When you are playing Diablo 4, you are likely to notice a few different colours for the combat text that appears during gameplay. You might have wondered what exactly these colours signify.

In this short guide we will explain what these combat text colours actually mean.

Diablo 4 Combat Text Colours Explained

In this guide, we are referring to the damage numbers that appear above an enemy who is hit by your attacks in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Combat Text Colours

These numbers may appear in one of four different colours, and the colour that they appear in actually tells us some extra info about the attack they were hit with. Below we will explain what these colours mean:

  • White Numbers: This is the normal colour for combat text, and indicates that your attack hit the enemy as normal.
  • Yellow Numbers: This indicates that your attack was a Critical Strike. By default, your attacks have a 5% chance to Crit, and Crits deal 50% bonus damage. But these values can be increased with skills, passives and gear.
  • Blue Numbers: These indicate that your attack was an Overpowering attack. Overpowering attacks will deal the sum of your current and Fortified Life (health) as bonus damage. There is a 3% chance per attack for this to happen. This chance cannot be increased, however there are some skills in the game that can guarantee an Overpower.
  • Orange Numbers: This is the rarest type, because orange text means that your attack was both a Critical Strike and an Overpower at the same time. This is pretty much the maximum damage you could’ve possibly dealt with your attack.

Once you have learned what the combat text colours means in Diablo 4, you should generally have a better awareness of what is going on during combat, and how well your abilities are performing.
