Does Throne and Liberty have crossplay between PC and Consoles (PS5/Xbox Series XS)? No, the developer NCSoft confirmed in an interview that crossplay won’t be available. The developers actually tried to implement crossplay functionality, but there were too many limitations or hindrances and so they stopped. The main issue was about how patching worked differently for PC and Consoles.

NCSoft also said that players from different platforms get an unfair playing field because of how Console and PC are structured. They likely mean that PC players have way more customization options compared to Console, thus giving them an edge in combat.

So the main reason why they decided to go against it is because of the user experience.

One more thing I would like to add is that Throne and Liberty will be available on mobile devices via NCSoft Purple app. We are also going to publish Throne and Liberty Builds once the game launches.

Will Throne and Liberty Patch cycles arrive at the same time for PC and Console?

This is another important point that players often forget. But often console players get the latest patches later than PC players. This is due to how the Console patching process works. On PC developers can immediately publish a new patch without having to wait for any approval. On Consoles this is different, patches often have to go through a 2 week approval process by the Console owners (Sony/Microsoft).

That is why you often see that MMOs and other games don’t get the same content at the same time. ESO for example always has a two-week delay on Console. Exactly because of the patch approval process.

Now you might think this is boggus because big games like Call of Duty don’t have that issue. This is correct, developers can actually pay to speed up the process, but it costs a lot. And because the cost is so high most developers won’t bother.
