Welcome to the Githyanki Item Sets guide for Baldur’s Gate 3. In this guide we will list the equipment available in BG3 that gives extra bonuses to the Githyanki race.

These items are most definitely worth obtaining if you have a Githyanki in your party, as they provide some pretty powerful extra bonuses, including extra Psychic Damage and various other buffs. Please note that this guide contains some spoilers about potential story paths, especially in Act III.

If you have Lae’zel in your party then you may also want to take a look at our BG3 Fighter build, which is perfect for Lae’zel.

Table of Contents:

Githyanki Greatsword

The Githyanki Greatsword is an uncommon Greatsword that is likely the earliest special Githyanki weapon you will encounter in an average playthrough.

It doesn’t do anything too special. However, one notable feature is that a Githyanki wielding the weapon deals an extra 1d4 Psychic damage on all of their attacks with the weapon. This makes it likely to be superior to anything you may have found up to that point during your Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough.

Note that this weapon is easy to confuse with generic greatswords with the same name that are often dropped by Githyanki NPCs. However, those greatswords lack the bonus Psychic damage found in this version.

The Githyanki Greatsword is carried by Sarth Baretha, one of the members of the Githyanki Patrol on the Risen Road, Act I.

Soulbreaker Greatsword

The Soulbreaker Greatsword is a rare Greatsword, which is basically an upgraded version of the Githyanki Greatsword above.

It also grants you 1d4 extra Psychic Damage if you are Githyanki, but in addition, it will give a +2 bonus to Initiative Rolls (making it more likely that you take your turn before other characters) and you also get the Soulbreaker Action, which deals another 4 Psychic Damage on hit and can stun the target.

The Soulbreaker Greatsword is great if you are playing a Githyanki Fighter Build or Githyanki Barbarian Build with a two-hander setup.

The Soulbreaker Greatsword is dropped by Kith’rak Therezzyn in the Captain’s Quarters of Crèche Y’llek. To find this area you must take the Mountain Pass route at the end of Act I, and explore the Rosymorn Monastery.

Silver Sword of the Astral Plane

The Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is a Legendary Greatsword, and is possibly the best melee weapon available in the game (for Githyanki). However, depending on your choices it’s possible that you won’t ever encounter the weapon in BG3

Githyanki with this sword deal 1d6 bonus Psychic Damage with every attack made with the sword, and they also roll with Advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma Saving Throws, gain 50% Resistance to Psychic Damage and immunity to being Charmed. You also get the Soulbreaker Action from the Soulbreaker Greatsword. A non-Githyanki wielding this weapon will only gain access to Soulbreaker, all other bonuses will be disabled. It’s worth noting that the weapon also has a +3 Enchantment, which adds +3 onto damage and attack rolls with the weapon (unless your base attack roll was 1, which causes a Critical Miss).

There are currently two ways to obtain the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane – the first method is the intended one, the second method allows you to obtain it much earlier in the game, but requires some imaginative gameplay and may be patched out in the future.

  1. (spoiler) Show the Orphic Hammer to Kith’rak Voss in Act III, or kill Voss and loot the sword from him. He will only be there if you followed the Help Kith’rak Voss quest.
  2. The first time you encounter Voss on the Risen Road in Act I, use a Disarming ability to make him drop the sword (before starting combat with the patrol). The success chance of this action is very low due to his comparatively high stats, and it’s likely you’ll need to save and reload several times to pull it off. It’s been reported that he’ll sometimes drop a crossbow instead of the sword.

Circlet of Psionic Revenge

The Circlet of Psionic Revenge is a rare circlet that gives buffs to Githyanki and can also reflect a small amount of damage to attackers.

The wearer reflects 1d4 Psionic Damage to the attacker whenever they succeed a Saving Throw. In addition, Githyanki will gain a +1 bonus to Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma Saving Throws.

This makes for a fairly useful defensive item for Githyanki.

The Circlet of Psionic Revenge is located inside a chest in the Inquisitor’s Chamber in Crèche Y’llek, accessible at the start of Act 2 when taking the Mountain Pass route.

Boots of Psionic Movement

The Boots of Psionic Movement are very rare boots that allow the wearer to fly and bestow additional bonuses on Githyanki.

The wearer of these boots can cast Fly once per Long Rest and gains a +1 bonus to Dexterity Saving Throws. If the wearer is Githyanki, their next attack after flying will do 1d4 extra Psychic damage.

The Boots of Psionic Movement are dropped by Ch’r’ai Har’rak in the Knights of the Shield Hideout, Act III.

Aberration Hunters’ Amulet

The Aberration Hunters’ Amulet is an uncommon amulet that gives extra buffs to the wearer, especially if they are Githyanki.

The wearer can use a Bonus Action to gain Advantage on Attack Rolls against Aberrations for 3 turns. If the wearer is Githyanki, they will gain Advantage on Intelligence Saving Throws and impose Disadvantage on aberrations trying to attack them (these bonuses are always active as long as the amulet is equipped, independently of the aforementioned bonus action).

The Aberration Hunters’ Amulet is dropped by Ghustil Stornugoss in Crèche Y’llek.

Psionic Ward Armour

The Psionic Ward Armour is a rare Medium Armour chest piece with 15 Armour Class.

Anyone who wears this armour will heal for 1d4 Hit Points when they succeed a Saving Throw against a spell. In addition, a Githyanki wearer gains 50% Resistance to Psychic Damage. Note that resistances do not stack in BG3, so you cannot combine this with the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane to gain immunity to Psychic Damage.

The Psionic Ward Armour is dropped by Ch’r’ai Tska’an, one of the Githyanki ambushers who will attack your party near the road to Baldur’s Gate in Act II.

These are all the Githyanki items we could find in Baldur’s Gate 3.
