When playing Soulframe, you have probably come across the term “Smite” in some of the tooltips of your Pact’s unlockable Arts (passives).
Many players are initially unsure what a Smite attack is and how to perform one.
In this quick guide, we’ll shed some light on this so that you can properly utilise Smite attacks next time you play Soulframe.
This guide is up to date with Soulframe Preludes 11.
What Does Smite Mean in Soulframe?
In Soulframe, all of your attacks have a small chance to activate Smite. When this happens, a glowing spot will appear on your enemy – something that you might have already noticed. This means that your enemy’s soul is exposed, and you can attack it to deal extra damage.
While this glowing spot is active on an enemy, you can tap your Spirit Vision button (E on PC) to tear out your enemy’s soul. This deals devastating damage and will kill a lot of enemies in one hit, turning them to dust. Stronger enemies, particularly those with heavy armour, will lose a large chunk of their health but won’t die immediately from this attack.
With its low chance of random activation, Smite is a little similar to Critical Hits in other RPGs, but not quite the same because you have to activate the extra damage manually.
It’s important to keep an eye on the enemy you are fighting and watch out for the glowing spot associated with Smite – you only have a few seconds to activate the Smite attack.
Can I Increase Smite Chance in Soulframe?
Soulframe’s Smite chance is very low, which contributes to many new players not noticing it for a while.
It is possible to increase the Smite Chance by equipping a better weapon. Every weapon in Soulframe has a Smite value on its tooltip. If you want to build into Smite attacks, then keep an eye out for weapons with higher Smite chance.
For now, this is the only consistent method for increasing Smite Chance. However, it seems likely that more complicated gear and build customisation options will be added as Soulframe’s development continues. We will update this guide as soon as anything new concerning Smite attacks is added to the game.
