Welcome to our Min Byung-Gu Build Guide for Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.

In this guide, we will explain how each one of Min Byung-Gu’s skills work and how best to use them. We will provide more general tips for how to get the most out of Min Byung-Gu.

We will also include a build guide for Min Byung-Gu. While Hunter builds aren’t as widely customisable as Sung Jinwoo, you can still customise your equipment and level up your skills. We’ll walk you through these so you can find the best items and prioritise the best skill upgrades first.

Please note that this guide is currently a work in progress. It will be updated over the course of Arise Overdrive’s early access period and following on from the full launch of the game.

Min Byung-Gu Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive

Here is an overview of Min Byung-Gu’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.

Basic Skills

Judgment of Light

Byung-Gu attacks the enemy by swinging his made powerfully.

This is Byung-Gu’s basic attack, activated with a left click. It can be chained up to three times – the first two attacks are quick slashes and the final one is an overhead slam that deals minor AoE damage.

Holy Mace

Heavy Attack. Byung-Gu attacks the enemy by powerfully striking down with his mace.

Activate by pressing C. This is an overhead slam similar to the third stage of Judgement of Light, but deals a bit more damage.

Light’s Glimmer

Byung-Gu unlocks the power of light to attack enemies and continuously restores the entire team’s HP proportional to Min Byung-Gu’s Max HP.

Press Q to activate Light’s Glimmer. It will attack nearby enemies in an AoE and heal your entire team. If you’re struggling with a particular level, including Byung-Gu in your Hunter Party may be worth it just for this skill.

Conviction of Light

The summoned divination circle of light moves forward slowly and attacks the enemy. Inflicts the Damage Taken Increase effect on targets for a certain amount of time.

Press E to activate Conviction of Light. One thing not mentioned by the skill’s description is that the AoE grabs any enemy it comes into contact with and pulls them slowly away from you. This is great for getting more space to cast another skill, for example Light’s Glimmer.

Special Skills

Judgment of Righteousness

Byung-Gu attacks the enemy by creating a divination circle with his mace. The HP and Power Gauge of allies within the divination circle are restores.

This is a support skill, meaning it can only be used when Byung-Gu is supporting Sung Jinwoo. It can be activated when Sung Jinwoo is at low HP or when he is immobilized.

Divine Punishment

QTE Skill. Byung-Gu attacks the enemy with multiple flashes and divination circles, restoring the HP and MP of all party members and increasing Attack for a certain amount of time.

Divine Punishment is automatically activated when you switch to Byung-Gu when prompted with Left Shift. Make sure you are in a suitable position to hit an enemy with the skill.

Heavenly Wave

Synchro Chain. Byung-Gu creates a large divination circle to attack enemies.

When prompted, press T to activate your Hunter party’s Synchro Chain. All three Hunters in the party will use their Synchro Chain skill simultaneously, typically resulting in a large burst of extra damage.

Heavenly Blessing

Ultimate Skill. Byung-Gu attacks the enemy by creating a large divination circle of light, and he grants a blessing to all party members.

Heavenly Blessing increases Attack proportional to Min Byung-Gu’s attack and increases damage dealt to Staggered targets.

Press R to use your Ultimate when it is fully charged. Byung-Gu’s ultimate is completely support focused, boosting the damage of your party members.

Unique Skills

Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.

Back Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.

Deflect Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.

How to Play Min Byung-Gu

Min Byung-Gu is extremely support oriented, and the damage dealt by his attacks is very low. He is typically included in a party for his healing, crowd control and buffs to your party’s damage as a whole, rather than for his own damage output.

Byung-Gu’s Overcharge Gauge passively boosts the Critical Hit Rate of your party members when it is filled. Using your Overcharge will remove this buff but instead grants all party members a HP shield for a few seconds, protecting them from damage. This makes for an excellent combo with Light’s Glimmer, shielding your HP bar while you get a big chunk of healing.

You can recover his Overcharge quite quickly by using Holy Mace or the third stage of Judgment of Light.

Beware that many of Byung-Gu’s skills, such as Light’s Glimmer, Conviction of Light and also his Overcharge take a second or two to cast, and if you get stunned or manually move away before the skills have finished casting then they will do nothing but still go on cooldown. Make sure you have enough time and space to use them!

Finally, Byung-Gu’s skills can be enhanced by performing a back dash. This will also reduce his threat level, making enemies less likely to target him. The effect ends when Byung-Gu gets hit.

Min Byung-Gu Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive

As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.

It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.

In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
