Welcome to the Weapon Type/Class Tier List for Throne & Liberty. In this guide, we will explain the strengths and weaknesses of the different weapon types in Throne and Liberty, and rank them by their overall strength.

You can also create your own Tier list with the Throne and Liberty Tier List Maker.

There are no Classes in the traditional sense in Throne & Liberty. Instead, your class (your available skills and passives) is determined by which weapons you have equipped. You can equip two different weapons and choose your skills and passives from those associated with your chosen weapons. If you want to take a look at all types, check out the Throne and Libety Weapon Types Guide. You can also find all builds on the Throne and Liberty Builds Database.

Things that we will consider when ranking the weapons are the damage potential of each weapon, the utility of the weapon for group play, and how safe and easy the weapon is to use (playing melee-only is generally more difficult than having a ranged weapon, as most enemies have at least one melee attack that you can completely avoid).

D-Tier Weapons in Throne & Liberty

In this section, we will cover the D-Tier weapons. Just because they ranked at the lowest level it doesn’t mean that they are useless weapons, but they do have less usefulness than the other weapons in the game.

Sword & Shield

The Sword and Shield is a weapon that excels at one thing – filling the tank role in group play. With the Sword & Shield equipped, you have unmatched survivability and the ability to taunt and crowd-control enemies. However, this weapon is the worst at everything else. It doesn’t do good damage, and in any other situation besides tanking with a group, you are better off using another weapon. The damage output of Sword & Shield is not good, and it has no ranged attacks, making it a poor choice for a DPS weapon.

If you do want to specialise in playing as a group support role though, the Sword and Shield is a very important weapon for you. In this case, pairing it with the Wand & Tome is an obvious choice, since this weapon not only comes with its own support options but also provides you with some much-needed range.

C-Tier Weapons

A step above the D-Tier, weapons in the C-Tier are more broadly useful, but still lacking in power compared to those in the S, A and B tiers.

Staff

The Staff is a DPS weapon that is heavily focused on powerful AOE spells. In situations with many enemies in the same place, the staff can really excel, and this is a great weapon for farming mobs.

While the staff will make you the master of AOE damage, you will be somewhat lacking in single-target damage. Most of the Staff skills also have a pretty long cooldown, which is another problem with the weapon.

The Staff can be paired in a couple of different ways. You can either pair it with the Wand & Tome for a full mage build, or you can pair it with a weapon that lacks AOE damage such as the Daggers, to inject some AOE potential into your build.

B-Tier Weapons

From this point onwards, there is not much difference between how good the weapons are. It is very difficult to separate the remaining weapons into different tiers, as they are all strong. However, the B-tier weapons, while certainly powerful, lack some of the versatility of the weapons in the A and S tiers.

Daggers

The Daggers are an interesting case – their skills and passives are largely built around poisoning your enemies for an extra DoT and increasing your critical damage output. Thanks to the Vicious Fangs passive, poisoning an enemy will increase your critical chance even further.

The damage over time element of the daggers has the problem that it doesn’t feel all that impactful most of the time. This is especially true in shorter fights, which make up the vast majority of combat engagements in Throne & Liberty. While you undoubtedly get more value from this poison damage in longer boss fights in dungeons and raids, it still remains mostly unnoticeable. The daggers also lack range and are very single-target focused for the most part, however, they do give you great mobility, which can be a lifesaver.

The Daggers can be combined with the Crossbow to create a traditional assassin archetype, however, it is quite common to combine them with every weapon in the game apart from Sword & Shield, as doing so allows you to obtain higher Crit Chance and Crit Damage on a variety of playstyles than would otherwise be possible.

A-Tier Weapons

A-Tier weapons are excellent choices for your primary weapon, offering a powerful selection of abilities and excellent damage potential. They only suffer from one or two minor shortcomings that prevent them from reaching the S-Tier.

Greatsword

If you favour a melee-focused or melee-only playstyle, the Greatsword is the strongest option in Throne & Liberty at the moment. The Valiant Brawl skill is great for dispatching enemies quickly, making it especially good for leveling up your character, and as you level up your single-target damage will become better and better. The Greatsword also has good mobility and decent crowd-control ability, making it a potential secondary weapon for tanks.

While it is the strongest melee weapon in Throne & Liberty, this does not completely remove the Greatsword from the issues presented by melee weapons – while wielding the Greatsword you will be more vulnerable to enemy attacks than you would be with a ranged setup. You can partially get around this problem by pairing the Greatsword with a ranged weapon like the Longbow.

Another potential pairing for the Greatsword is with the Daggers, allowing you to gain extra critical chance and damage on your already powerful single-target attacks.

Crossbow

The Crossbow offers accurate, rapid-fire single-target damage. It allows you to apply the Weakened debuff to enemies, with some skills dealing extra damage to targets with the Weakened debuff. The Crossbow also comes with some basic utility, for example allowing you to convert health to mana.

The weakness of the Crossbow is that it is entirely single-target, and in spite of its high attack speed, its damage output is generally slightly lower than the Longbow.

Nevertheless, you can pair the Crossbow with any other weapon to add some ranged ability to your build.

S-Tier Weapons in Throne and Liberty

The S-Tier weapons are the best options in the game in terms of their damage output, versatility, and ease of use.

Longbow

The Longbow is a very strong DPS weapon in Throne & Liberty. It offers players the damage potential of the Greatsword with the bonus of long-range.

Not only does the Longbow come with excellent DPS output, but it also has skills like Nature’s Blessing that allow you to heal yourself and your allies, making the Longbow a viable secondary weapon for healers.

You can combine the Longbow with the Crossbow for a fully ranged archer build, or you can instead use it with a melee weapon for a hybrid playstyle – Greatsword and Longbow is an excellent choice for maintaining high DPS, for example.

Wand and Tome

While it has some DPS potential, the primary purpose of the Wand & Tome is support, and it excels in this role. You can use this weapon to heal and buff allies, debuff enemies and cause Crowd Control via the Sleeping effect.

For solo play, the Wand & Tome is less effective but still viable. But in group play this weapon absolutely excels.

You can use it on a tank in combination with the Sword & Shield to greatly improve your tank’s support capabilities. If you are a Healer this will be your main weapon. And if you are a DPS player who wants to create a mage/wizard build, then combining Wand & Tome with the Staff is an obvious choice.

This is the most versatile weapon in the game and is vital for group play, which is why it fits perfectly into the S-tier.
