What is the Amulet of Misty Step in BG3
The Amulet of Misty Step is an uncommon amulet/necklace in Baldur’s Gate 3. It grants the wearer access to the Misty Step spell, which they can cast once per Short Rest without using a Spell Slot.
Misty Step allows the caster to teleport to any visible and unoccupied space within 18 metres of their current position, which is great for rapidly taking an advantageous position (such as high ground) or escaping a bad situation safely. Misty Step only uses a Bonus Action rather than a full Action, which means you can usually make an attack or cast another spell on the same turn.
This is useful on pretty much any class, but it’s especially good on classes that are heavily melee-focused, such as the Barbarian, Paladin or Fighter, as it allows them to immediately close the gap to melee range. It’s equally good on classes with a heavy ranged focus, such as the Ranger or the Wizard, as it lets them quickly take the high ground and stay away from melee enemies without needing to spend several turns running to the desired location.
How to Get the Amulet of Misty Step in BG3
The Amulet of Misty Step can be obtained fairly early in the game. In Act I, when you enter the Shattered Sanctum (the old temple/keep area behind the Goblin Camp), then proceed to the Defiled Temple.
Once inside the Defiled Temple, you are looking for a Gilded Chest behind the ogre called Polma. They are guarding the area and generally won’t be pleased to see you blunder in, so you’ll need to either kill, incapacitate, sneak past or persuade the ogre to look the other way. Once you have done that, you can loot the chest and find the Amulet of Misty Step within.
