Welcome to the Riftstones Guide for Dragon’s Dogma 2.

In this short guide, we will explain what Riftstones are, why they are needed and how they work.

What are Riftstones for in DD2?

Riftstones are special object in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that allow the Arisen (the player) to summon Pawns to join their party and aid them.

Pawns can be found in the bridge between worlds as they journey beyond the Rift. Riftstones allow the player to access this space in order to recruit Pawns.

More specifically, the Pawns you can recruit from a Riftstone are Pawns who will fill the third and fourth slot in your party (also known as Support Pawns). The second slot is always filled by your Main Pawn, who is created by you at the start of the game. You have full control over your Main Pawn and can build and progress them however you like, but the Support Pawns summoned via a Riftstone are Pawns created by other players, so you won’t have nearly as much control over them.

Unlike your Main Pawn, Pawns summoned via the Rift Stone do not level up alongside you, so you will periodically need to visit a Riftstone to acquire higher level Pawns who are more suited to your level.

In conclusion, if you are having problems with the balance of your current party, or simply want to try something different, one of the first things you can do about it is to head to a Riftstone and swap out your Support Pawns for somebody new. Try to look out for Pawns with Skills, Specialities and tendencies that synergise with or augment the combat style of your character and your Main Pawn, or who fill a gap in the knowledge and expertise of your party.
