One of the most common issues that beginners encounter in Soulframe is uncertainty about how to equip a second weapon.
Players often expect that they can slot any weapon they own as a secondary weapon, but this is not how things work in Soulframe. Only a few weapons can be slotted as a secondary weapon, all of which fit into the “Sidearms” category.
In this quick guide, we’ll explain what Sidearms are in Soulframe, how to obtain them and how to equip them.
This guide is up to date with Soulframe Preludes 11.
What Are Sidearms in Soulframe?
Sidearms are a special type of weapon in Soulframe. They are the only type of weapon that can be equipped to the Sidearm slot.
Sidearms are typically small blades, resembling a dagger, that can be used in melee or thrown. They play similarly to other short-blade weapons, featuring fast single-target attacks but low reach and stagger.
Here are some examples of Sidearms available in Soulframe:
| Weapon | Rarity | Attuned to | Art |
|---|---|---|---|
Nettle |
Common | Grace | Short Blade |
Virdigris |
Uncommon | Spirit | Short Blade |
Grinn |
Uncommon | Courage | Short Blade |
Skílter |
Uncommon | Grace | Flyblade |
When choosing your Sidearm, I recommend selecting the option that matches your build. For example, if you are built into Spirit, use a Sidearm that scales with the Spirit attribute.
How to Obtain Sidearms in Soulframe
Like most other equippable items in Soulframe, Sidearms must be crafted by Tuvalkane. You must first level up Tuvalkane to the required rank and gather the necessary fragments and crafting materials.

It can take a while before you find the fragments for Sidearms – I wasn’t able to craft one until I’d been playing the game for a few days. It’s possible that I just got unlucky, but don’t be too concerned if you aren’t finding any Sidearm fragments right away.
As usual, return to Tuvalkane after the crafting timer expires to claim your new Sidearm.
How to Equip a Second Weapon in Soulframe
When you first get started with Soulframe, only one weapon slot is visible in your character screen. This leads many new players to believe that you can only ever equip one weapon.
However, once you have a Sidearm in your inventory, the Sidearm gear slot will appear in your character screen, directly above your regular weapon slot.
Unfortunately, it isn’t currently possible to equip two primary weapons in Soulframe, for example, a sword and a longbow. You can only have one primary weapon and one sidearm, and the sidearm must be a weapon in the sidearm category.
If you don’t see the Sidearm slot in your character screen, then the usual explanation is that you haven’t obtained any valid Sidearm weapons yet.
I hope this guide helps to clear up any confusion about how Sidearms currently work in Soulframe.
