Seo Jiwoo Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive
Here is an overview of Seo Jiwoo’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.
Basic Skills
Water Dragon Strike
Jiwoo punches with her fist that’s full of energy.
This is Jiwoo’s light attack, activated by left clicking. You can chain it up to five times for different attack animations. For example, the fourth attack in the chain deals additional stagger and can knock enemies down.
Twin Dragon Strike
Jiwoo strikes powerfully with both fists charged with the Water Dragon’s energy.
This is Jiwoo’s heavy attack – press C to activate it. Like all heavy attacks in ARISE OVERDRIVE, it has a very short cooldown so you can use it frequently as one of your main sources of DPS. This powerful single strike deals a lot of stagger, and can knock enemies to the ground.
Water Dragon Rush
Jiwoo leaps towards the enemy with all her might and strikes down.
Press Q to activate Water Dragon Rush. It deals damage in a small AoE and can knock enemies over.
Lightning Kick
Jiwoo lifts her feet vertically and strikes down in front of her.
Press E to activate Raven’s Cry. This is another strong single-target attack that can stagger enemies.
Special Skills
Water Dragon Lightning Kick
Jiwoo envelops her entire body with the energy of a Water Dragon to attack enemies, then finishes with a powerful upward punch. Jiwoo gains a Shield temporarily when using this skill.
Storm Raven is a Support Skill, which means it is only available when Jiwoo is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as her directly. It can be used when Sung Jinwoo uses Chain Smash twice within 5 seconds, or when a nearby enemy is staggered.
Burst Punch
QTE Skill. Jiwoo gathers all her energy into her fist and releases it while charging forward. When it hits the target, she gains 1 Training stack and slightly restores the entire team’s Power Gauges.
Jiwoo automatically uses Burst Punch when you switch to her with Left Shift when prompted. Make sure you are in a good position to make the attack connect before making the switch.
Water Dragon Strike
Synchro Chain. Jiwoo unleashes a punch imbied with Water Dragon energy to attack enemies in front of her.
Water Dragon Strike is Jiwoo’s Synchro Chain skill. She uses it when you press T (when prompted) to activate your Hunter party’s Synchro Chain; all Hunters in the party will then activate their Synchro Chain at the same time.
Water Dragon Transformation Strike
Ultimate Skill. Jiwoo gathers the Water Dragon’s energy, jumps into the air, and slams down her fist with the power of the Water Dragon, devastating her surroundings.
Press R when your ultimate is charged to activate Water Dragon Transformation Strike. Deals a hefty chunk of damage the your target and any nearby enemies, and also staggers enemies.
Unique Skills
Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.
Back Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.
Deflect Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.
How to Play Seo Jiwoo
Seo Jiwoo is a melee-focused fighter who empowers her attacks with water magic. She is one of the best hunters in the game at staggering opponents – almost all of her skills have a stagger effect on impact, which makes fighting enemies easier because they get stunned almost on cooldown.
Jiwoo’s Water Dragon Rush and Lightning Kick skills can be enhanced, increasing the damage and stagger strength. To enhance these skills, use Water Dragon Strike or Twin Dragon Strike three times in a row before casting the skill you want to enhance.
Using an enhanced skill restores your Overdrive gauge. When you use Jiwoo’s overdrive, she delivers a powerful strike to the target and recharges the Power Gauge.
Furthermore, hitting an enemy with an enhanced skill or an Overdrive gives Seo Jiwoo a stack of Training. Training can stack up to three times. When you use your ultimate, its damage will be increased based on how many stacks of Training you accumulated, and all stacks will then be removed.
In summary, to get the most out of Seo Jiwoo you should continuously enhance her skills by chaining together basic and heavy attacks, and make sure you dish out at least three of these enhanced attacks before using her ultimate to get the maximum damage.
Seo Jiwoo Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive
As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.
It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.
In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
Seo Jiwoo Best Equipment – SL Arise Overdrive
We will now review the best equipment available for Seo Jiwoo in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, including the best weapons and the best armour & artefacts. To help you progress through the lengthy level up and equipment grind, we have included setups for the early, mid and endgame.
Seo Jiwoo Best Weapons
The table below shows you the best weapon progression from early, mid and endgame. We have not included every upgrade tier along the journey, just the most important milestones so you can see which path to take and what benefits the most important weapons offer for Seo Jiwoo.
| Weapon | Description |
|---|---|
Steel Gauntlet (D) |
To get the Steel Gauntlet, start with the basic E-Tier Gauntlet and upgrade it until you reach D-Tier. Then use it to craft the Steel Gauntlet.
This weapon provides no special effects, but gives a nice boost to Seo Jiwoo’s Attack and Defense stats. |
Unparalleled Bravery (B) |
After crafting the D-Tier Steel Gauntlet, upgrade it to C-Tier and then craft the C-Tier version of Unparalleled Bravery. One more upgrade brings you to B-Tier.
This increases your HP and Defense and allows Jiwoo to Provoke (taunt) enemies by hitting them with her Overdrive Skill. This weapon also grants Jiwoo a damage shield when she uses her Enhanced Basic Skill. |
Unparalleled Bravery (S) |
Upgrade Unparalleled Bravery twice more and you will reach the S-Tier. While it gives no more special effects, the stats are significantly better than the previous versions.
This is by far the best weapon available for Seo Jiwoo in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE. |
Seo Jiwoo Best Armour & Artefact Sets
Here are our recommended Seo Jiwoo armor/artefact sets for early game, mid game and late game.
Early Game Best Sets
In the early game, there aren’t many strong sets, so we just take whatever items we can get that will boost Seo Jiwoo. The combination of Apprentice Mage and Aquamarine will give a modest boost to Jiwoo’s DPS potential and slightly increase her chance to freeze enemies.
- Armour Set: Apprentice Mage
- [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack
- [4 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- Jewelry Set: Aquamarine
- [2 Items] Very slightly increases Water Damage
- [4 Items] When the user deals Water damage, there is a very small change to apply the Cold Ice effect
Mid Game Best Sets
Quickly rotating between your Basic skills is the bread and butter of Seo Jiwoo’s playstyle, so for our mid-game sets we’ve chosen High-Ranking Demon and Viridescent, both of which boost your Basic Skills as a reward for using Basic Skills.
- Armour Set: High-Ranking Demon
- [2 Items] Increases Attack and Defense
- [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill triggers a moderate chance to grant Super Armour and will increase your Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time.
- Jewelry Set: Viridescent
- [2 Items] Very slightly reduces Basic Skill cooldown, but slightly increases MP consumption.
- [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill very slightly increases your Basic Skill Damage for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
Late Game Best Sets
The Dark Knight set is a great choice for Seo Jiwoo because quick interchanging use of Heavy Attack and Basic Skills is an important part of her playstyle, so you’ll probably activate this often without even trying. The Beast set will ramp up your Critical Hit chance over the course of a fight, and the Burning Greed Gloves give you even more stagger than usual as well as an extra chunk of Attack.
- Armour Set: Dark Knight
- [2 Items] Increases Attack, Defense and Max HP
- [3 Items] Significantly increases Heavy Attack Damage. When your Heavy Attack hits, there is a very high chance to significantly increase your Basic Skill Damage for a short period of time.
- Standalone Piece: Burning Greed Gloves
- [1 Item] Increases your Stagger effect. Note: The gloves also come with a 38% Attack boost.
- Jewelry: Beast
- [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- [4 Items] If a Critical Hit isn’t activated, the chance of the next attack landing as a Critical Hit increases very slightly, stacking up to 30 times.
