Welcome to the Magicka Templar Build for ESO (Elder Scrolls Online). This build is optimized for group content such as dungeons, trials & arenas and has a very glass-cannon approach. The Magicka Templar DPS build is optimized for maximum damage. The build works best in a group but with some minor adjustments can also be played as a solo setup if necessary.
Magicka Templars have strong abilities such as Puncturing Sweeps, Blazing Spear, Puryfing Light and Radiant Oppression. Templars also have useful passives such as Piercing Spear, Burning Light, Illuminate and of course plenty more.
The Magicka Templar Build has 3 different gear setups. Tier 1 with the best gear, Tier 2 with advanced gear and Tier 3 for beginners. If you are a new player I do recommend reading the Magicka Templar Beginners Guide. If you are looking for a solo build then I recommend checking out the Solo Magicka Templar Build.

Magicka Templar Build Setup
In this section, we are going to take a look at how you can create the Magicka Templar Build for ESO.
- Unbuffed: Out of combat, buff food active
- Buffed: Raid Target Dummy buffs, buff food, Spell Power Potion, Weapon Damage Enchantment active.
Gear – Magicka Templar Build
You will find 3 different setups here. Setup 1 is the preferred setup. Players who do not have all the gear yet can use Setup 2 which is easier to obtain and beginners can use Setup 3.
- Setup 1 is the primary Gear setup
- Setup 2 is without Trial Gear
- Setup 3 is for Beginners
Gear Setup 1
- Whorl of Depths gives us access to the powerful Minor Slayer buff, increasing damage against monsters by 5%. Additionally, it also deals massive single-target and AOE damage.
- Tide-Born Wildstalker increases direct damage by a lot.
- Velothi Ur-Mage’s Amulet is a Mythic item that gives us an incredible damage boost, but reduces our light and heavy attack damage, which is a small tradeoff!
- Crushing Wall is slotted on the backbar to boost the damage of our Unstable Blockade.
- Slimecraw is only here for the one piece that gives us an extra crit bonus.
- No Mythic? If you don’t have access to the Mythic item, replace the Mythic and the Slimecraw piece with 2x Maw of the Infernal Monster set.

The beginner setup for the ESO Templar Build is made for players that just started out, you can join a guild and ask someone to craft you Law of Julianos and Magnus’ Gift. Willpower can be bought in Guildstores for very little money.

Skills
The skill setup for the Magicka Templar Build is very focused on maximizing your damage in your group. If you have sustained issues, deactivate the banner skill for a while.
Shocking Banner: This is a scribing skill. View our Ultimate Scribing Guide if you haven’t unlocked this yet. If you don’t have the skill yet, place Restoring Focus on the frontbar and Resolving Vigor on the backbar.

Skills explanation:
- Blazing Spear: Powerful single-target and area-of-effect damage over time effect.
- Radiant Oppression: Your execution ability. I recommend starting to use it at 25-33% of the boss’s HP.
- Puncturing Sweeps: This is your spammable. Deals high single-target and AoE damage and also heals you at the same time. Also procs Burning Light passive.
- Scalding Rune: Strong, stationary damage over time skill.
- Shocking Banner: Boosts direct damage, grants Minor Heroism, and increases Weap/Spell Damage.
- Flawless Dawnbreaker: This ultimate can be used for AoE (area of effect) encounters. For single target, we use the other ultimate on the back bar.
- Unstable Wall of Elements: A powerful single-target and area-of-effect damage ability. Also procs our back bar enchantment even when we are on the front bar.
- Vampire’s Bane: Strong damage over time effect.
- Solar Barrage: Strong single-target and area-of-effect damage ability. Also applies the Empower buff to you, increasing light and heavy attack damage.
- Ritual of Retribution: Deals AOE damage in a big radius.
- Shooting Star: We use this ultimate for trash packs, deals great AoE damage, and also returns ultimate per enemy it.

Important Info for Magicka Templar Build PvE
In this section of the Magicka Templar Build we are going to take a look at buff-food, mundus stone, race, potions, passives and attributes. These things are very important for the Magicka Templar Build as they help with damage and sustain.
Buff-food
You can use several good buff foods for this Magicka Templar Build in ESO. As a base we are using the Ghastly Eye Bowl if you want the highest max magicka and magicka recovery boost. If you want more health in combination with max magicka and magicka recovery then you could also use Clockwork Citrus Filet or the much cheaper version Witchmother’s Potent Brew. Mundus Stone

Resource Management – Magicka Templar Build
Energy Orb will always be present in a good group. When you get close to the Orb you can activate its synergy to regain resources.
Potions should always be used on cooldown to gain the maximum benefit from them.
Heavy Attacks help you restore Magicka, if you drop low on resources do a few Heavy Attacks between skills to refill your Magicka.

Rotation for the Magicka Templar Build
Here is a quick explanation of what you have to do with all the skills on your bar for the Mackicka Templar Build:
- Toggle the Shocking Banner on before the fight starts to benefit from the buffs already.
- Your main spammable is Puncturing Sweeps.
- At 25% Boss HP, use the Radiant Oppression execute instead of Puncturing Sweeps.
- Reapply DoTs (damage over time) after they run out: Blazing Spear, Scalding Rune, Unstable Wall of Elements, Vampire’s Bane, Solar Barrage, Ritual of Retribution.
- Always light attack between each ability.
- Use the Shooting Star ultimate whenever it is ready.
- Use Potions and Synergies on cooldown if possible.
