Woo Jinchul Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive
Here is an overview of Woo Jinchul’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.
Basic Skills
Fist of Justice
Jinchul attacks by mixing jabs and hooks.
Fist of Justice is Woo Jinchul’s basic attack. You can activate it at any time by left-clicking. Chaining this skill together several times will eventually culminate in a more powerful punch that knocks your target over.
Suppress
Heavy Attack. Jinchul charges and throws a straight right-hand punch.
Activate Suppress by pressing C. You will charge forward and deliver one powerful punch, knocking over the target. This is good for basic crowd control and for quickly closing the gap to an opponent – this is especially important because Woo Jinchul only fights with his fists, so he has a shorter attack reach than any other Hunter.
Mediation of Power
With quick steps, the user moves to the target’s side in the input direction and delivers a two-handed hook, decreasing the cooldown of Iron Fist, then steps back quickly.
Press Q to activate Mediation of Power. On paper this is a good skill for quickly delivering a strong hit and then retreating to safety, but sometimes the skill is difficult to aim properly.
Iron Fist
After performing a double jab with his left hand, Jinchul throws a powerful hook with his right hand.
Press E to activate Iron Fist. You charge forward and deliver several punches, then slam the target to the ground. I like this skill because it does a big burst of single-target damage and will stun most enemies, allowing you to follow up with other attacks.
Special Skills
Justice Enforcement
After performing a quick two-handed hook, the user delivers a powerful straight punch. When the user uses this skill, they restore 1 Dash slot and additionally restores 1 Dash slot every 5 seconds. Restores up to 3 slots.
Justice Enforcement is Woo Jinchul’s Support skill, so it can only be used when he is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as Jinchul directly. The skill becomes available when Sung Jinwoo dashes twice in a row, or when an Elemental Status Effect is active on nearby enemies. It has a 90 second cooldown.
Judgment
QTE Skill. Jinchul approaches the enemy with lightning-like weaving and performs a powerful uppercut. He restores 2 Dash and Overdrive slots.
Jinchul’s QTE skill is automatically activated when you switch to him when prompted with Left Shift. Ensure you are in a suitable spot to hit an enemy with the attack before you make the switch.
Iron Fist of Justice
Synchro Chain. Jinchul attacks the enemy with lightning-fast movements.
Press T to activate your Synchro Chain when prompted. All Hunters in your party will perform their Synchro Chain skills simultaneously, usually resulting in a big burst of extra damage.
Serious Punch
Ultimate Skill. Jinchul performs an uppercut with all his heart.
Press R to activate Jinchul’s ultimate when it is fully charged. This is probably the simplest ultimate in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive. You deliver one mighty uppercut to the opponent, dealing heavy damage and knocking them over.
Unique Skills
Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.
Back Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.
Deflect Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.
How to Play Woo Jinchul
Woo Jinchul is quite mobile and his attacks are all very fast. Many of his attacks will stun or knock back their target, making it possible to stun some bosses several times in a row. You just need to be wary of your skill cooldowns and play safely when everything is on cooldown.
The main issue I had when playing as Woo Jinchul is that some of his skills are pretty hard to aim. They often feel jerky and seem to launch in unexpected directions – Mediation of Power is a particularly troublesome one. There’s not much you can do about that other than keep practicing and get used to his attack patterns.
You can activate Jinchul’s Overdrive ability by pressing V. This unleashes a flurry of punches at the target and gives you a stack of Combination. Each stack of Combination boosts your Attack power and Attack Speed for a few seconds, and you can have up to three stacks at once. You will restore one Overdrive slot every time you successfully use Extreme Evasion or Iron Fist.
Consistently regenerating your Overdrive and using it to maintain three constant stacks of Combination is the key to mastering Woo Jinchul’s skillset. It takes a bit of practice but it’s not an especially complicated mechanic.
Woo Jinchul Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive
As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.
It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.
In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
Woo Jinchul Best Equipment – SL Arise Overdrive
We will now review the best equipment available for Woo Jinchul in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, including the best weapons and the best armour & artefacts. To help you progress through the lengthy level up and equipment grind, we have included setups for the early, mid and endgame.
Woo Jinchul Best Weapons
The table below shows you the best weapon progression from early, mid and endgame. We have not included every upgrade tier along the journey, just the most important milestones so you can see which path to take and what benefits the most important weapons offer for Woo Jinchul.
| Weapon | Description |
|---|---|
Steel Gauntlet (D) |
To get the D-Tier Steel Gauntlet, start with the basic E-Tier Gauntlet and upgrade it twice to reach D-Tier. Then craft the Steel Gauntlet.
This weapon provides no special effects, but gives a boost to Jinchul’s Attack and Defense stats. |
Another Level (B) |
After crafting the D-Tier Steel Gauntlet, upgrade it to C-Tier, then use it to craft Another Level. Upgrade it again to reach B-Tier.
This further boosts Jinchul’s Attack and Defense and heals you when you trigger Combination. Staggerin an enemy with Mediation of Power or Overdrive now grants three stacks of Combination. |
Another Level (S) |
Upgrade Another Level twice more and you will reach the S-Tier. This version gives a larger boost to Jinchul’s Attack and Defense.
It also further improves the bonuses from the previous tiers. This is by far the best weapon available for Woo Jinchul in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE. |
Woo Jinchul Best Armour & Artefact Sets
Here are our recommended armor/artefact sets for early game, mid game and late game.
Early Game Best Sets
In the early game, there aren’t many strong sets, so we just take whatever items we can get that will boost Jinchul’s damage output. The Apprentice Mage set gives us a modest boost to Attack and Critical Damage, which makes for a decent DPS boost.
- Armour Set: Apprentice Mage
- [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack
- [4 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- Jewelry Set: Put any items on Jewellery, none of the early sets are good for the Woo Jinchul Build.
Mid Game Best Sets
High-Ranking Demon is a well-rounded set that boosts your attack and defense. This should help you out with the rather tricky bosses you’ll encounter around this time. Viridescent gives more damage boosts and slightly reduces your skill cooldowns.
- Armour Set: High-Ranking Demon
- [2 Items] Increases Attack and Defense
- [4 Items] Using a Basic Skill triggers a moderate chance to grant Super Armor, and will increase the user’s Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time.
- Jewelry Set: Viridescent
- [2 Items] Very slightly reduces the user’s Basic Skill cooldown, but slightly increases their MP Consumption.
- [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill very slightly increases the user’s Basic Skill Damage Increase effect for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
Late Game Best Sets
We’re using the Corrupted Knight and Beast sets because they synergise quite well. The Beast Set boosts your Critical Damage and makes it so your Critical Chance ramps up over the course of a fight. Corrupted Knight boosts your Basic Skill damage whenever you land a Critical Hit. The Corrupted Knight set only requires 3 pieces, so we also equip the Burning Blessing Robe which grants a standalone bonus to Woo Jinchul’s Critical Hit Damage.
- Armour Set: Corrupted Knight
- [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack and Critical Hit Rate
- [3 Items] When the user lands an attack as a Critical Hit, it slightly increases their Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
- Standalone Armour Piece: Burning Blessing Robe
- [1 Item] Using a Basic Skill twice increases Critical Hit Damage of team members, including user, for a long period of time.
- Jewelry: Beast
- [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- [4 Items] If a Critical Hit isn’t activated, the chance of the next attack landing as a Critical Hit increases very slightly, stacking up to 30 times.
