Welcome to the best guide on How to Unlock Mentat Trainers and Locations in Dune Awakening.  The Mentat Trainer locations will be shown on the maps below.  If your starting class is a Mentat, you will skip to the Advanced Mentat Trainer quest.  Otherwise, you will begin with the Basic Unlock Trainer for Mentat.

Unlock Basic Mentat Trainer Location

The Mentat Trainer is Samin Moro who is located in Riftwatch on the Southern tip of Hagga Rift.  Riftwatch is a Harkonnen outpost that is located directly East of Anvil Tradepost in Eastern Vermillius Gap.

First Blood – Quest 1


(1)Speak with Samin Moro and she will ask you to retrieve some simple items: 100x Plant Fiber and 40x Iron Ore. These can be collected anywhere in the area of Vermillius, and can be prepared in advance before you travel to her. (2)Afterwards you’ll go West to the Eastern Vermillius Gap by Suk Alusus.Mentat Trainer Location Dune Awakening

When you arrive in the valley region, go straight into the tunnel and you’ll find a shielded door with a bracelet to enter right nearby. Enter here and plant the poison in a container just to the left.  While you are here, there is a secret tunnel you can climb behind in this room for good early game blueprints I do recommend.

Once completed, speak with Samin Moro and she will complete the beginning training of the Mentat skill line.

This will now unlock the Mentat Skill tree.

Unlock Advanced Mentat Trainer Location

The Mentat Advanced Trainer is Zayn De Witte who is located at the bar in Arrakeen.  We can travel to Arrakeen for free once we acquire an Ornithopter or pay 2500 Solaris to fly there from a Tradepost. I would HIGHLY recommend waiting until you have an ornithopter as all of the activities will take you much longer without one.

Calculated Calamity – Quest 2

Once you arrive in Arrakeen, you will enter the bar immediately on the right and head to the back to speak with Zayn de Witte. He will request you interrogate the Mobula Gang.

The Mobula Gang Member is located at Anvil Tradepost in Eastern Vermillius. Speak with him and he will direct you to another gang member in Riftwatch, just East of Anvil. This gang member will direct you to the Sweep.

When you arrive at the Sweep, there will be a document in a case to interact with. Next, you will sabotage a generator which is just next to this document. Lastly, you will drop below and sabotage a vehicle. Once you’ve completed these, you will head to the Chattel Passage Northeast of here.

At Chattel’s Passage, you will loot a case and sabotage a terminal inside this building. After this you’ll return to Arrakeen and speak with Zayn. This quest completion will earn you trust with the Mentat trainer to continue your quest and enable training.

An Olive Branch / Underhanded Hand-Over – Quest 3

Zayn will send you to discuss this information further with Thufir Hawat.

If you are aligned with House Harkonnen, you will seek out Piter de Vries instead in Harko Village. Piter will request you return to Zayn and report back findings unknowingly to him. For this quick task, Zayn will complete this quest and begin your Mentat training.

This will Unlock Skills at Advanced Mentat Trainer to 2, allowing you to put up to 2 points in all but your non-Capstone skills.

Cataloging Defectors – Quest 4

NOTE: You will need a tool to withdraw blood and store it in a bag for this quest.


You will now head to Hagga Rift and find the Arctus Cavern to track down Atredeis defectors. You’ll have a platform you can land on in Hagga Rift at the Arctus Cavern and kill your way downstairs where the boss is located. After draining some Atredeis defectors, you will have to kill their leader.  Use your Blood Extractor tool to get the blood from the leader.  Once completed, return to Zayn in Arrakeen.

This will Unlock Skills at Advanced Mentat Trainer to 3, allowing you to put up to 3 points in all but your non-Capstone skills.

A Bloody Development – Quest 5

This quest will be short for neutral/Atredeis members as you will need to speak with Thufir Hawat in Arrakeen.  After speaking with him, return to speak with Zayn and you will complete this quest.

As a House Harkonnen pledge this quest again contained deceit. Zayn requests you to return to Thufir Hawat, however if you are pledged to Harkonnen you will return to Harko Village and speak with Piter. Piter will tell you to lie again to Zayn and return to him without speaking to Thufir. Once you return Zayn will be disappointed but will teach you the next skill in advancement.

This will Unlock Skills at Advanced Mentat Trainer to 4, allowing you access to the Hunter-Seeker skill.

The Price of Rejection – Quest 6

The next quest will have you infiltrating the Passage of Artemis to assassinate an informant. This is a high level area that also has PvP active as well. Your first goal here is to move towards a specific objective point outside the front of the building. Next, you must place a Decoy by this same area to clear the next objective.

Finally, you must deploy a Hunter-Seeker into a specific small vent on the smaller building that is connected in the back with a bridge. You can see the vents have lights that are blinking. Fly the Hunter-Seeker inside the vent to assassinate the target. You may have to use this more than once if it fails to hit the target.  Press Q to activate and strike the target with a Hunter Seeker.

Lastly, you will deploy a Poisonous Trap to cover your tracks. Now you will be able to return to Zayn in Arrakeen.

This will Unlock Skills at Advanced Mentat Trainer to 5, allowing you access to the Source of Power skill.

Untwisted Questions – Quest 7

NOTE: You will need a radiation suit and a light source for this quest.

In our final quest, we will start off going to Pinnacle Station and finding the Tleilaxu Trader. He will send us to Sheol where we must go deep into a radiation zone and PvP area. The Wreck of Delphis can be entered from multiple areas. You can enter from multiple sides and it will be extremely dark.  There will be light sources on bodies near the entrances of Delphis if you haven’t brought one.

You will have to wind towards the back of the ship, but it will not require picking up a bracelet to obtain the quest item.  While here, it is worth getting the purple bracelet and accessing to the loot chest in the back West side of Delphis.  It’s important to have our radiation suit on before entering the Wreck in order to have enough time to get to our destination.

Once you have retrieved that you can head back to Arrakeen to speak with Zayn. Zayn will thank you and teach you the final Capstone skill. Additionally, you will get a unique rifle, Thufir’s Best.

This will Unlock Skills at Advanced Mentat Trainer to 6, allowing you access to the Shield of Overcharge skill.
