Today we are going to look at how you can open the Ancient Door at the start after the crash with the ship in Baldur’s Gate 3. After you crash with the Nautiloid ship you land in the Ravaged Beach. If you head east you will notice an “Ancient Door” that is locked. If you manage to get past it you will enter the Dank Crypt.
The Ancient Door is right next to the Ancient Rune Circle waypoint that you can see on the right side of the image.
How to open the Ancient Door at Ravaged Beach
What you need is a Thieving Tool and a character that can lockpick with a high chance of success. If you don’t have any character that can do that well make sure to recruit Astarion into your group. He can also be found at the Ravaged Beach and he can lockpick the door for you.
You can find Theves’ Tools at the beach in barrels or on dead bodies, search everything and you should be able to find 2-3 of them.
Now with Astarion in your group it should be a lot easier to crack the Ancient Door open at Ravaged Beach in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Other ways to enter the area behind the Ancient Door
Even if you don’t manage to lockpick the door successfully there are other ways to enter the area behind the Ancient Door.
Wooden Door next to the Chapel
When you go up a bit further on the Ravaged Beach, basically above the Ancient Door. Keep going to the right side of the cliff at the Chapel. Climb down the Knotted Roots and you will find a hidden wooden door. You will also have to lockpick this to open the door and get into the Dank Crypt. This is one alternative to enter the Dank Crypt.
Cracked Floor at the Chapel
Another possible entry point is when you destroy the cracked floor at the Chapel. You can hit the big hanging stone above with an arrow or a spell and it will fall down and break the floor. It might also instantly defeat one or two of the guards there.
After finishing the other enemies around you can enter the cracked floor by jumping into the hole. However, be aware that there are more enemies down there that will engage you right away.
Ornate Door Frontdoor
Instead of jumping down into the hole you can also try to open the door that leads into the Chapel. If you use Astarion you have a good chance to get the Deception roll right and he will let you into the Bedchamber area.
