What Weapons does Throne and Liberty have at launch? Throne and Liberty Weapons

Today we are going to take a look at all the Throne and Liberty Weapons that are currently available. Throne and Liberty is currently available in South Korea, but there is no global release date yet. However, the game is expected to be released internationally sometime in 2024.

Throne and Liberty’s whole combat is based on weapons. Throne and Liberty doesn’t have a class system. Instead, all of your abilities and passives are determined by which weapons you have equipped. Players can change their equipped weapon types at will, effectively changing their “class” whenever they want. This allows you to mix and match abilities and passives more freely than in most other MMORPG titles.

Your Throne and Liberty build can have two weapons equipped at the same time, one on the front bar and one on the back bar. You can swap between the two weapons seamlessly during combat. This will allow you to be more flexible during combat.

For example, you can decide to use Sword and Shield as your defensive weapon and a Two-Hander as your offensive weapon. Or You could pick Dual Wield as your single target and Two Hander as your area of effect weapon.

Throne and Liberty Weapon Types

Throne and Liberty has a wide array of weapons to choose from. Let us take a look at all the Throne and Liberty Weapons:

Of course, each weapon type has plenty of different weapons that you can farm from newbie to endgame weapons.

Longbow

Throne and Liberty players can use the Longbow weapon type. Like most MMOs, the bow is a ranged weapon and uses fast attacks to damage the enemy.

The Longbow in Throne & Liberty is primarily a DPS weapon, used to hit enemies from afar. The Bow can inflict the Bind debuff on enemies, causing them to take increased damage from some abilities.

While primarily a single-target weapon, the Longbow has some AOE potential and also has some healing and support abilities – players with a Longbow can use the Nature’s Blessing ability to grant allies in an AOE extra health and mana regeneration, and they can also use Purifying Touch to cure debuffs from allies.

Longbows are great for sniping distant foes – you receive a bonus to your damage when hitting enemies from long range. Players wielding this weapon can also place a Deadly Marker on an enemy, granting you extra critical chance when attacking them.

The Longbow is also a useful weapon in PvP, as it allows you to snipe unsuspecting players from afar. In this scenario though it is generally wise to pair the Longbow with a melee weapon, as it is very likely that you will be forced into melee combat in PvP, no matter how hard you try to stay at long range.

Crossbow

Throne and Liberty players can use the Crossbow as an alternative to the Longbow (or you can pair them together). Also a long-ranged weapon, the Crossbow places more emphasis on outmanoeuvring enemies with high movement speed and overwhelming their defences with rapid barrages of ranged attacks.

Crossbow players are rewarded for using Movement Skills (abilities that cause your character to move faster or rapidly jump to a new location), using these skills will grant you extra critical damage. The Crossbow also allows you to inflict an Weakening debuff that reduces the movement speed of your enemies, something that comes especially useful in PvP – you can kite your enemies, receiving a damage bonus for staying at long-range, while unleashing rapid ranged attacks on enemies and making it difficult for them to close into melee range with you.

Some of the Crossbow’s abilities are quite flashy, to the point where it is difficult to see your character, as seen in the screenshot below.

Longsword

The Longsword in Throne and Liberty is of course a very long sword that can be used for melee attacks. Players who enjoy a melee-focused “brawler” playstyle will probably find themselves using this weapon more than any other.

The Longsword offers players abilities like Valiant Brawl that can quickly deal damage to multiple enemies at a time in melee range, as well as powerful single-target abilities like Ascension Slash. Stunning Blow, Death Blow and Ascension Slash are three Longsword abilities that can be combined to form mighty combos for devastating single-target damage output.

While it is primarily a DPS weapon, the Longsword also has some value for tanks due to its passives that improve your HP and damage mitigation.

Players with the Longsword equipped can use Iron Point Parry to parry attacks from enemies and follow up with a counter-attack. You can see this two-staged process in the images below.

Timing is an important factor here – Throne & Liberty’s UI features a purple circle that gradually fills up when an enemy is preparing a powerful attack – to perform a perfect parry players will need to time it at the exact moment that the purple circle becomes full. Each weapon in Throne & Liberty has its own version of parrying, some weapons allow you to perform a block, and others give you a dodge.

Daggers

Another weapon type that you can use in Throne and Liberty is the Daggers. These are dual-wielded and can be paired with the Crossbow to make a classic “assassin” archetype, although other pairings also work.

In fact, the Daggers are arguably the best weapon in the game for pairing with any other weapon. The passives that come with the Daggers offer excellent bonuses to your critical chance and critical damage, so pairing daggers with another weapon of your choice is a great way of enhancing your DPS with any weapon you like.

Players with daggers equipped may also periodically conceal themselves, preventing them from being directly targeted by attacks. You can also use the Inject Venom ability to poison enemies, and abilities like Brutal Incision and Predatory Strike offer excellent single-target damage.

If any weapon in Throne & Liberty can be considered “OP”, then the Daggers certainly seem to be that weapon at the moment. Time will tell if this state of affairs will continue or if they will eventually be nerfed.

Below we can see a player swap from their one hand & shield weapon to daggers, and then use Shadow Strike to teleport to and strike an enemy from behind.

Below we can see another player using Black Wind Spirit, the only AOE dagger ability. This ability also deals extra damage to enemies you have afflicted with poison.

Sword and Shield

The Sword and Shield weapon type in Throne and Liberty is normally used as the primary weapon of tanks, however, it can also deal some damage albeit not as much as damage-focused melee weapons like the Longsword and Daggers. Sword and Shield is primarily a defensive weapon, but it is also used to crowd control the enemy by stunning, rooting or pushing enemies back like in the image below.

The Sword and Shield comes with the Provoking Roar ability, which taunts enemies (forces them to attack you for a few seconds). This is essential for tanking in PvE content, and every tank will want to have this equipped.

Staff

The Staff weapon type allows you to wield an array of fire, ice and lightning spells. This is without a doubt the best weapon in the game for AOE damage, and is especially well-suited to PvE due to its ability to take out many enemies at once. This also makes it ideal for farming gold, XP or items from enemies – you can go to an area with many enemies (such as public dungeons), aggro as many enemies as you are comfortable dealing with, and then decimate them with your AOE magic.

The mechanics of the Staff weapon are centred around the Burning debuff – spells like Serial Fire Bombs can cause enemies to start Burning (up to 10 stacks of Burning at once), dealing damage over time. Other spells then receive a damage bonus when used against Burning targets, such as Chain Lightning which gets 9% bonus damage per Burning stack (up to 90% bonus damage for all 10 stacks of Burning!).

Some of the magical spells from your staff also interact with the environment – in wet conditions your Lightning spells are more deadly and can jump to more enemies.

The Staff doesn’t just turn you into a glass cannon, though – you also have some crowd control ability, as your ice spells like Icebound Tomb can freeze your attackers solid, offering you some much-needed crowd control for solo or PvP situations.

Below you can see Mystic Shield in action. This is the Staff’s defensive ability (similar to the Longsword’s Iron Point Parry). When correctly timed, it allows you to protect yourself with a magical shield that also restores some of your Mana. You then follow up with a lightning counterattack.

Wand and Tome

The Wand & Tome weapon type in Throne and Liberty is a versatile weapon that has something to offer to all roles. It is primarily a support weapon, coming with many heals, buffs and debuffs that make it essential for Healers and a valid option for more advanced tank players who want to do more than just taunt, crowd control and block.

Magic-focused DPS players can also find some handy options in the Wand & Tome’s arsenal though. You can Curse enemies, dealing damage over time, and then optionally use Curse Explosion to convert the Curses into an instant burst of damage.

Will Throne and Liberty get more Weapons after launch?

Throne and Liberty (Project TL) is an MMO and therefore it is very likely that more Weapon types will follow after the global release if the game is a commercial success. However, if the game flops then development might get stopped. Even if the game’s player count doesn’t skyrocket, it will likely get some new content over at least a few years after launch.
