Welcome to the Crimson Desert Gear Leveling Guide. Leveling up equipment in Crimson Desert is important but often overlooked early on. Refining equipment will make the combat encounters a lot easier. The first few levels of an item only need base materials that are easy to get in the early game.
- Head to Hernand Town.
- Visit the Blacksmith Turnali.
- Select the option “Smithy”.
- Click Refinement.
- Select the item to improve.

Enter Hernand Town and go to the location where Rhett is located. Head inside the building and that is where you will find Turnali in Crimson Desert, the Smithy. One of your tutorial quests actually leads you to him so you should have found him already.
There are so many things going on, this is often quickly forgotten and never visited again.
How To Refine Items In Crimson Desert
Leveling up equipment is called “Refinement” at the Smithy in Hernand. Select whatever item you want to level up.
- The first few levels of an item only need base materials that are easy to get around Hernand.
- After level 4, you will need slightly more advanced materials.
