Alicia Blanche Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive
Here is an overview of Alicia Blanche’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.
Basic Skills
Touch of Winter
Alicia attacks the enemy with summoned ice crystals.
You can chain Touch of Winter up to four times – each attack in the chain takes a different form. The first two are single-target projectiles. The third fires five crystals in an arc, and the fourth is an AoE crystal that lands on the ground. This is a versatile basic attack that’s great for single-target and AoE situations.
Frost Arrow
Heavy Attack. Alicia attacks the enemy by piercing them with multiple ice fragments.
Summons an ice AoE under the target. This does good AoE damage and it’s decent against single targets, too.
Winter Storm
Alicia teleports in the input direction, decreasing her damage taken, but when she’s hit once it applies an effect that removes the Ice Body Armor effect and summons an icy whirlwind to attack enemies.
Press Q to activate Winter Storm. You will teleport in the input direction, gaining armour that protects you against one hit and spawning an icy whirlwind to do AoE damage. This is a great mobility skill and it works great when there are lots of enemies around. Just be careful not to jump into a dangerous spot.
Ice Needle
Alicia creates multiple ice pillars, granting Ice Body Armor to allies in the area and dealing damage to enemies.
Press E to activate Ice Needle. This is another good AoE skill that impacts enemies over a very large area. You also grant Ice Body Armor to nearby allies.
Special Skills
Ice Detonation
Alicia attacks the enemy by creating a large icy terrain area that detonates. Has a high chance of inflicting Cold Ice when attacking enemies.
As a Support Skill, Ice Detonation can only be used when Alicia Blanche is supporting Sung Jinwoo. It is triggered when Sung Jinwoo uses Smash 2 times or when nearby enemies have the Stagger Gauge.
Eternal Frost
QTE Skill. Alicia creates an explosive ice field to damage enemies, granting 3 instances of the Frost effect and significantly increasing the entire team’s Elemental Reaction damage for a long period of time.
Eternal Frost is automatically activated when you switch to Alicia Blanche using Left Shift (when prompted). Make sure you are in a suitable position to hit enemies with the skill before you make the switch.
Ice Storm
Synchro Chain. Alicia creates midair ice fragments and launches them toward the enemy.
Ice Storm is Alicia’s Synchro Chain skill, so it will be activated when you press T when prompted. All Hunters in the group will use their Synchro Chain skill at the same time, typically dealing a large burst of damage when used properly.
Absolute Zero
Ultimate Skill. Soaked by the rain and flooded with the sorrow of loss, her memories take flight and a freezing chill spreads that inflicts guaranteed Cold Ice on enemies.
Press R to activate your ultimate when it is fully charged. Absolute Zero is guaranteed to freeze nearby enemies, giving you a respite and a window to create more havoc with your AoE skills.
Unique Skills
Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.
Back Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.
Deflect Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.
How to Play Alicia Blanche
Thanks to her immense AoE power and ability to repeatedly freeze several enemies at once, Alicia is arguably the most powerful spellcaster in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive.
As with all ranged characters in Arise Overdrive, you must get to grips with kiting and aiming to properly utilize Alicia’s skills. You have to kite a lot because Alicia doesn’t have any melee staying power, but you must remember that any spell you cast goes in the direction that Alicia is facing, so if you try to cast a spell while running backwards, the spell will go backwards regardless of where your camera is pointing. To solve this, quickly tap W to face the enemy before casting your spell, after which you can continue kiting if needed.
Alicia’s Overdrive ability is integral to her playstyle. When used, she will dash forward and freeze herself, becoming invulnerable. A blizzard rages around her, dealing damage over time to nearby enemies and freezing them with the last tick. It is then often a good opportunity to follow up with more AoE spells. The only downside of this Overdrive is that you can sometimes get hit by a ranged enemy attack as soon as your invulnerability ends (there is a window of around 1 second between the end of your invulnerability and regaining full movement).
Alicia’s Frost Arrow can be enhanced by using the third stage of Touch of Winter or any of her other Basic Skills. The enhanced version summons a random number of ice spears from the sky, dealing extra damage.
To regain Alicia’s overcharge, keep using Frost Arrow against enemies. The skill also has a small chance to freeze an enemy solid.
Alicia Blanche Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive
As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.
It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.
In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
Alicia Blanche Best Equipment – SL Arise Overdrive
We will now review the best equipment available for Alicia Blanche in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, including the best weapons and the best armour & artefacts. To help you progress through the lengthy level up and equipment grind, we have included setups for the early, mid and endgame.
Alicia Blanche Best Weapons
The table below shows you the best weapon progression from early, mid and endgame. We have not included every upgrade tier along the journey, just the most important milestones so you can see which path to take and what benefits the most important weapons offer for Alicia Blanche.
| Weapon | Description |
|---|---|
Staff (D) |
To get the D-Tier Staff, start with the basic E-Tier Staff and upgrade it twice to reach D-Tier.
This weapon provides no special effects, but gives a small boost to Blanche’s Attack and HP stats. |
Steel Staff (B) |
After crafting the D-Tier Staff, use it to craft the Steel Staff. Upgrade this twice to bring it up to B-Tier.
The Steel Staff gives a larger bonus to HP and Attack, but is otherwise unremarkable. We’re only using this weapon because it’s required to craft Alicia Blanche’s unique weapon. |
Ice Witch (S) |
You can use the B-Tier Steel Staff to craft Ice Witch at B-Tier. Three more upgrades will finally bring it up to S-Tier.
This weapon gives a massive boost to Blanche’s Attack stat. Her Overdrive will inflict Freeze on nearby enemies. When Ice Body Armour is active, Blanche takes much less damage and inflicts Freeze on enemies she attacks. This is by far the best weapon available for Alicia Blanche in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE. |
Alicia Blanche Best Armour & Artefact Sets
Early Game Best Sets
In the early game, there aren’t many strong sets, so we just take whatever items we can get that will boost damage output. The Apprentice Mage set gives us a modest boost to Attack and Critical Damage, which makes for a decent DPS boost. The Aquamarine set gives a small boost to Blanche’s ice magic.
- Armor Set: Apprentice Mage
- [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack
- [4 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- Jewelry Set: Aquamarine
- [2 Items] Very slightly increases Water Damage
- [4 Items] When you deal Water damage, there is a very small chance to apply the Cold Ice effect.
Mid Game Best Sets
High-Ranking Demon is a well-rounded set that boosts your attack and defense. This should help you out with the rather tricky bosses you’ll encounter around this time. Viridescent gives more damage boosts and slightly reduces your skill cooldowns.
- Armour Set: High-Ranking Demon
- [2 Items] Increases Attack and Defense
- [4 Items] Using a Basic Skill triggers a moderate chance to grant Super Armor, and will increase the user’s Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time.
- Jewelry Set: Viridescent
- [2 Items] Very slightly reduces the user’s Basic Skill cooldown, but slightly increases their MP Consumption.
- [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill very slightly increases the user’s Basic Skill Damage Increase effect for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
Late Game Best Sets
We’re using the Dark Knight set because it boosts all of your Basic and Heavy Attacks, and only takes up three item slots rather than four. Thanks to the free slot, we can also equip the Burning Curse Gloves to boost your damage output, at the cost of more damage taken. The Beast set helps your overall DPS by ramping up your Critical Hit chance over the course of the battle.
- Armour Set: Dark Knight
- [2 Items] Increases Attack, Defense and Max HP
- [3 Items] Significantly increases Heavy Attack Damage. When your Heavy Attack hits, there is a very high chance to significantly increase your Basic Skill Damage for a short period of time.
- Standalone Piece: Burning Curse Gloves
- [1 Item] Increases your Damage Taken, but also increases your Damage Dealt.
- Jewelry Set: Beast
- [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
- [4 Items] If a Critical Hit isn’t activated, the chance of the next attack landing as a Critical Hit increases very slightly, stacking up to 30 times.
