The Arcanist is a new class in ESO. Many players are asking themselves what the best Race choice is for their Arcanist character. In this guide we are going to take a look at the top 3 race choices for the Arcanist.

1. Dark Elf
The Dark Elf race is often the most popular pick. They are best in slot for Damage Dealers and really high up for both Tank and Healer setups. The main reason why most players pick a Dark Elf these days is because the Dark Elf both gives magicka and stamina stats. You get 258 Weapon and Spell Damage and approx 2k Magicka and Stamina.
For Magicka and Stamina DPS setups the Dark Elf is the best choice. In addition to the amazing stats, the Dunmer also allows you to swap between Magicka, Stamina or Hybrid builds without losing any benefits.
2. Khajiit
The Khajiit race is another very popular pick in ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online). This one is amazing for Magicka, Stamina and Healer setups. It provides you with a huge 12% Critical Damage and Critical Healing increase. It also boosts all your recovery stats by 90, that ain’t much but it is better than nothing. And you get an additional 915 Health, Magick and Stamina.
3. Orc
The Orc race is often seen on Stamina DPS and Tank setup. However, there is a twist, you can actually use it for Magicka too, it won’t be as good as the above two but it is still great. Orc provides you with 258 Weapon and Spell Damage. It also gives you 1000 Health and 1000 Stamina. Lastly, you also get a 10% Sprint speed boost.
What is the best race for my Build Setup?
Now let us take a look at what are good ESO races for your build. This really only matters if you want to min max your setup. In theory any race is playable with any setup in easier content.
- Magicka Damage Dealer: Dark Elf, High Elf, Khajiit, Orc
- Stamina Damage Dealer: Dark Elf, Orc, Khajiit, Imperial, High Elf
- Healer: High Elf, Khajiit, Dark Elf, Breton
- Tank: Nord, Imperial, Orc, Dark Elf

This guide will hopefully help you to pick a good race for your build. Of course you can always use a race swap token to change your race or create a new character and level it up. I often power level grind a new character, that way I can have a magicka and a stamina variant of a build and don’t always need to swap races or run around with a non-optimal race. However, if this is one of your first characters, then you shouldn’t really worry about that yet.
