Welcome to the class overview page for the Blade Warden class in Blue Protocol. Note that the Blade Warden is also known as the Aegis Fighter in the Japanese version of Blue Protocol.

The Blade Warden is a playable class in Blue Protocol, armed with a sword and a shield. This class is best suited to the traditional tank archetype, able to block large amounts of damage with their shield. It’s also possible to build the Blade Warden as a DPS character, but tanking is what this class excels at.

Blade Warden Class Summary

The Blade Warden is the Blue Protocol class most well-suited to tanking, as it comes with a trusty shield that can be used to block damage. However, you cannot block indefinitely – the Blade Warden must keep an eye on their Shield Gauge. Every blocked attack will deplete the Shield Gauge, and once it has run out you will be unable to block until it has recovered. Careful management of this mechanic is important for those wishing to tank with the Blade Warden class.

Another important feature of blocking is the ability to counter-attack. After successfully blocking an enemy’s attack, the Blade Warden player can press their standard attack button to launch a powerful counter-attack against their enemy.

In addition to their blocking abilities, the Blade Warden can also taunt enemies in order to protect their allies, once again making them a perfect choice for a player who wants to tank.

Many of the Blade Warden’s skills deal Light Damage – If you are building your Blade Warden for DPS and want a more “thematic” build, you might want to build around this.

Blue Protocol Blade Warden Class

Blade Warden Basic Skills

Every class in Blue Protocol has its own set of Basic Skills. These are always active and determine how the class’ basic attacks work, along with how the class can defend itself. It also includes a couple of passives that give the class some extra identity.

Blade Flurry

A 4-stage attack with a sword slash. Attacking while pressing the left or right movement key will cause the second slash to be a spinning slash attack. If pressing the forward movement key, the third attack will be a thrust attack that deals Light Damage. If pressing the backwards movement key, the second attack will be a shield strike attack – if it hits an enemy, this attack gives you 10% reduced Shield Gauge cost for 40 seconds.

Warden Guard

Hold up your Shield to guard against attacks. Guarding consumes Shield Gauge when successful. If Shield Gauge drops to zero, you enter the Shield Break state, and cannot guard more until it has recovered. After a successful Guard, press the standard attack to perform a counterattack.

Dodge

After a successful Dodge, you gain 30 Shield Gauge Recovery.

Aerial Attack

Aerial Attacks apply Bind for 3 seconds, immobilizing the target.

Blade Warden Tactical Skills

Below is an overview of the Tactical Skills currently available for the Blade Warden. It is possible that some of them may change for the international release of Blue Protocol, as the developers continue to work on the game.

Tactical Skills are skills in the traditional MMO sense – they are activated by pressing an assigned button on your skill bar, and have a Cooldown.

Advancing Wall

Raise your shield and perform a forward charge attack. Stuns enemies who are hit. Can be used while blocking, but will consume Shield Gauge on a successful block.

Luminous Arc

Perform a slash in front of you that deals Light Damage. You can perform a double-attack by activating the skill again.

Celestial Pillar

Create an AOE at your location that continuously deals Light Damage. Once fully levelled up, Celestial Pillar can be charged up, deals more damage and lasts for longer.

Circle of Valour

Create an AOE at your location that grants players Moderate (20%) Damage Reduction while remaining in the area. Once fully levelled up, the AOE is larger, lasts for longer, grants Elemental Resistance and a 10% Attack Power buff.

This is a vital support skill due to its defensive and offensive buffs, and it is highly desirable for any organized group of players to have at least one Aegis Fighter in the group to provide this buff. It’s possible to get a 66% uptime of the buff if you activate it again as soon as the cooldown expires – or if there are two Aegis Fighters in the group, you can take it in turns to cast the skill to provide a 100% uptime.

Shield Sprint

Perform a dash attack on activation. Activate the skill again to stop. Consumes Stamina while dashing. A finishing attack is possible with an additional skill activation. You can block while charging, but this will consume Shield Gauge.

Dawn’s March

Raise your shield and perform a charge attack. Emits a shockwave of Light Damage on impact. You can block while charging, but this will consume Shield Gauge. When levelled up, making impact with the charge will also pull nearby enemies to you.

This makes this skill another important tool in the Blade Warden’s tanking arsenal – use it in mob pulls to pull the enemies to you and stack them up, making life easier for your DPS allies.

Regeneration

Heal yourself over time. When fully levelled up, the skill heals you faster and for a larger amount.

Divine Surge

Create an AOE shockwave at your location, taunting enemies who are hit (greatly increasing the chance that they attack you rather than other players). When fully levelled up, the skill also debuffs the Attack Power of affected enemies by 25%.

Divine Surge is one of the most important tank skills in Blue Protocol, providing an AOE taunt for tanks that also debuffs the damage dealt by enemies.

Rampart

Creates a giant shield that automatically blocks while deployed, allowing you to block for free but preventing you from moving. When fully leveled up, the shield will last for longer and accumulate charge when blocking damage, releasing the charge as a damage shockwave when it expires.

Provocation

Apply Taunt to the next attack hit, forcing the enemy to target you. When levelled up, Provocation also buffs your damage resistance and refills your Shield Gauge when the effect ends.

Binding Arc

Perform a slashing attack that hits enemies in front of you, temporarily immobilizing them.

This is useful for preventing enemies from moving around, and makes for an especially good combination with a skill like Dawn’s March – Use Dawn’s March first to pull mobs to you, then Binding Arc to root them in place. This will make things much easier for DPS players in your group.

Reinforcement

Temporarily halves the Shield Gauge consumption when blocking an attack. When levelled up, automatically counterattacks against enemies who hit your block, or spawns a small AOE.

Ultimate Skills for the Blade Warden Class

Ultimate Skills are much more powerful than other skills, but have a very long Cooldown. Careful strategic use of these skills can be the difference between success and failure.

Exaltation

When activated, restores a large amount of HP, grants you Super Armour, immunity to negative status effects, and grants Shield Save. When activated during a Shield Break, the Shield is fully recovered. When activated, the Ultimate gauge can be filled by attacking or guarding successfully. When it reaches maximum the gauge is consumed, granting further healing and 25% Damage Reduction to nearby allies for 30 seconds.

This is a great defensive ultimate for keeping yourself and your allies alive – keep it in mind if you are struggling in a difficult encounter.
