Werewolves may be encountered at various times and places throughout Tamriel, but the NPC werewolves capable of passing on Sanies Lupinus (the disease that causes lycanthropy) to players are a rare spawn. These spawns occur in The Rift, Bangorkai, or Reaper’s March when the phase of the moon is full. The full moon phase in the game lasts 1.5 real days. After that, the moons wane for 2.5 days, are in their new phase for 1.5 days, and then wax again for 2.5 days. This cycle lasts about 8 real days, which means that there are usually about 3 full cycles within a real month.
Infectious NPC werewolves will spawn every night of their full moon cycle, so be on the watch for these ferocious rare beasts!
