Skills for the Warrior Build

Here we will discuss the Skills used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Vocation Build. The Warrior Build uses the following Skills:

Situational Skills

Skyward Sunder – [ Heavenward Sunder ]

Your first skill you will start with, Skyward Sunder, will be very effective throughout leveling and will be one of your primary offensive tools.  This skill can be charged and delivers high damage and is effective and knocking targets off balance.  What is critically important is the weapon can hit multiple times on large targets, maintaining its effectiveness in the long term.  Aim it towards weak spots on large creatures for multiple hits.

Rending Sweep – [ Razing Sweep ]

This will be used for dealing with packs of multiple smaller enemies.  Used in conjunction with a taunt, this skill is highly effective for grouping targets and charging a sweep.  This is your horizontal field clearing skill.  As it upgrades, it will be effective at knocking targets down on the second attack of a charged swing.

Arc of Might

Warrior’s Maister Teaching is a long charge that will produce a devastating blow.  This is a good skill for large creatures that are knocked down or stationary.  While a Stonesplitter (heavy attack) to the head is also a great option, this can act as a full on finisher to a fight or a significant chunk of it.  This is a fantastic choice to have when your Mage pawn has Celestial Paean activated, as you will lose no stamina.

Knoll Breaker – [ Mountain Breaker ]

This is a specialty type skill that doesn’t deliver much damage but is highly effective at knocking targets down.  Since our other skills cover dealing with smaller targets, this is effective at hitting large targets off balance and knocking them to the ground.  Once they are downed, you are able to climb them and use Stonesplitter on weakpoints and deliver an extremely large blow on large targets.

Situational Skills

Bellow – [ Roar ]

Generally this is better used for pawns as the Arisen naturally will draw aggression in fights.  This is simply put an area of effect taunt that will draw enemies in the area to attack you.  The Warrior Vocation has an ample amount of health and uses heavy armor, so they are better suited to take damage in the party.  Additionally, they have high stagger resistance allowing them to deliver charged attacks.  This will synergize well with Repulse.

Goring Lunge – [ Ravening Lunge ]

This is an effective skill for smaller to medium targets to charge into fights with an position.  It’s included moreso for the fun faction and it is quite effective as well for its purpose.  Tighter longer hallways will allow you to charge in and center in a wider area of targets to charge up a Rending Sweep.

Core Skills for the Warrior Build

Here we will discuss the Core Skills (Passives) used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build.  All Core skills can be learned and are passively applied.

Mighty Sweep – Your basic light attack, can be comboed with timing once you obtain Chain of Blows.

Stonesplitter – A slow heavy attack that must be used on knocked down targets.  This deals a very large amount of damage and is critical to the Warrior Vocation.  When large creatures are downed, climb above onto their heads and use this skill to see impressive punishment.

Barge –  An effective flinching tool that is very quick and can be leveraged between attacks.  It is also useful for canceling a charged attack if your target has unexpectedly moved away.  It is a good lead-off tool on smaller targets if they’re about to strike as it can interrupt and flinch them.

Bulwark – Passively reduce damage while charging attacks.

Breakneck Strike – Timing is key on the warrior when you release charged attacks.  This will enhance the damage if the swing is released at the moment you are fully charged.

Chain of Blows – Enables successive light attacks at the end of each backswing.  This is useful when your stamina is low or depleted, as it costs none to use.  Can be effectively spammed after leading into a fight with Barge.

Repulse – Effectively used after taunting all enemies, but especially larger targets.  Using a Knoll Breaker as a large target is striking you will send them off balanced and allow you to knock them down and deliver heavy damage.

DD2 Warrior Vocation Class Build

Augments

Here we will discuss the Skills used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build.  Note that you will need to level up several Vocations to obtain all of the Augments below.

  • Ambuscade (Archer Vocation) – Increases damage dealt by your attacks when targets are not in battle stance.
  • Exaltation (Mage Vocation) – Improves your Stamina Recovery Speed
  • Dominance (Warrior Vocation) – Augments your Knockdown Power
  • Endurance (Archer Vocation) – Increases your Maximum Stamina
  • Lethality (Archer Vocation) – Increases damage dealt when striking a target’s vitals
  • Verve (Thief Vocation) – Augments your Strength

Optimal Party Setup for the DD2 Warrior Build

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warrior Build functions as a tank and damage dealer in party.  Therefore we would benefit from the following pawn members:

  • Mage Vocation – Included for healing, boon enchantments, and potentially celerity for speed.  This may be ideal as a main pawn as it can be difficult to find a mage with all 3 of these buffs while leveling.
  • Sorcerer Vocation – Since our Mage will function as a buffer primarily, the sorcerer can assist with additional elemental damage for any situation.
  • Thief or Archer – This last spot is more flexible, but a thief can benefit by adding extra damage with downed targets.  Alternatively, the archer is great for downing flying targets and provides constant pressure on weak spots.

Equipment

Below is a setup that you can work towards obtaining as you progress through the game – it is quite expensive especially if you plan to fully upgrade everything, but if you get everything then your character will be very powerful. This is not just a list of the “best items” in the game – there are some items that are stronger than those below but are unreasonably time-consuming to obtain for most players or are only available so late in your playthrough that you will barely get to use them.

Don’t worry if cannot obtain everything on the list right now – just equip the best you have for the time being and replace or upgrade later on when you can.

In the early-game, focus on achieving enough knockdown resistance so that charge attacks are not interrupted.  Otherwise, primarily upgrading your weapon first and armor second is important.

Item Slot Item Description Where to Find
Weapon Wounded Heart A powerful Greatsword with high Strength and Knockdown Power. Purchase from Smithies for 48,000G
Head Fiendish Armet Offers a very good Defence boost. Purchase from Armouries for 34,000G

Legs Diabolic Cuisses Good Defence and Knockdown Resist. A little bit of extra elemental resistance, too. Purchase from Armouries for 34,000G
Cloak Any Cloaks have a fairly minor impact on stats, so use your best one or the one you find the most visually appealing N/A
Left Ring Ring of Acclamation Increases your Max Health by 200. Purchase from Apothecaries for 8,000G.
Right Ring Ring of Aggression Boosts your Strength by 30. 1% chance to drop from Knackers.

Please note that the purchasable items in the table above may not become available until you progress through the game to a certain point – if you are low level then you will only see fairly weak items in vendors.

When collecting equipment for your build, you may struggle with your Carrying Capacity being too low, especially in the early game. Fortunately, this is something that can be increased in various ways. We have a guide that explains all of the ways to improve Carry Capacity.

Equipment Upgrades

We recommend upgrading your equipment with the Battahli Smithing Style for an increase in the Strength stat of your gear, buffing your damage output.
