In todays news article we are going to take a look why you should come back and play ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) in 2022. ESO will offer a lot of new content in 2022 and has received plenty of amazing quality of life updates that make playing the game even more fun.
A new ESO Chapter awaits in 2022!
First lets talk about the new content that ESO will offer throughout 2022. The developers keep up their busy schedule, we will have a Q1 Dungeon DLC like always. Then in Q2 we will get the major Chapter release which will offer a lot of new content. Later through the year we will get a Q3 Dungeon DLC and the Q4 Story DLC for ESO (Elder Scrolls Online).
While Q1, Q3 and Q4 are smaller updates, the Q2 Chapter update will give us a lot of new content. We almost certainly know that we will get a complete new zone with a new story line and a new trial. Speculation has it that we might get a new class, a new skill-line, a new activity (like in the previous years with Antiquities and Companions). Once we know more we will make sure to also write about it.
The announcement stream for the themed year long story and the Chapter reveal will happen on the 27th January on twitch, we talked about this in the news article “ESO is setting sail to myserious lands in 2022“.
Like always, builds on Alcasthq.com will be updated and we will be adding all the new sets, skills and features to ESO-Hub.com. You can also join our ESO Community Partner Discord, or get news via our ESO Hub Twitter account, or use our Discord Bot Dwemer Automaton which is present on over 22’000 Discord servers and has a huge variety of features and alerts for ESO.
ESO received amazing Quality of Life Improvements
Over the past year or two ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) received amazing quality of life updates that we want to highlight here and they are all part of the base game, so free for players. Some of these quality of life updates make the game so much more enjoyable, it is almost unbelievable. My two favorite improvements are the introduction of a “Sticker Book” item set collection and the Armory build saver. Lets take a look at things that improved.
Sticker Book in ESO – Item Set Collection
The Sticker Book in ESO has been the most popular addition by far. It is basically an item set collection, giving you the option to collect all the sets and store them. First off, this makes your inventory lighter because you don’t have to horde all the sets like you used to. You can actually recreate them out of the ESO Sticker Book. Secondly, you can now keep track of what sets are missing easily. This makes it a lot easier to remember which sets you still need to farm in which area.
As you can see in the image below, there is a summary page for the ESO Sticker Book, which gives you an overview of all the sets. Now you probably realize how big of a task it is to get this to 100%, legends say only a few players have managed to complete this a 100% so far.
In addition to that, you can also go to a specific zone to see each of the set item pieces separately. That you can determine which ones are still missing or which ones you can already pick back up from the Sticker Book.
Recreating set items from the Sticker Book costs transmute stones. The cost of recreating an item gets lower if you have more pieces of a certain set. You can find a full list of all available sets in the ESO Sets Overview Page.
The Armory System in ESO – Build Saver
The Armory System is another great addition that ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) has recently made. The Armory is basically a build saver. So you can swap between different builds in a matter of seconds, sparing you the cost to change morphs, champion points and more!
You can also turn on and off the Vampire/Werewolf curses with this. Learn more about the Armory System in the ESO Armory System Guide.
This is of course part of a base game quality of life improvement, the guide explains how you can get it for free.
Ingame Mail from Guild Traders is now instant in ESO
The Instant Ingame Mail feature may seem like a minor thing, but you won’t believe how good it felt to receive a Guild Trader mail instantly after purchasing an item. Since ESO launched when you bought items at the Guild Traders you usually had to change the zone for the purchased item to arrive in the mail.
Now this is a thing of the past and it will instantly pop into your mail box ingame. It is quite impressive that such a small thing can be such a huge relief for your sanity in ESO.
Below you can watch a video showcasing how fast the Guild Trader mail now arrives.
Multithreaded Rendering boosts FPS in ESO
Multithreaded Rendering is a new feature in ESO that boosts performance optimization available in the video settings panel. This option enables a separate thread for the render process which can improve performance and provide a smoother overall experience if the limiting factor on a player’s device is CPU processing, rather than GPU processing.
For some players this increased their FPS three fold, which is crazy given ESO used to have so much problems with FPS. This was a huge step into the right direction for performance.
You can also visit the Increase Performance in ESO or the Unlock FPS Cap for ESO guides for more info.
Curated Item Drops – Loot Drop Adjustments
The Curated Item Set Drops feature would now preferentially drop set items which a player hadn’t unlocked yet in their Item Set Collections. That means you won’t have to farm a certain dungeon 200 times anymore. Once you have an item in your set collection, it won’t drop anymore until you have all of the items, then it goes back to random.
This made farming much easier and enjoyable for the whole community. Because there is nothing more annoying than grinding a dungeon 400 times just to get a fire staff that you really want but never drops.
Ability Bar Timers for Console Players in ESO
While PC players had access to addons, console players don’t. Therefore ZOS implemented the Ability Bar Timers for console and pc players. Basically copying the Action Duration Reminder addon that is very popular. Finally you can see the duration of the abilities on your bar. If you want to learn more about this please visit the Ability Bar Timer Guide for ESO.
Perfect & Non-Perfected Sets now mixable in ESO
Previously you never could mix perfected and non-perfected gear together. You either had to have 5 pieces of the perfected set or the non-perfected set. This quality of life improvement in ESO made it so you can mix these together. This is important because most players can easily get hold of the non-perfected version because it drops from normal mode, but it is very difficult to get the perfected version from veteran or even hardmode.
However, sometimes you might have one or two pieces already of the better version, but you could not use them, so you still had to waste upgrade materials on the inferior version. This is now a thing of the past, for example you can easily mix the non-perfected Mantle of Sirora with the Perfected Mantle of Siroria.
Fast Travel outside of your Home in ESO
Housing has been very popular in ESO. So far you could only teleport inside your home. That has changed and now you have the option to either teleport directly inside or outside of your home. This is a small but great quality of life upgrade for housing in ESO.
Furnishing & Houseguest Preview in ESO
Another great addition to housing in ESO is the preview function of furnishing plans and voice lines for Houseguests from the Crown Store. That way you can better decide whether you like an item before you actually craft/buy it.
New Monster Masks in Imperial City in ESO
The Imperial City zone also got a small update. The Patrolling Horror bosses now drop Monster Masks. The sets are called Glorgoloch The Destroyer, Immolator Charr and Zoal the Ever-Wakeful. This is a small but nice quality of life improvement, giving you another reason to go back to Imperial City!
Advanced Stats Sheet in ESO
The Advanced Stats Sheet has been a long requested feature for ESO by the endgame community. Finally you can better understand what sort of stats your character has. It is still not perfect as addons can offer better insight, but it is a good start to get the basic needs fulfilled.
Things like Bash, Block, Break Free, Dodge Roll, Sneak, Sprint, Bash Damage, Block Mitigation and so on are all important values that you want to know in combat.
There are plenty of other stats that you can track, just go to your character stats screen and press on the “Advanced Stats” button and the whole list will pop up.
Conclusion “Why you should be playing ESO in 2022”
As you can see there is a lot of content coming this year and the developers of ESO have really stepped up their game to bring us more quality of life improvements. Of course there is still a lot of things that need improvements, but we are certain that they will keep adding more quality of life improvements to ESO in the future. Lets see what the future holds!
Last but not least, here is a cool ingame screenshot that I recently took, time to up your fashion game in ESO! This is my Khajiit NB, I recently posted a screenshot of the character on Twitter and players really seemed to like fashion style.
