In this article we will be ranking the seven most powerful Legendary items in Baldur’s Gate 3, along with their their effects and how you can obtain them.

Legendary equipment is the most powerful type of equipment in BG3 – each legendary weapon or armour is unique, meaning there is only one of them to be found, and it’s always found in the same place, so you can always obtain the ones you want on your playthrough as long as you know where to find them.

Some Legendary Items have effects that are so useful that they enable an entire build or playstyle, and we will see a few of those in this article.

Without further delay, let’s get started!

Legendary Item #7 – Devotee’s Mace

Type: Mace

Name: Devotee’s Mace

Location: Summoned (See below)

Base Damage: 1d6+2 Bludgeoning, 1d8 Radiant

Extra Effects:

  • +3 Weapon Enchantment
  • Healing Incense Aura – An ability that heals yourself and allies within 9 metres by 1-4 HP per turn. Lasts for 10 turns. Once per Long Rest

How to get the Devotees Mace legendary in BG3

The legendary item Devotee’s Mace is an excellent weapon for your main healer such as the Cleric in Baldur’s Gate 3, as it lets them give your whole team some passive healing for 10 turns. The basic damage of the weapon isn’t that great, however. This weapon just makes it onto the list because of its usefulness for healing.

This mace is obtained in a different way to the other items on this list – it does not have a set location. Instead, a Cleric in your party must use their Divine Intervention action (unlocked at Level 10) to permanently summon the Mace.

However note that Divine Intervention can only be used once per Cleric, so instead of having Shadowheart summon the weapon, it may be wise to dismiss her for a moment, hire a Cleric Hireling to summon this for you, then get Shadowheart back in your party again. This way she retains access to Divine Intervention which can also be used as a powerful one-time damage or healing spell in combat.

Legendary Item #6 – Blood of Lathander

Type: Mace

Name: Blood of Lathander

Location: Rosymorn Monastary inside the Secret Chamber, found along the Mountain Pass route from Act 1 to Act 2.

Base Damage: 1d6+3 Bludgeoning

  • Lathander’s Blessing – Once per Long Rest, heal by 2-12 HP when your HP reaches zero. Nearby allies also restore 1-6.
  • Lathander’s Light – Emit a holy light in a 6 metre radius. Undead and Fiends entering the radius must succeed a Constitution Saving Throw or become blinded.
  • Lets you cast (a weaker version of) the Sunbeam Spell, once per Long Rest.
  • +3 Weapon Enchantment

How to get the Blood of Lathander Mace legendary in BG3 Baldurs Gate 3

The Blood of Lathander is a remarkable item because of how powerful it is relative to the point of the game when you obtain it. It is quite likely that this is the first Legendary item you will encounter in your playthrough, found on the path between Act 1 and Act 2 in BG3.

While the actual basic attack of the weapon isn’t that good, it more than makes up for this with its other characteristics. The version of the Sunbeam Spell granted by the mace is weaker than the spell you can eventually unlock at Level 11, as this version does not allow you to recast it each turn with Concentration. However, it still deals a high amount of Radiant damage in a long linear AOE, a very powerful effect throughout Act 2 when you are surrounded by shadow-cursed undead enemies who are weak to Radiant damage.

The Lathander’s Light also offers you some early protection against the Shadow Curse when you’re starting out in Act 2. However, you’ll quickly learn that you need to find a better way of lighting the way through this part of the game.

The Cleric Build will love the Blood of Lathander as it gives them an extra strong AoE spell to cast in BG3.

Still, this weapon’s specific strength against the enemies you’ll begin facing soon after finding it make it very desirable to have in your arsenal.

How to get the Blood of Lathander in BG3

To find the weapon you’ll need to either talk or fight your way into the Githyanki Créche in the Rosymorn Monastery. After the climax of your encounter with these Githyanki, you can solve a simple hidden puzzle involving two rotating statues to discover a hidden chamber. At the end of this chamber you can find the Blood of Lathander.

There is a safe way to obtain it, by completing another puzzle, and a definitely not-safe way (taking the mace without completing the second puzzle). I’ll refrain from writing further information about this here as I don’t want to spoil the encounter for those who haven’t done it before. I will however strongly recommend making a quick save before picking up the mace if you decide to abandon caution here.

Next to it you see a Painted Chest that is locked. You need
