The Magick Archer Vocation is unlocked by required questing through Gautstafr. The Magick Archer Maister will not speak with you unless you complete the quest. Speaking with Gautstafr outside the Windy Cave will begin the path of Unlocking the Magick Archer Vocation.
The Magick Archer is an unlockable hybrid vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, combining the Archer class with some of the magical prowess of the Mage class to create a unique move-set and playstyle. The Magick Archer can only be used by the Arisen, it is unavailable for Pawns.

Unlocking Magick Archer Vocation in DD2
Now we are going to show you step-by-step how to unlock the Magick Archer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How to Find Magick Archer Vocation Maister
The Magick Archer Vocation Maister, Cliodhna, is located in the third area of the map, the Agamen Volcanic Island. The main story will not take you to this area until fairly late in the game. However, you can get there sooner by taking a shortcut through a cave system called Drabnir’s Grotto along the south coast of Battahl. The cave is a little bit dangerous with some tough enemies inside, but nothing too monstrous – you will mainly have to contend with orcs, rattlers and cyclops. If everyone in your party is around Level 25 then you should be good to go. It’s best to at least take a few healing supplies and a wakestone with you, just in case things go wrong. If you’re beaten up after finishing the cave and exiting the other side, you might want to camp so that you can recover before proceeding to start the quest.
When you exit Drabnir’s Grotto, follow the main path for a while until you see an old dwarf on the road, named Gautstafr. He will be complaining about his bad back and needing wildflowers. There are flowers nearby you can pick to give him three different kind. To make this easier, bring 3 different flower types before leaving town.
Completing Spring in Thy Step
This quest Spring in Thy Step will unlock the Magick Archer Vocation. When you first find Gautstafr, he will be clutching his back and complaining about the pain. You’ll be tasked with finding three wildflowers in the vicinity. Find them and return to Gautstafr.
Afterwards, he will ask you to carry him home which is Windwalker’s Home. This is an escort mission – it is fairly easy as there are not usually many enemies on the road, however Gautstafr walks very slowly – you can speed things up by grabbing him and carrying him to the destination. Once you arrive you will meet Cliodhna, who will now be happy to speak with you since you helped her husband to get home.
Once you have returned him home safely he will complain more about his back. To proceed, just talk to him and tell him you will escort him to the healing Springs at Volcanic Island Camp. Accept this and guide him along. He is easy to keep alive but you’ll encounter a few enemies including a potential griffon fight and minotaur. Once again you can carry him if you want to speed things up.
You will take him to the Volcanic Island Camp and go up the ladders in the center of town through a tunnel. At this point we will reach the Hot Spring and the quest will be completed. Cliodhna will speak to you and Unlock the Magick Archer. She will also teach you the Maister’s Teaching for the Magick Archer.
