Welcome to our Oath of Liberation Paladin Build for Solasta 2.

The Oath of Liberation is a Paladin subclass in Solasta 2. This guide will explain how to create a powerful Liberation Paladin build, including the best weapons, armour, spells, ability distribution, skills, and more.

The Liberation Paladin hinders the movement and attacks of enemies while supporting your allies. All the while it retains excellent damage output, forming a powerful anchor for your party during combat.

Paladin Class Overview – Solasta 2

Paladins are melee fighters who can wear any type of armour and use most weapons in Solasta II. They have access to some magical spells, but not as much as full spellcasters like Clerics, Wizards and Druids. They can also spend their Spell Slots to activate powerful Smite Spells, infusing extra damage into their melee attacks.

Please note that Solasta 2 is an early access game, so most of the information in this guide is a work in progress. Last updated March 2026

Here is what your Paladin will start the game with at Level 1:

  • Weapon Proficiencies – Simple Weapons, Martial Weapons
  • Armour Proficiencies – Light Armour, Medium Armour, Heavy Armour, Shields
  • Saving Throw Proficiencies – Wisdom & Charisma
  • Skill Proficiencies – Choose 2 from Athletics, Insight, Intimidation, Medicine, Persuasion, Religion
  • Divine Sense – Reveals celestials, fiends and undead
  • Healing Pool – A pool of healing power. You get 5 points per Paladin Level.
  • Lay on Hands – Spend points from your healing pool to restore HP.
  • Neutralize Poison – Spend 5 points from your healing pool to neutralize one poison.

Why Choose the Oath of Liberation Paladin?

The Liberation Paladin is great at supporting their party in battle. They can blind enemies, making them significantly weaker.

It also works quite well for buffing stealthy parties, because you can turn your allies invisible.

Liberation Paladin Build Starting Point – Solasta 2

This section will explain which options you should choose in character creation, including the best ancestry/race, ability distribution and skills.

Best Ancestry

The best Ancestry for the Oath of Liberation Paladin is currently the Human:

  • Resourceful (Heroic Inspiration) – Once per Long Rest, you can reroll a failed roll.
  • Versatile – Choose an Origin Feat:
    • Savage Attacker – This is a very powerful Feat for melee-focused characters, and the Human can get it right from the start of the game. It rerolls all your damage dice, then chooses the highest result, significantly increasing your average damage output.

However, the differences between the races in Solasta 2 are currently quite small, so feel free to choose the option you like the most.

Best Background

The best Background for the Liberation Paladin Build is Solasta 2 aristocrat background Aristocrat. It gives you the following bonuses:

  • Allows you to further improve Strength, Constitution and Charisma scores.
  • Proficiency with the Insight and Persuasion Skills.
  • You get the Skilled Origin Feat, which grants you additional Skill Proficiency choices.

Ability Distribution

Solasta 2 oath of liberation paladin character creation

The best Ability Distribution for your Oath of Liberation Build is:

Strength – 16

Strength is used to determine the accuracy and damage of your Paladin’s melee attacks, making it a vital ability score.

Dexterity – 10

We’ll be wearing Heavy Armour, so we don’t need to put many points in Dexterity. 10 is enough to avoid any penalties on Dexterity Saving Throws.

Constitution – 14

14 points in Constitution ensures you have enough HP to get by in Solasta 2.

Intelligence – 8

We don’t need any Intelligence points for this build.

Wisdom – 10

Wisdom is not important for this build. Allocating 10 points avoids Saving Throw penalties.

Charisma – 16

Charisma is used to determine the spellcasting effectiveness of the Paladin.

Solasta 2 warning icon Important: The Even Number Rule:

  • Every second point in an ability score over 10 adds +1 to that ability modifier, which is what actually improves your dice rolls.
  • This means that increasing a score from 10 to 11 makes no difference, but increasing it to 12 will add a +1 buff to any rolls made with that ability.
  • Therefore, we will usually avoid leaving any abilities on an odd number.

Best Skills

Assign the following Skill Proficiencies:

Source: Paladin Class

  • Athletics – Helps with physically demanding tasks such as climbing, jumping and swimming.
  • Intimidation – Roll with Charisma to scare characters into doing what you want.

Source: Human Ancestry

  • Deception – Roll with Charisma to trick NPCs into doing what you want.

Source: Skilled Feat

  • Performance – Roll with Charisma to impress NPCs, making them like you more.
  • Perception – You are better at detecting ambushes and other hidden dangers.
  • Survival– Increases your chance to forage for food when travelling.

Weapon Masteries

  • Greataxe – This will be our preferred weapon type. Mastery of the Greataxe will allow you to perform an additional weapon attack against an enemy close to the primary target.
  • Longbow – Hitting an enemy with your Longbow will slow their movement.

As you can see, between these skill picks and the two already granted from your Background, this build gives you a wide range of Skill Proficiencies – that’s the primary reason why Human is such a good ancestry choice in the current version of Solasta 2.

Spells

At the start of the game, Paladins can choose two spells to learn. We recommend these choices:

Solasta 2 Searing Smite Icon Searing Smite

  • Adds 1d6 Solasta 2 fire damage icon Fire Damage to your successful melee attack.
  • Once per round, the target must make a Constitution Saving Throw or take an additional 1d6 Solasta 2 fire damage icon Fire Damage.

Solasta 2 divine favour icon Divine Favour

  • Adds 1d4 Solasta 2 radiant damage icon Radiant Damage to your weapon attacks for the next 10 turns.
  • Costs a Solasta 2 bonus action icon Bonus Action, so you can make a full attack on the same turn.

Liberation Paladin Build Best Equipment

In this section, we will list the best equipment for the Liberation Paladin in Solasta II, including how to obtain each item.

In the current early-access version, crafting hasn’t been implemented yet, and the amount of equipment you can loot is quite limited.

I recommend working towards obtaining a hard-hitting melee weapon early in the game, such as a solasta 2 greataxe Greataxe. You can buy them from weapon merchants in town, or wait to loot one from an enemy. This is the best way to increase your average damage output in the current early access version of Solasta 2.

Furthermore, ensure you have a good ranged weapon like a solasta 2 longbow icon Longbow and a decent set of heavy armour.

Look out for other drops to further improve your weapon attack damage. For example, the solasta 2 poisonous amulet Poisonous Amulet adds 1d4 Solasta 2 poison damage icon Poison Damage to your first attack each turn.

Liberation Paladin Tips & Tricks

The Paladin plays quite similarly to the Fighter class and works well as a melee heavy hitter. But when needed, you can use your Smite spells to add extra damage to your attacks.

Paladins also have a variety of supportive and healing spells and actions.

Because this build doesn’t have much investment into Dexterity, it’s imperative to wear a strong set of Heavy Armour to maintain a good Armour Class. I recommend swapping to a heavy-hitting melee weapon like a Greataxe as soon as you can. This will give you substantially higher melee damage potential.
