High Isle Zone & Legacy of the Bretons Year Long Story for ESO

We are going to a new zone that has never been seen before in any of the Elder Scrolls games, High Isle. The focus on this years chapter is to explore Breton lore and culture. The story is being told over four major updates this year. The chapter will have a more back to the roots approach and will feel more like a classic Elder Scroll game.

The Bretons are this traditional medieval feudal society with with knights, noble houses and, of course all the politics that surround that.

The Three Banners War is raging throughout Tamriel and it has left that land fractured with all the factions vying for power over Cyrodiil and the Imperial City. This year long story is focused on a dream to end that war.

The Systres island chain high isle chapter

High Isle is one of the four islands in the Systres Archipelago, which is an island chain located far to the southwest of Daggerfall and northwest of Summerset and has only ever been documented by a single map in Redguard.

In High Isle you are going to see that this is the epitome of Breton culture. This is feudal medieval castles and tournament grounds. This is a resort destination for Tamriel’s wealthy. And because it is far removed from the mainland it is a bit of a save haven and therefore a perfect location for secret peace talks between the alliance delegates. The peace talks are being hosted by the Society of Steadfast, which is a new faction led by an extremely wealthy noble in High Isle named Baron Vacaro.

Of course there are also groups out there that want to profit and gain power due to the war. Any hint of peace talks could quickly result in an opposition and sabotage. The Ascendant Order, being led by the Ascendant Lord are the main villains of this years High Isle Chapter.

Ingame Card Game “Tales of Tribute” for ESO

The High Isle Chapter will also introduce a new Card Game called Tales of Tribute for ESO (Elder Scrolls Online). This is a collectible card game that is played entirely within ESO. The Tales of Tribute card game can be played anywhere in the game. You will find it in taverns throughout Tamriel, you can also go up to another player and challenge them directly. Or you can use the group UI finder similar to how the Dungeon finder works.

The Tales of Tribute card game in ESO will also feature a story line that you can advance by challenging certain NPCs throughout the world in ESO. Or you can play against other players as it has its own ranking system as well. So basically you can play the Tales of Tribute card game as a singleplayer game against NPCs or as a multiplayer game against real players.

Once you complete the tutorial you will earn 4 starter card decks and that is what gets you into playing right away. As you explore the world and complete quests for the card game you will start to unlock and find new patron decks that add to your cards. You will also find unique individual upgraded cards as well, there is a lot of exploration possible with this system.

The Tales of Tribute cards game in ESO is a resource building game where both players work towards trying to reach the victory point goal and you can do that in a bunch of different ways. You can use the patrons themselves to curry favor, to help you advance through it. So it is all about strategy rather than combat.

Essentially you want to get to a certain number of points, gather the most resources before your opponent does.

Possible rewards for playing the Tales of Tribute card game:

  • Cosmetics
  • Furnishings
  • Gold
  • Crafting Materials
  • Transmute Stones
  • and more…

Lastly, it is important to understand that if you are playing against someone who has already unlocked all the cards and the upgrades you won’t be at a disadvantage. The decks of both players are shuffled together and both players play from that same common deck.

2 Companions: Ember and Isobel that will join ESO

With the High Isle Chapter launch we are also getting two new Companions, Ember the Khajiit and Isobel Velois a Breton. Ember grew up on the streets so she is a little bit morally flexible if you will. She is clever and she is a bit wild and she has a taste for magic. Isobel on the other hand is an aspiring knight who leans towards the honorable ideal.
