The Cloak of Protection is an uncommon Cloak in Baldur’s Gate 3 that is useful for many builds, due to its ability to enhance the wearer’s defensive capabilities.

In this short guide we will explain what the Cloak of Protection is, and how you can obtain it in your playthrough.

What is the Cloak of Protection?

The Cloak of Protection provides the wearer with the following effects:

  • Armour Class +1: Higher Armour Class increases the Attack Roll required for enemies to land a hit on you, effectively meaning you take less damage on average.
  • Saving Throws +1: A +1 bonus to all Saving Throw rolls makes your character a little more resistant to many spells, weapon actions and debuffs, increasing the likelihood that you win negate the effects of many hostile actions.

While these effects aren’t super powerful, they do help your character to be more resilient in combat, and the Cloak of Protection is particularly useful because it can be obtained quite early in the game compared to other cloaks. There also aren’t that many cloaks in the game, so it’s possible that you will want to keep this on one of your characters until the end of the game.

How to Get the Cloak of Protection in BG3

The Cloak of Protection can be obtained by purchasing it from Quartermaster Talli at Last Light Inn in Act II She is one of the first NPCs you will pass by after entering this area – look to your left just after crossing the bridge into the inn’s grounds. This NPC sells quite a lot of decent equipment items, so make sure to have a good look through her wares. If possible, it’s recommended to buy everything you want from her as soon as you encounter her, since you may lose the option to trade with her depending on later events.

The base price of the Cloak of Protection is 200, however you will probably need to pay quite a bit more than this to buy it. The exact amount depends on your Bartering skill.
