Welcome to the Thunder item sets guide for Baldur’s Gate 3. In this short guide, we will list the available equipment for Thunder-focused builds in BG3, and explain the unique mechanic that can be triggered with these items – Reverberation.

Thunder damage is accessible to several different classes in BG3, including the Druid, Wizard and Paladin.

Thunder Reverberation Explained

The items mentioned in this guide allow you to enhance your Thunder damage with Reverberation – a condition that applies to enemies that debuff them.

Reverberation debuffs the target’s Strength, Dexterity and Constitution Saving Throw rolls by -1 per remaining turn of the condition. If a creature has 4 or more turns of Reverberation remaining, they must succeed a Constitution Saving Throw. If they fail the throw they will take an extra 1-4 Thunder damage and fall Prone, removing the Reverberation.

The initial debuff to enemy saving throws will make many of your other spells and actions more likely to inflict their full effects on enemies, and knocking enemies Prone is also a great ability to have, especially in parties with at least one dangerous melee character, such as a Fighter Build or Barbarian Build. Prone enemies are much more vulnerable to melee attacks.

Gloves of Belligerent Skies

The Gloves of Belligerent Skies are uncommon gloves that allow the wearer to inflict the Reverberation Condition on enemies.

With the gloves equipped, your Thunder, Lightning and Radiant attacks will inflict 2 turns of Reverberation. This offers a useful way of debuffing enemies with a reasonably wide range of magical abilities. This could be useful for a Druid Build, Wizard Build, Cleric Build, Sorcerer Build or Paladin Build.

The Gloves of Belligerent Skies are found in a locked chest in the Inquisitor’s Chambers in Creche Y’llek, at the end of Act I. You must take the Mountain Pass route to Act II via Rosymorn Monastery to access this area.

Boots of Stormy Clamour

The Boots of Stormy Clamour are uncommon boots that offer another way to inflict Reverberation in BG3.

When equipped, the wearer can apply 2 turns of Reverberation by applying another condition to the target. This can trigger from a wide variety of effects – some of the most common ones are Bleeding, Burning, Poisoned, Silenced, and Blinded, but there are many more. However, it seems that the Prone condition does not work with this item.

The Boots of Stormy Clamour are sold by Omeluum in the Myconid Colony in the Underdark (Act I). You must complete the quest to help investigate the parasite before you can trade with Omeluum.

Thunderskin Cloak

The Thunderskin Cloak is an uncommon cloak that can impose additional debuffs on creatures that already have Reverberation.

A creature with Reverberation who deals damage to the wearer of this cloak has to undergo a Constitution Saving Throw. If they fail the throw, they will also become Dazed, which in turn gives them Disadvantage on Wisdom saves, prevents them from taking Reactions and removes their Dexterity bonus from their Armour Class.

While I’m not a huge fan of items that require the wearer to take damage in order to trigger their effects, there aren’t too many options for building around Thunder damage, so for that reason it’s worth getting this if you want to do that.

The Thunderskin Cloak can be purchased from Araj Oblodra in Moonrise Towers, Act II.

Ring of Spiteful Thunder

The Ring of Spiteful Thunder is an uncommon ring that offers another way to Daze enemies.

Dealing Thunder damage to an enemy that already has Reverberation will cause them to become Dazed, unless they succeed a Constitution Saving Throw. This offers a safer way of applying Dazed than the Thunderskin Cloak, and also makes for a pretty good synergy with the Gloves of Belligerent Skies, mentioned above.

The Ring of Spiteful Thunder is sold by Roah Moonglow in Moonrise Towers, Act II.
