This Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build is a unique vocation that has access to all weapons in its arsenal. The Warfarer is a vocation exclusive to the Arisen that can use every weapon, and learn different skills from each vocation. By using diverse weapons, the Warfarer can respond to any situation and create combos that deal maximum mayhem on the battlefield.

The Warfarer’s lower base stats require them to utilize the situational strengths of different weapon types to be on par with other vocations with specialized strengths.

For a full listing of all of the Warfarer skills, please see the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Guide. If you want to unlock the Warfarer check out our How to Unlock the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide.

Warfarer Skills

Here we will discuss the Skills used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build.  The Warfarer Build uses the following Skills:

Situational Skills

Gut and Run – [ Draw and Quarter ]

The true punisher, this skill is only useable while clinging to large enemies or smaller downed ones.  Generally, Twin Fangs will be enough for smaller targets.  This skill is in our arsenal to handle larger enemies.  This skill does bonus damage to enemies weak spots.  Thus we want to climb typically to the creatures head and use this skill.  It will kick us off and dismount after completion.  Therefore, Twin Fangs can be used if your stamina is pretty high before you eventually Gut and Run and kick off the creature to regen some stamina.

Helm Splitter – [ Skull Splitter ]

A flying maneuver that will allow multiple strikes on large targets adding up for a powerful attack.  This is effective primarily for large targets and it will continuously make strikes as it goes up and comes down.  This leads one of the most powerful spammable tools that will scale in the game as you continue to upgrade weapons.  You should look to have a supportive Mage Vocation in the party that can use Celestial Paean.  This allows a window where you have infinite stamina and can essentially spam a powerful skill.  Helm Splitter will be the skill we intend to keep in this build for a spammable type damage option.

Dire Arrow – [ Deathly Arrow ]

A correctly charged shot with Steady Shot (Manual Aiming) will allow for a decent damage shot that can help stagger larger enemies and will knock down anything else.  This skill is not primarily used for its damage even though it is substantial on smaller targets.  We keep this skill for assist with knockdown on larger targets heads.  Ideally we will use our daggers for targets that are on the ground and able to be attacked with melee.  Dire Arrow can be leveraged to bring larger targets that may fly back to ground to reengage with melee.

Rearmament

This is the Warfarer Vocation skill allowing us to swap between weapons.  This is a required spot to swap between weapons for the Warfarerer build.

Situational Skills

These can be swapped out with Dire Arrow depending on your preference.  Dire Arrow is effective for large targets, but some may wish to have Biting Wind for its mobility.  The Thief vocation has an effective dodge though and the Archer Vocation is able to excel in quickly addressing all smaller targets through its highly effective Core Skills and powerful ranged attacks that scale effectively.  Despite that, Biting Wind is a comfort of mobility for some.  Additionally, other unqiue Arrow skill types can be positioned here for specific boss fights if you have the necessary consumeable arrows.

Exploding Shot – [ Erupting Shot ]

  • Drenching Shot
  • Tarring Shot
  • Blighting Shot

This is an alternate spot for your special arrow skills, with exploding being a highly effective option.  You shouldn’t need these for anything for larger targets and employ on more difficult enemies.  Feel free to rotate these skills and ensure your mages can take advantage of effects you place to see the powerful utility the archer can bring to a party.  If you were to fight a dragon for example weak to Ice, you would set your Pawns to ensure they have Ice to use and swap in Drenching Arrow to increase their damage and chance of freezing the target.

Biting Wind – [ Cutting Wind ]

A very effective gap closer that doubles use in avoiding damage while dealing it.  It allows you to maneuver the battlefield quickly and get to the appropriate targets quickly.  If there are ranged targets for example, you should quickly dash through and pressure these targets out.  Biting Wind will help avoid a lot of problematic positioning, and can be used in rapid succession.  Do not be afraid to relocate, it’s better than eating damage as a Thief.

Core Skills for the Warfarer Build in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Here we will discuss the Core Skills (Passives) used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build.  All Core skills can be learned and are passively applied.

We will be using all Skills from the Thief and Archer Vocations.  The Archer Vocation becomes highly effective at providing steady damage and allowing you to switch to melee when you choose.  Leaping Punt is a jump kick that is a highly effective Core Skill that causes significant Knockdown with a strong follow up attack.  This is useful against every single enemy you’ll encounter given it won’t cost you stamina to use.  When we have a vulnerable target, we can swap to melee and engage when openings present themselves and have the stamina ready to use it.

The goal of this build is to function much like the Strider Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 1.  As such, we will bring our highest damage in moments with melee and use the bow for everything else, which bridges the gaps of range the Thief Vocation lacks in Dragon’s Dogma 2.  Lastly, it is also possible to add a Mage Vocation to the mix to have Levitate available and Anodyne for yourself if you’re looking for a more self sustained build and gameplay experience.  This is not a bad consideration for any Warfarer setup to carry around as an option for exploration.

DD2 Warfarer Build Vocation Class

Augments

Here we will discuss the Augments used on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build.

  • Endurance (Archer Vocation) – Increases your Maximum Stamina.
  • Lethality (Archer Vocation) – Increases the damage dealt when striking a target’s vitals.
  • Exaltation (Mage Vocation) – Augments your Stamina Recovery Speed.
  • Verve (Thief Vocation) – Augments your Strength.
  • Ambuscade (Archer Vocation) – Increases damage dealt by your attacks when targets are not in battle stance.
  • Athleticism (Mystic Speadhand Vocation) – Reduces Stamina consumed while dashing.

Optimal Party Setup for the DD2 Warfarer Build

This Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer Build functions as a tank while providing buffed damage to the group.  Therefore a Mage will be recommended for general healing and celerity along with damage dealers.  Thus we would benefit from the following pawn members:

  • Mage Vocation – Included for group healing and boon buffs along with celerity.  Along with our buff, our choices will be extremely powerful.
  • Warrior Vocation – A Warrior can be doubled here for extreme knockdown power to pummel large targets.  For a more balanced approach, we can add a Sorcerer.
  • Sorcerer Vocation – Either providing our elemental area damage or we can double up with 2 Sorcerers that have matching skills along with our mage to create an elemental firestorm of power.  Use grouping with the members and try to match spells between both Sorcerers and even our Mage for synergized casting.

Equipment

Warfarers need equipment that makes it possible to use as many different weapons as possible while still dealing good damage.  Generally they shouldn’t get hit themselves and can wear other utility items such as weight reduction to make up for the carry weight of multiple weapons.  Medium to Light armor types should be used to manage weight.

  • Ring of Aggression – Boosts Strength by 30 for increasing damage.
  • Ring of Acclamation – Boosts Carry weight Moderately
  • Ring of Triumph – Boosts Health, Stamina, and Carry Weight.  A great Option for Warfarer.

When collecting equipment for your build, you may struggle with your Carrying Capacity being too low, especially in the early game. Fortunately, this is something that can be increased in various ways. We have a guide that explains all of the ways to improve Carry Capacity.
