Elden Ring players that first visit the Roundtable Hold often also find Fia the deathbed companion, which is located in one of the room next to the blacksmith. After talking to Fia she asks you if she is allowed to hug you. Most Elden Ring players of course say yes, because you are curious what other talk options she might have.

Afterwards you will notice that you actually have a -5% health debuff on you because of Fia. And a lot of Elden Ring players are angry on twitter because they don’t know how to remove the “permanent debuff”.

The good news is, the debuff isn’t permanent and it actually isn’t hard to get rid of it either. In From Software games it is important to actually listen to what the NPCs have to say. Most players these days are programmed to just click through all the “useless” dialogue options because most games trained the to do so. However, with Elden Ring everything that a NPC has to say is very important and can progress the story forward.

While Fia takes you into her arms she gives you an item called Baldachin’s Blessing. This is the item with which you can remove the health debuff that Fia gave you. Use the item and you will see that your character gets an aura. After around 30 seconds you will notice that your health is back to normal. You can easily notice this because your health bar won’t be full anymore, but will actually show 95% out of a 100% filled.

After the effect of the Baldachin’s Blessing item wears off you will notice that your health bar moved back up, giving you the 95% out of 100%.

After resting at a Grace you will be able to go back to full health. However, you can actually hug her every time you visit the Roundtable Hold and she will give you the health debuff every time. But she will also give you the Baldachin’s Blessing every time. Therefore you don’t really need to worry about any permanent health debuff. Like mentioned above, most Elden Ring players that have this issue just didn’t pay attention. Paying attention in Elden Ring to NPCs is important!
