Welcome to the Poison Equipment Guide for Baldur’s Gate 3. In this short guide we will list the available items in BG3 that trigger when you deal Poison Damage. These items are especially useful if you want to make a build that is focused on poison damage.

The best classes for Poison Damage are the Warlock, Sorcerer and Wizard, although pretty much any class can make use of Poison damage with the right equipment and setup.

It’s worth noting that Poison Damage has less items associated with it than most other damage types in BG3 – if you do want to make a poison build then your options are a little limited when compared to some other damage types, such as Cold and Radiant damage.

Table of Contents:

Poisoner’s Robe

The Poisoner’s Robe is an uncommon Clothing item that augments the wearer’s Poison spells.

When wearing this item, your Cantrips and Spells that deal Poison damage will do an extra 1d4 additional Poison damage. This is a fairly small buff but it is fairly useful in the early game to generate a bit of extra damage, as in this stage of the game enemy health pools are lower, so a 1d4 bonus has more value.

The Poisoner’s Robe is looted from the Phase Spider Matriarch boss in the Whispering Depths of Act I. The Whispering Depths can be accessed via Blighted Village – the easiest way to gain access is to descend down the well.

Poisoner’s Gloves

The Poisoner’s Gloves are rare gloves that cause your poison attacks to debuff enemies.

All of the wearer’s Poison attacks will also inflict the Poisoned Condition unless the target succeeds a Constitution Saving Throw. Poisoned enemies suffer Disadvantage on all Attack Rolls and Ability Checks. Disadvantage means that two dice are rolled for each check, and the dice with the lowest roll is the one that is used, making a low roll considerably more likely.

The Poisoner’s Gloves are located in a chest in the back of the House of Healing, in Act II.

Derivation Cloak

The Derivation Cloak is a rare cloak that allows you to heal yourself by poisoning enemies.

Whenever you successfuly inflict the Poisoned condition on an enemy, you will heal yourself for 1d4 HP. This is a fairly small heal, however it makes for a good synergy with the Poisoner’s Gloves. With both items combined, your Poison attacks have a chance of debuffing your enemies quite significantly, and each time you do so you will also heal.

The Derivation Cloak can be looted from a Heavy Chest in Balthazar’s Chambers, Moonrise Towers (Act II).
