Welcome to our Orengall Build Guide for Soulframe. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can create a powerful Orengall build that deals high damage. The build is good for both solo and co-op play.

Orengall is an unlockable Pact in Soulframe. It allows you to summon spirit wolves to help you in combat.

This Orengall build is up to date with Soulframe Preludes 11. We will continue to update it as Soulframe evolves in the run-up to its full release.

Orengall Pact Overview

Be one with the pack of the Omen Shewolf Orengall. Prowl the Furthing packlands by light of lridris, a silent assassin of fang and claw. May your bite be fierce and your love be fiercer.

The Orengall Pact has affinity with the Spirit virtue. Increasing your Spirit makes your Arcanics last longer, which means you can have more Spirit Wolves active at once.

The spirit wolves are the defining feature of the Orengall class in Soulframe – they fight your enemies, which is not only useful for the extra damage, but they also tend to distract them. This helps a lot when you are fighting a boss or when outnumbered.

Orengall Arcanics

The Orengall Pact has the following Arcanics:

Arcanic Description

Soulframe Werewalker

Werewalker

Your soul scouts ahead without being detected by enemies. You can perform a powerful attack against an enemy and teleport yourself to the new location.

Soulframe Spirit Wolf

Packhunter

Summon a spectral wolf who will aid you in battle and draw the attention of enemies. You can have several wolves summoned at once.

Soulframe Howl

Howl

Sing your bloodsong. Increases courage and Smite Chance for you and your party. Ode’n hounds temporarily turn on their masters.

Orengall Playstyle

Orengall can feel quite weak at low levels because their attack damage is low, and they can only have one spirit wolf summoned at a time due to its high base cooldown and low duration. If you’re struggling at this point in the game, try to stick to the western part of the map where enemies are low-level and much easier to fight.

You can immediately begin using Werewalker to initiate combat, allowing you to take out one enemy immediately. Try to focus on the stronger enemies. This skill can even one-shot Bannarets. You can run faster than usual with Werewalker active, so you can use it to travel around a little faster. Remember to left click to attack before the duration of Werewalker runs out (even if you are attacking thin air) to teleport your character to the wolf’s location, otherwise you’ll be returned back to your starting point when the skill expires!

Once you get to Level 20, things start to get much better if you have built Orengall correctly. You should ideally use Packhunter on cooldown, which should now allow for three or even four wolves summoned at a time. The wolves deal more damage now and are capable of taking out weaker enemies on their own, and they’re great at distracting them, too. With multiple wolves summoned, you can be more aggressive in combat and attain a decent damage output as an Orengall player.

Howl boosts the Courage and Smite chance of you, your wolves and any players you are grouped with. This skill feels a little weak when playing solo, but you can use it to temporarily make enemy hounds fight for you.

How to Unlock Orengall in Soulframe

To unlock Orengall, you must complete the Shewolf Snared fable.

You can then visit Tuvalkane to craft the Orengall Pact. This requires a Bond of Level 3 with Tuvalkane.

Orengall Build Best Virtues

The most important Virtue for the Orengall Pact is Spirit. You should put most or all of your points into Spirit.

Having high Spirit will increase the duration of your Arcanics (especially important for us, since this means you can have more wolves active simultaneously), increase the damage of your wolves and of weapons attuned to Spirit.

I do not recommend building into Courage or Grace under any circumstances with Orengall, because this will significantly weaken Packhunter for no worthwhile benefit.

Orengall Best Equipment

In this section, we will explain the best armour to wear as Orengall, and the best weapons to equip.

Orengall Best Armour Setup

Currently, the armour system in Soulframe isn’t very complicated. There are three armour stats – Physical, Magic and Stability.

  • Physical reduces the damage you take from physical attacks, such as ordinary weapon strikes and arrows.
  • Magic reduces the damage you take from all magical attacks, such as lightning and fire spells.
  • Stability improves your resistance to stagger effects, making it harder for enemies to stun you or knock you to the ground.

All three of these stats add up to give you a total armour rating, which is visible in the top-right of your character menu.

There are currently no armour pieces or sets that grant special effects, so you should keep crafting better armour until you have the highest possible rating in each armour stat.

Note that it is sometimes better to have a balanced armour distribution that is a little lower on your overall armour stat. For example, having 5 points in each armour stat for a total armour of 15 is better than having 18 points all in physical armour.

Orengall Best Weapons

While at a low level, you might want to use a ranged weapon as Orengall, as you can stay fairly safe from most enemies by kiting and shooting. This is helpful because Orengall is quite weak to begin with.

Once you’ve levelled up a few times, you can switch to a melee weapon and have an easier time thanks to your wolf companions, who can distract and stagger multiple enemies at once.

I’ve been having a lot of success with the Short Blade weapon type. With a Short Blade equipped, your character will dual-wield shortswords or daggers, allowing for rapid, high-damage attacks with a very generous Smite chance. After sufficient upgrades, your Smites will absorb HP from enemies, allowing you to easily sustain your HP even with Orengall’s lack of innate healing abilities.

Short Blades have a surprisingly decent amount of cleave, so you can hit several enemies with a single attack.

The main weakness of Short Blades is their low stagger, but your wolves help a lot with this by distracting enemies, and their bites will sometimes knock enemies over, too. This allows you to use one of the highest DPS weapon types in Soulframe and partially negate some of their largest downsides.

Make sure you obtain a Spirit Attuned Short Blade weapon; otherwise, your damage output will be quite low.

Reforge your Short Blades with soulframe verite Verite: Blessed by Iridis, which will grant extra damage, increased perfect throw damage and reduced stability cost when parrying an attack. This Reforge Joinery also allows you to use any Short Blades with this build, even if they are not originally a Spirit-attuned weapon.

Orengall Best Sidearm

Sidearms are small weapons, usually in the short blade category. They can be equipped in your Sidearm weapon slot, allowing you to swap to that weapon at any time.

You can choose any Spirit attuned Sidearm. Since our main weapon also falls into the Short Blade category, we don’t need the Sidearm much. It is quite good for throwing, though, because the aiming is a bit imprecise with the dual-wielded Short Blade that we are using as a primary weapon.

You should Reforge your Sidearm with either soulframe verite Verite: Blessed by Iridis for maximum damage, or soulframe gildaur Gildaur: Blessed by Iridis for slightly less damage but with added Life Steal.

Orengall Best Runes & Totems

For your Short Blades, I recommend slotting the following Runes and Totems:

Slot Item Effect How to Obtain
Rune Everflame +1 Attack Totem Slot, Flame Damage Bonus Loot from Discharged Nimrod boss
Attack Totem 1 The Scavenger (Rat) Attacks deal extra damage to a nearby enemy Free or charm Rats
Attack Totem 2 The Scavenger (Rat) Attacks deal extra damage to a nearby enemy Free or charm Rats
Defence Totem The Crowned (Deer) Increases your Stability Free or charm Deer
Utility Totem The Messenger (Squirrel) Extra Smite chance on attacks Free or charm Squirrels

The Runes and Totems on your sidearm are much less important because there’s no reason to use it most of the time. But you can go with a similar setup if you have the spare Runes and Totems.

Please note that Runes have a low drop rate, so you might need to defeat the Discharged Nimrod boss several times before you obtain the Everflame rune.

You can learn more about these upgrades in our Runes & Totems Guide.

Combat Arts Upgrade Priority

As you use the weapons mentioned above, you will gain XP towards upgrading the Combat Arts for those weapon types.

In this section, we have some advice for levelling up your Combat Arts for this Orengall Build.

Short Blade

Short Blade is the most important weapon type for our Orengall build. Here is how I recommend you level up your Combat Arts for this weapon:

  1. Smite
  2. Perfect Throw
  3. Momentum
  4. Smite Rank 2
  5. Smite Rank 3
  6. Riposte
  7. Swift Parry
  8. Vaunt
  9. Spectre Strike
  10. Misdirection

Momentum is a great Combat Art for Short Blades. It builds up bonus damage on consecutive attacks, which plays very well with the rapid attack speed of daggers. Besides that, we want to get a high Smite chance to deal more bonus damage. Remember to press the Spirit Vision button when Smite procs on an enemy (look out for the glowing soul).

Orengall Build Short Blade Upgrades

Orengall Upgrade Priority

We recommend upgrading your Orengall Pact in the following order:

  1. Soulbound
  2. Iridis’ Favour
  3. Feral
  4. Akin
  5. Rooted
  6. Wingspan
  7. Sympathy
  8. Iridis’ Favour Rank 2
  9. Iridis’ Favour Rank 3
  10. Soulbound Rank 2
  11. Soulbound Rank 3
  12. Soulbound Rank 4
  13. Sympathy Rank 2
  14. Iridis’ Favour Rank 4
  15. Voided

Our primary focus here is to maximise your Spirit Value, fully unlock the Soulbound passive and grab Sympathy, which allows you to absorb HP from enemies when you activate Smite.

Increasing your Spirit as much as possible will improve your damage output with weapons (as long as your weapon is Spirit attuned), increase the damage of your summoned wolves and increase the duration of your Arcanics, which indirectly allows you to have more wolves summoned at the same time.

Soulbound further boosts your weapon damage output, as long as you stick close to one of your summoned wolves.

Sympathy synergises very well with our choices for the Short Blade Combat Arts shown above, since we maximised Smite Chance.

I find that one point in Rooted is enough to stop enemies from knocking you over easily, as long as you can avoid the most obvious heavy attacks.
