Welcome to our quick guide to Void Intercept Battles for The First Descendant (TFD).
In this guide, we will explain what Void Intercept Battles are, how you can do them and tips for completing them.

What Are Void Intercept Battles?
Void Intercept Battles are special missions where the goal is to eliminate a powerful Colossus boss. The boss that you will find in the Void Intercept Battle is not randomised. Each mission will always have the same boss.
You can access a list of Void Intercept Battles from the mission select map (press G on PC) – they are split into normal and hard battles. To begin with, these battles are locked. Previewing them will explain what you need to do to unlock them.
These battles are useful for players who have learned the basics of the game and levelled up their character, and now want to start obtaining rare items for either unlocking another Descendant or for getting endgame gear for their current Descendant.
Void Intercept Battles can drop rare and ultimate quality Reactors and Modules, and defeating each colossus allows you to open one of their associated Amorphous Materials to unlock a reward within.
These battles are some of the most difficult in the game to complete, but they also yield the best rewards currently.
The battles have a time limit and a death limit! Each time any party member dies, this will increase the death counter, and if three deaths are registered, the mission will fail! This will also happen if the timer runs out. Therefore, we strongly recommend ensuring you are ready before venturing into Void Intercept Battles, especially those in the hard category. Preparation is key.
Tips for Completing Void Intercept Battles
As mentioned above, the Void Intercept Battles are among the hardest missions in the First Descendant. While you may want to dabble in the normal difficulty Void Intercepts quite early on, we recommend levelling up your character and getting a decent weapon, modules, Reactor and Components before trying the hard difficulty bosses.
The good news is that it’s possible to fine-tune your character to be better at fighting each specific Colossus, provided you have the correct Modules available. For example, GraveWalker deals Fire damage with its attacks, but is weak to Chill damage. Therefore, you can adjust your Descendant Modules to make your character more resistant to Fire Damage and your Weapon Modules to add Chill ATK to your firearm. This will make you more resilient against the boss and help you to deal more DPS to it.
Since everyone fails the mission once there are three deaths in the party, we strongly recommend at least getting the proper defensive Modules and upgrading them a few times. These missions should not be taken lightly; going unprepared will frustrate both you and other party members.
Once you are prepared, there are some other general tips about defeating the boss that we can share.
- Weakpoints – Each Colossus has weakpoints; hitting them deals considerably more damage. You can press TAB to highlight the weakpoints in blue.
- Focus your attacks on the blue weakpoints, and they will turn yellow.
- You can then use your Grappling Hook to pull the piece off the boss or keep shooting the weakpoint to destroy it. This will temporarily stun the boss.
- Rescue Allies – If a party member’s HP is reduced to zero, you have a window of time to rescue them before they die and increase your death count. The remaining time is shown by a bar under their nickname. Approach them and hold the prompted button to revive them.
- While it’s important to rescue players in good time, don’t be too reckless – there’s no point in going for an unsafe revive and just getting yourself downed as well.
- Manage your Inventory – This isn’t strictly related to fighting the boss, but it is still important. Ensure you have plenty of space in your inventory before starting a Void Intercept. A successful run will result in a large amount of loot, and it would really suck if you had to leave some behind.
Each Colossus will have its own mechanics and require a unique strategy to defeat it. Be cautious until you know how the fight works.
