Welcome to the Wand & Tome Beginner Support Build Guide for Throne & Liberty.

In this guide, we will explain how to create a simple but powerful Wand & Tome Support Healer build that is perfect for new or casual players. Our beginner builds are easier to create and play than our endgame builds (such as the Healer Build) because they have fewer essential skills and passives, and equipment that is generally easier to obtain.

It will take you considerably less time to set up and learn to play this build than builds intended for endgame, so this is the ideal starting point if you’re quite new to the game, or if you only intend to play the game casually and don’t want to put much time or effort into hard PvE dungeons or PvP combat.

Wand & Tome Beginner Build Setup for Throne and Liberty

In this section, we will explain the important components of the build, such as stats, passives, skills and equipment for our Wand & Tome Beginner Build in Throne and Liberty.

Weapons Main vs Off-hand

  • Main-hand: Wand & Tome
  • Off-hand: Longbow

Our main hand weapon is the Wand & Tome, and our off-hand weapon is the Longbow. These weapons make a great combination for healing allies. You might think the Longbow is an odd choice but it actually has good healing capabilities.

If you’re just starting out then you can equip whichever Wand & Tome and Longbow you find, and keep replacing them with better ones that you find when levelling up. You don’t need specific weapons for this build to work, but we will include a more precise equipment section later in the guide for players who already reached maximum level and want to put a bit more time into optimising their gear.

Stats

The most important stat for this Healer build is Wisdom, which improves your Max Mana, Mana Regeneration and Cooldowns. Additionally, we also focus a lot on Dexterity and some points into Perception. Focus on Wisdom and Dexterity first before you invest in Perception. Aim to eventually have a stat attribution similar to the following:

  • 15 Strength
  • 27 Dexterity
  • 28 Wisdom
  • 19 Perception

We also put a few points into Strength to get our Max Health up a bit to not get one shot from bosses. You can adjust this if you need more extra Max Health. You don’t need to exactly match the stats shown above, it is just a guideline.

Defence Skill

Each build in Throne and Liberty can slot one defense skill. Because we are using the Wand & Tome and a Longbow we can decide between two skills:

For our Beginner Healer Build we want to select the Chaos Shield to increase our defensive capabilities. When you defend against an attack you automatically apply Touch of Despair to the target. When you defend against a Fury Attack the Curse Cooldown will be reduced by 3 seconds and additionally, you restore Stamina for all party members.

Active Skills

Below are explanations of the Active Skills for the Beginner Healer build. We are using less skills than you would expect on an end-game build to make things easier to manage. You can always add more skills later on when you feel comfortable with the basics.

Touch of Despair Wand Tome Skill TL    Curse Explosion Wand Tome Skill TL    Swift Healing Wand Tome Skill TL    Clay's Slavation Wand Tome Skill TL    Time for Punishment Wand Tome Skill TL    Nature's Blessing Longbow Skill TL    Deadly Marker Longbow Skill TL

Wand & Tome Skills

  • Touch of Despair – Applies Weaken: Curse, dealing damage over time.
  • Curse Explosion – Deals damage. Enemies within 5 metres of the target who are Cursed take bonus damage.
  • Swift Healing – Heal the target.
  • Clay’s Salvation – Restore the health of all allies within range.
  • Time for Punishment – Apply a Curse that makes the target more vulnerable to damage for 9 seconds.

Longbow Skills

  • Nature’s Blessing – Creates a 16 metre radius that improves the Health Regen of party members within.
  • Deadly Marker – Mark a target, increasing your Hit and Critical Hit chance against the target for 9 seconds. You and your party members reduce your remaining Skill Cooldowns by 1% and the remaining Glory Aura Cooldown by 6% when hitting the marked target. Cooldown Reduction effect is halved against Monsters.

These skills can be categorised in three distinct ways, for the purposes of this build.

The first are your damage skills, which are Touch of Despair and Curse Explosion. This build is primarily intended for support and healing, so it doesn’t deal as much damage as DPS builds. However, you can use these skills when playing solo or to help push a bit of extra DPS in a group boss.

Secondly, you have healing skills, which are Swift Healing, Clay’s Salvation and Nature’s Blessing. These heal and buff your allies.

Finally, we have debuff skills – Time for Punishment and Deadly Marker. These cause enemies to take extra damage from attacks, which is extremely helpful in group play. If playing solo you can replace one or both of these with a more damage-focused skill.

Passive Skills

Below are explanations of the passives for our Throne and Liberty Beginner Healer Build. It isn’t important in what order you slot the passives.

Devotion and Emptiness passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Wraith's Beckon passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Vampiric Contract passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Noble Revival passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Saint's Oath passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Flawless Spirit Selfless soul passive Wand Tome Skill TL    Devoted Shield passive Longbow Skill TL    Distorted Sanctuary passive Longbow Skill TL

Wand & Tome Passives

  • Devotion and Emptiness – During the day, your Skills heal for a bit more. At Night, your Skills’ Damage over Time is increased by a bit instead.
  • Wraith’s Beckon – Increases the duration of Curses you inflict by a few seconds.
  • Vampiric Contract – Every attack that hits a target Cursed by you restores a small percentage of the attack’s damage as Health to a nearby friendly target. If there are no friendly targets in range, you are healed instead.
  • Noble Revival – Your Skill Healing is increased by a small amount for every 1,000 Max Mana.
  • Saint’s Oath – Skill Heal, incoming Skill Heal, Amitoi Heal, and Recovery Crystal Heal have a small chance to increase by 10% for 3 seconds when you take Skill Damage. Stacks up to 10 times.
  • Selfless Soul – Increases Mana Regen by a bit when you cast a buff on a friendly target. Stacks up to 10 times.

Longbow Passives

  • Devoted Shield – When Weakened, you have a small chance to create a Shield of 3,000 health that lasts for a few seconds.
  • Distorted Sanctuary – Increase Melee, Ranged, and Magic Endurance by a bit, and increase Melee, Ranged, and Magic Defense by a bit per one party member including yourself within a medium radius.

Skills and Passives Upgrade Priority

Upgrading Skills and Passives in the right order will make combat a lot easier in Throne and Liberty. However, it also takes quite a long because you need so-called “Growth Stones” to upgrade and the higher quality ones are difficult to get. Therefore it is important to plan ahead which skills you want to upgrade first.

Note: You unlock higher level skills already in a higher quality such as Rare or Epic. So you won’t have to upgrade all of the Skills.

Equipment for the Wand & Tome Beginner Healer Build

When you are leveling up this build don’t worry too much about gear. The gear itself only becomes important after level 50. Therefore make sure to simply equip whatever you find and focus on leveling up your skills. Make sure to read our Throne and Liberty Equipment Guide to understand the basics of how gear works. Additionally, we also recommend reading the Throne and Liberty Gear Enchanting Guide to get an understanding of how you can improve your gear and why it is important.

Please note that since this is a beginner build, the gear mentioned below is just a guide – you can get by just fine if you decide to use a different gear setup than what is mentioned here. You can click on the items in the tables below to find out more about them.

How To Obtain the Gear

The easiest way to get the beginner gear is to do as many daily quests as possible. That way you can farm “Contract Coins”. You can pick up daily quests in Kastleton at the Contract Manager Noss at the townsquare. The Daily quests often reward you with things like:

  • Quality Lithograph: Weapons
  • Quality Lithograph: Accessories
  • Quality Lithograph: Armor

With these Lithographs you can then craft your starter gear! Sometimes the Contract Manager might not have the Lithographs, you can try to refresh the page and new ones will pop up.

Contract Coin Merchant: Next to Noss you can also find the Contract Coin Merchant Kail who will sell you these Lithographs directly (scroll down to the bottom of his list) for 100 Contract Coin each. However, we recommend just doing the dailies to get the Quality Lithographs because the coins are better spent on other items.

Now you can simply move up the stairs and you will find the Weapon Crafter Ragere, Armor Crafter Rachel and Accessories Crafter Marianne. With the green Quality Lithographs you can craft any of the green items they offer. Of course, you will need some crafting materials, but you often get those by simply doing the dailies. Otherwise simply click on the crafting materials icon and click on “how to acquire” and it will show you where to find them.

How to Play the Healer Beginner Build in TL

Now that we have explained how to create the Throne and Liberty Beginner Wand Healer Build, we will cover the best ways to play the build to get the best out of it.

Defence and Healing

The Healer Build is quite squishy, which is why we put a few points into the Strength stat to gain some extra health. If you think you will need even more health you can keep adding extra points there and take some away from the other stats.

Your two main healing skills are Swift Healing and Clay’s Salvation. The first is a single target skill and the second one is an AoE heal. Additionally, you also have Nature’s Blessing which increases Health regen considerably and, if upgraded, adds Mana Regen to the mix. Blessed Barrier increases the defence of allies by a lot.

An important passive that is worth mentioning is the Devotion and Emptiness passive, it increases healing by a lot but only during the day, make sure to keep track of that!

Make sure to activate our defensive skill, Chaotic Shield. Players often forget that they have this available too. When you activate this defence skill, you automatically apply the active skill Touch of Despair.

Touch of Despair and Curse Explosion work well together. If you place Curse Explosion on a target that already has Touch of Despair, allies gain a Health Shield, this is an important combo that you need to learn.

Beginner Healer Build Rotation

The Beginner Healer Build doesn’t have a rotation because the skills you need to use mainly depend on what is happening around you and what other players are doing. Keep up the buffs on your allies, debuff enemies and heal people when needed. Most importantly, keep track of your cooldowns!

Beginner Healer Build Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t focus too much on gear early on. Gear farming only becomes important after you hit max level.
  • Get equipment that gives you extra Max Health, Max Mana and Mana Regen.
  • Always keep track of your cooldowns, especially on the high cooldown Skills.
