Amamiya Mirei Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive
Here is an overview of Amamiya Mirei’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.
Basic Skills
One-Winged
Mirei delivers a chain of graceful sword strikes in quick succession. Her damage increases when attacking from behind.
Despite being only light attacks, these are pretty good because they have a wide sweeping area of impact and Mirei launches forward when using them. They are very good for quickly clearing hordes of weaker enemies.
Dance of the Raven
Mirei spins quickly to slash forward, then continues the motion to deliver a powerful forward slash.
This is Mirei’s heavy attack – press C to activate it. It deals more damage than One-Winged, but it’s slower and has a narrower area of impact. I recommend using this when you want single-target damage, but stick to One-Winged for trash fights.
Wings of Night
Mirei quickly approaches the enemy, performs a series of slashes, then stabs the target from behind them. She quickly steps back while slashing and restores a small amount of her Power Gauge.
Press Q to activate Wings of Night. It allows Mirei to teleport behind an enemy. Well-timed, you can use this to avoid a frontal enemy attack while continuing to attack them. It’s also good to get into a habit of using this because all of Mirei’s attacks deal bonus damage from behind, and this makes it quick and easy to get into that position.
Raven’s Cry
Mirei soars swiftly like a bird to deliver a powerful finishing strike, increasing this skill’s Critical Hit Damage.
Press E to activate Raven’s Cry. Mirei will leap into the air and perform one strong strike against the target. This is a good gap-closer and is good when you need a burst of damage.
Special Skills
Storm Raven
Mirei appears, using the smooth, flowing movements of a shadow, and delivers a powerful finishing strike. When she uses this skill, her MP Recovery Rate increases temporarily.
Storm Raven is a Support Skill, which means it is only available when Mirei is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as her directly. It can be used when Sung Jinwoo’s MP is low or when an Elemental Status Effect is active on nearby enemies.
Shadow Waltz
QTE Skill. Mirei harnesses the spin’s momentum to deliver a powerful strike, greatly restoring her Overdrive Gauge and Power Gauge.
Mirei automatically uses Shadow Waltz when you switch to her with Left Shift when prompted. Make sure you are in a good position to make the attack connect before making the switch.
Whispering Raven
Synchro Chain. Within the stillness, Mirei delivers a powerful strike that severs the enemy’s life line.
Whispering Raven is Mirei’s Synchro Chain skill. She uses it when you press T (when prompted) to activate your Hunter party’s Synchro Chain; all Hunters in the party will then activate their Synchro Chain at the same time.
Moonless Night Overture
Ultimate Skill. Oni Kuroha’s soul takes over, making Mirei become Possessed and completely turning the tide of battle.
Possessed resets the cooldown of her Basic Skill and increases her damage. Each attack leaves a sword mark that deals additional damage. Continuously consumes MP in regular intervals.
Press R when your ultimate is charged to activate Moonless Night Overture. Mirei’s attacks will all be empowered, dealing even more damage than usual.
Unique Skills
Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.
Back Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.
Deflect Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.
How to Play Amamiya Mirei
Amamiya Mirei is something of a glass cannon. Her rapid sword strikes deal very good DPS and she has the maneuverability to sustain this in very tough battles, but she is very squishy and easily knocked off balance, so it takes quite a lot of player skill and experience to get the most out of her. Remember to attack from behind as much as possible so her bonus damage doesn’t go to waste.
However, Mirei is especially skilled at Deflecting enemy attacks, and you can use Deflect even when she is tied up in certain animations (Stage 3 Basic Attack, Heavy Attack or Wings of Night).
When Mirei uses Deflect or Wings of Night, she gains Black Feather which increases her Critical Hit Rate and Critical Hit Damage for a short window of time. You can stack Black Feather up to three times.
Mirei’s Overdrive unleashes a powerful forward strike that deflects attacks and detonates sword marks placed on enemies by the Moonless Night Overture skill. The damage is also increased if you successfully deflect attacks using this skill. You can refill her Overdrive Gauge by using Basic Attacks, Combo Attacks or Deflecting.
With this in mind, to maximise Amamiya Mirei’s burst damage, you should apply Sword Marks to as many enemies as possible with Moonless Night Overture, then use Overdrive to detonate them. Timing the Overdrive to deflect an enemy attack is the final cherry on top of this combo that will make it as impactful as possible.
Getting all of this right every time will take some practice – keep experimenting with her skills until you feel comfortable with them.
Amamiya Mirei Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive
As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.
It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.
In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
Amamiya Mirei Best Equipment – SL Arise Overdrive
We will now review the best equipment available for Amamiya Mirei in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, including the best weapons and the best armour & artefacts. To help you progress through the lengthy level up and equipment grind, we have included setups for the early, mid and endgame.
Amamiya Mirei Best Weapons
The table below shows you the best weapon progression from early, mid and endgame. We have not included every upgrade tier along the journey, just the most important milestones so you can see which path to take and what benefits the most important weapons offer for Amamiya Mirei.
| Weapon | Description |
|---|---|
Steel Bracelet (D) |
To get the D-Tier Steel Bracelet, start with the basic E-Tier Bracelet. Upgrade it twice to D-Tier, and you can then craft the D-Tier Steel Bracelet.
This weapon provides no special effects, but gives a small boost to Mirei’s Attack and HP stats. |
Bunny Bunbun (C) |
After crafting the D-Tier Steel Bracelet, upgrade it twice to reach B-Tier. You can now craft Bunny Bunbun at C-Tier.
This buffs Mirei’s Attack and boosts her Critical Hit Damage. Using Deflect buffs her Critical Hit Damage further, stacking up to 20 times. Mirei’s Back Attack Damage is also increased while Possessed is active (after using her ultimate). |
Bunny Bunbun (S) |
Upgrade Bunny Bunbun three times to reach S-Tier.
This weapon gives a massive boost to Mirei’s Attack stat. The bonuses from the previous tiers are now much stronger, giving her massive Critical Damage. This is by far the best weapon available for Amamiya Mirei in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE. |
Amamiya Mirei Best Armour & Artefact Sets
Early Game Best Sets
In the early game, there aren’t many strong sets, so we just take whatever items we can get that will boost damage output. The Assassin gives you a decent buff to your Crit Rate and allows you to get bonus damage when you attack enemies from behind.
- Armour Set: Assassin
- [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Rate
- [4 Items] Damage dealt to enemies when attacking them from behind increases slightly.
- Jewelry Set: Put any items on Jewelry.
Mid Game Best Sets
The Black Lion set is similar to the Assassin set from earlier, giving you a boost to your damage output when you attack an enemy from behind. Viridescent gives more damage boosts and slightly reduces your skill cooldowns.
- Armour Set: Black Lion
- [2 Items] Increases Defense Penetration
- [4 Items] Very high chance to deal additional damage to the target proportional to your Attack when attacking from behind.
- Jewelry Set: Viridescent
- [2 Items] Very slightly reduces the user’s Basic Skill cooldown, but slightly increases their MP Consumption.
- [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill very slightly increases the user’s Basic Skill Damage Increase effect for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
Late Game Best Sets
We’re using the Corrupted Knight and Beast sets because they synergise quite well. The Beast Set boosts your Critical Damage and makes it so your Critical Chance ramps up over the course of a fight. Corrupted Knight boosts your Basic Skill damage whenever you land a Critical Hit. The Corrupted Knight set only requires 3 pieces, so we also equip the Burning Blessing Robe which grants a standalone bonus to Critical Hit Damage.
- Armour Set: Corrupted Knight
- [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack and Critical Hit Rate
- [3 Items] When the user lands an attack as a Critical Hit, it slightly increases their Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
- Standalone Armour Piece: Burning Blessing Robe
- [1 Item] Using a Basic Skill twice increases Critical Hit Damage of team members, including user, for a long period of time.
- Jewelry: Beast
- [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- [4 Items] If a Critical Hit isn’t activated, the chance of the next attack landing as a Critical Hit increases very slightly, stacking up to 30 times.
Alternative Option: You can use the Burning Curse Gloves instead of the Burning Blessing Robe. This will give you a flat increase to your Damage Dealt, but also increases your Damage Taken. I didn’t include this in the recommended setup because Mirei is already quite squishy, but if you’re very comfortable with avoiding damage when playing as her then you can give this option a try.
