What is Skill Styling in ESO?

Skill Styles are collectibles that change the color and visual effects of specific skills. They are purely cosmetic and do not affect damage, healing or skill mechanics in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Skill Styling was originally exclusive to Gold Road owners but is now a base game feature available to all ESO players. You do not need to own Gold Road to use the system, though many Gold Road styles require access to West Weald content to unlock.

Within Gold Road, there are currently 22 Skill Styles that you can obtain from various sources, such as completing certain quests or finishing achievements. At the launch of Skill Styling, all Styles will be obtainable just by playing the game – there are none sold separately in the Crown Store or Crown Crates.

How to Use Skill Styles in ESO

Applying a skill style in ESO takes a few steps:

  1. Open your Collections menu
  2. Navigate to Appearance > Skill Styles
  3. Select an unlocked style and click “Show in Skills”
  4. In your Skills menu, locate the paintbrush icon next to the applicable skill

ESO Skill Style Fragment Chases explained

New base game updates add Skill Styles that, will have you chase down fragments and consume them to unlock the necessary achievement and the skill style itself. Skill Style Fragments are always looted instead of picked up from the world. ESO Skill Styles have a 100% Drop Chance therefore you do not need to farm for them for hours. Skill Style Fragments in ESO may also sometimes appear on the Infinite Archive Merchants rotating wares.

Skill Style Fragments are Bind on Pickup meaning you can not sell or trade them to other players.
