the best skill upgrades first.

Please note that this guide is currently a work in progress. It will be updated over the course of Arise Overdrive’s early access period and following on from the full launch of the game.

Cha Hae-In Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive

Here is an overview of Cha Hae-In’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.

Basic Skills

Swift Sword

Hae-In attacks the enemy by swinging her sword quickly. The user deals damage proportional to their Attack.

This is Hae-In’s basic light attack. You can activate it at any time by left-clicking. It’s a good choice when you want to attack but don’t have a long time window.

Sword Dance

Hae-In performs a series of slashes at incredible speed. The user deals damage proportional to their Attack.

This is Hae-In’s heavy attack. You can activate it at any time by pressing C. You perform a rapid series of slashes that hit nearby enemies. This is great for dealing with waves of weaker trash enemies. There is no cooldown, so you can use it as much as you need.

The Dancer

Hae-In charges with a fast, piercing attack. The skill charges up to 3 times. The user deals damage proportional to their Attack. 18 second Cooldown.

This is a good gap-closer that involves a lunging forward stab. It’s good for initiating a flurry of other attacks against a single strong enemy, but it’s not very good for fighting off several enemies at once. This skill has three charges, which must be replenished with the Rampant of Light Special Skill (see below).

Sword of Light

Hae-In slashes the enemy continuously with a large sword of light, then finishes the combination with a powerful strike. Significantly increases her Critical Hit Rate when this skill hits targets inflicted with the Brand effect. The user deals damage proportional to their Attack. 18 second cooldown.

This skill is split into two parts. First, you do a rapid flurry of attacks similar to the Sword Dance heavy attack. At the end of the flurry, you do one last powerful strike. The final strike feels awkward to aim at first – the key thing to remember is that wherever you are aiming when you start the skill is where the strike will land. I hope they change this to allow you to change the aim direction mid-skill, but at least in the demo this is how it seems to work.

This is an amazing skill for fighting off many enemies at once, or dealing heavy damage to one enemy in an opportune moment. But be careful that you’ll get stuck in the animation for a couple of seconds, leaving you vulnerable to attacks from strong enemies who aren’t staggered by your attacks.

Special Skills

Radiant Strikes

Hae-In attacks the enemy by charging and piercing them quickly, unleashing a powerful downward slash with her Sword of Light. When she uses this skill, her Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage are increased temporarily.

The user deals damage proportional to their Attack. 90 Second Cooldown.

This is Hae-In’s Support Skill, so it can only be used when she is supporting Sung Jinwoo. It can be used when Sung Jinwoo uses Dash Combo Attack 2 times, or when an Elemental Status Effect is active on nearby enemies.

Rampant of Light

QTE Skill. Hae-In approaches the enemy quickly and launches them into the air. Afterward, she attacks the enemy with a large slash with her Sword of Light. When she uses this skill, The Dancer skill is fully charged and the Critical Hit Rate of her entire team increases for a long period of time.

The user deals damage proportional to their Attack.

Your QTE Skill is activated when you switch to Hae-In by pressing Left Shift (when prompted). Make sure you are in a suitable position for Rampant of Light to hit an opponent when you press Left Shift.

Blade Symphony

Syncro Chain. Hae-In slashes the enemy with a massive sword of light.

The Synchro-Chain is activated by pressing T when prompted. All Hunters in your party will activate their Synchro Chain at the same time, which can deal large bursts of damage to enemies.

Light of the End

Ultimate Skill. Hae-In takes a mighty swing at the enemy with a sword imbued with the power of light. When hitting a target with the Brand effect, the attack always lands as a Critical Hit

The user deals damage proportional to their Attack. 120 Second Cooldown.

A small cutscene activates when you use your Ultimate Skill, so you don’t need to worry about being hit by enemies. It deals a big burst of damage and is typically best used against the strongest enemies.

Unique Skills

Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.

Back Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.

Deflect Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.

How to Play Cha Hae-In

Cha Hae-In is a strong melee fighter, but you need to stay mobile especially when fighting against several enemies at once. Several of her attacks involve rather lengthy chain attack animations which can leave you vulnerable and unable to evade enemy attacks for the duration of the skill, so moving around a lot will create the space needed to use these skills without much risk.

We also have to explain Hae-In’s Overdrive mechanic, which interplays with the Dancer skill. Using The Dancer three times will turn Hae-In’s next heavy attack (Rampant of Light) into enhanced heavy attack, which adds 1 charge to The Dancer and inflicts Brand on the target.

Each stack of Brand will increase the Critical Hit Damage taken by the target, and it stacks up to three times. Landing Critical Hits will restore your Overdrive gauge. Using your Overdrive gauge increases your Critical Hit Damage and resets the cooldown of The Dancer.

This is a pretty complicated mechanic and you can play Cha Hae-In without using it (you should always use your Overdrive though – just press V when it’s charged and Hae-In will get extra Critical Damage). Swapping to a different character after each enhanced heavy attack will allow you to cheese this mechanic a bit, since every time you switch back to her with her QTE skill (left shift from the adjacent Hunter) she recharges all of her Dancer charges. This removes the need to manually recharge The Dancer and makes this mechanic a little easier to keep on top of.

Cha Hae-In Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive

Slao Cha Hae-In Skill Upgrades

As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.

It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.

In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
