Welcome to the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Fast Travel Guide.

In this short guide, we will be explaining all of the possible ways to fast travel in DD2, including Oxcarts, Portcrystals and Ferrystones.

Fast travelling in DD2 is harder than most other RPGs. This game does not have a consistent fast travel system that can be used freely like in Skyrim or the Witcher 3. However, there are still a couple of methods of fast travel, which can speed up your journeys and prevent you from needing to walk absolutely everywhere.

How to Fast Travel with Oxcarts in DD2

The first Fast Travel method you’re likely to encounter in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is oxcarts. Cities, towns and most villages have Oxcart stations that you can use to fast travel to at least one other destination.

Each Oxcart Station has one set definition, but some major locations like Vernworth have several Oxcart Stations that are linked to different destinations. This is a very rigid method of fast travel that is similar to taking the bus in real life – you don’t have any influence over the destination.

Oxcarts only depart at a certain time of day. If there is no cart there when you arrive, you can interact with the Oxcart Station to pass the time until an Oxcart arrives. Then speak to the NPC and pay a small fee to be allowed on the oxcart.

This fast travel method is quite restrictive, but it still helps to speed things up quite a bit, especially in the early parts of the game.

How to Fast Travel with Ferrystones and Portcrystals in DD2

Ferrystones and Portcrystals work together to form a more advanced and instantaneous method of fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Portcrystals are fixed objects that can be travelled to using a Ferrystone. They are quite rare and only found in important locations, such as Vernworth and Harve.

Ferrystones are single-use items that can be consumed to fast travel to any discovered Portcrystal. You can buy Ferrystones for 10,000 gold from various merchants, including Philbert’s Sundries in Vernworth. They will also occasionally be found in loot.

Later in the game, you will be able to obtain smaller Portcrystals that you can carry in your inventory. You can then place these in any location of your choosing to fast travel there in future with a Ferrystone. You can leave up to 10 custom Portcrystals in the world at any one time.

The first Portcrystal you’re likely to obtain is earned by completing a quest for Glyndwr, an elf who you can find in the town square in Vernworth.
