How to Unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior in Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Detailed Guide

Now we are going to show you step-by-step how to unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

In Dragon’s Wake

The first quest we will need to complete is “In Dragon’s Wake” in a small town called Melve. This is part of the main quest line, not too far into the game, so if you’re new then just keep playing and you will encounter it soon enough.

Here, the Arisen will have a dream when entering Melve for the first time and wake up to guards looking for the Arisen. Gregor’ll ask you to accompany him to the capital, Vernworth.  When you are ready, agree to depart with Gregor at the gate of Melve.

Beginning this quest will allow you to pass through the gates that are closed until this point. You’ll need to escort Gregor and a couple of his guards down the roads until you encounter a cyclops boss. The cyclops has quite a lot of HP but is nevertheless a fairly easy boss because his attacks are very slow and you outnumber him greatly – the NPCs will generally distract him so he doesn’t target you much. Make sure to avoid the attacks from his huge club, especially the overhead heavy attack. Fire damage will enrage the cyclops and cause him to enter a frenzy, so avoid using any fire spells if you’re a Mage or a Thief. If you are a ranged class, keep your distance as much as possible; if you’re melee then try to attack from behind so you stay clear of most of the cyclops’ attacks. Some classes allow you to jump up and grab onto the cyclops and continuously stab him (make sure to jump off before you completely deplete your stamina).

After defeating this cyclops, you will receive an item, Missive to the Captain, granting you an audience with the captain in Vernworth.  If Gregor dies during the fight, you can alternatively approach the town from the back side to gain access to advance the quest.

Using the Ox Cart will save a lot of time on this quest. Once you are aboard the Ox Cart, you can pass the time and potentially fight an ambush. If you choose to walk to Vernworth without using the ox cart, we recommend sticking to the main road as there are some dangerous enemies off the path that you might not be ready for yet, including a dragon. There is a campfire you can use about halfway there, which might be useful if night falls (more dangerous enemies come out at night and it’s hard to see where you’re going – it’s up to you if you want to risk it or not).

Now that you have arrived at the capital, you will automatically speak with Brant and complete the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest. Once completed, we will now be able to take the second quest needed to unlock Advanced Vocations.

Vocation Frustration Quest – Unlocking Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations in DD2

The second quest to unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior in DD2 is called Vocation Frustration.

Completing the “Vocation Frustration quest will unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior Vocations for the Arisen and Pawns.  The quest begins with Klaus at the Vernworth Vocation Guild and requires the Arisen to obtain an Archistaff and Greatsword from Trevo Mine.

This quest can be started immediately after speaking with Brant.  Travel to the Vocation Guild noted on the map below to find the Warrior and Sorcerer unlock quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You might accidentally speak to the nearby innkeeper – the Vocation Guild is in the adjacent building.

Where to Find the Sorcerer and Warrior Unlock Quest in DD2

Klaus will ask to retrieve an Archistaff and Greatsword from Trevo Mine, west of the capital. There will be a sizeable cave with chests at the end in separate rooms containing the Archistaff and greatsword. This quest is pretty easy as we will only encounter simple goblins in the cave, but still make sure your party is rested and healthy before beginning.

To reach Trevo Mine, leave the city via the western bridge, follow the road to the west until it forks, and then take the northern road for a little while. A short distance later you can follow a small trail to the west that leads directly to the mine. Head inside to proceed with the quest.

Once inside the cave, activate your lantern so you can see where you’re going. Follow the narrow passages within the mine, clearing the goblins that get in your way. When you reach a fork, turn right if you want to go straight to the area where the weapons are found. You will reach an open area with several goblins hanging out there – defeat them and open the chest to find the Greatsword. Next, take the northern path and you will quickly enter another open area with another large group of goblins. Defeat them all and look for a pile of bones with a torch in the middle. There is a small opening in the wall here, walk through it and follow the small narrow passage. A short distance later, you will find the Archistaff. Once these are both collected we can return to the Vocation Guild in Vernworth to complete the quest and unlock the Sorcerer and Warrior Vocations.

After these are turned in to Klaus you will complete the Vocation Frustration quest and unlock the DD2 Sorcerer and Warrior Advanced Vocation Classes.  You will now be free to switch to the Sorcerer Vocation and Warrior Vocation freely for the Arisen and your pawns.
