Welcome to the Dagger and Crossbow PvP Build for Throne & Liberty. The Dagger and Crossbow is a formidable weapon combination, allowing you to deal fast-paced attacks at both short and long distances, boasting high critical chance and critical damage thanks to the synergy between the Poison effect and Passive Skills of the Dagger weapon.

In this build we will make use of these features to craft a powerful PvP build that will be perfect for Conflict Events in Throne & Liberty.

If you were looking for a PvE Dagger and Crossbow build instead, we have a guide for that too.

Dagger Crossbow PvP Build Basics

Weapons Overview

Mainhand: Daggers – The Daggers can deal decent damage in their own right, but what makes them so useful is their ability to grant you extra Critical Chance and Damage from the Inject Venom skill, along with several of its Passive Skills. We will look into this in more detail later in the guide, explaining why this synergy works so well.

Offhand: Crossbow – The Crossbow is a versatile ranged weapon in Throne & Liberty. It is capable of attacking rapidly from long range, adding both damage and flexibility to your build.

Stat Allocation

An important aspect of any build in Throne & Liberty is allocating points between the four stats. For this build, we recommend prioritizing Dexterity as this will improve your ability to deal damage with Critical Hits, making Dexterity an ideal fit for the build.

We recommend a stat distribution similar to the following (but it’s okay if yours is a little different):

  • 10 Strength
  • 30 Dexterity
  • 10 Wisdom
  • 35 Perception

Note that you can put some points in Strength for more HP if you feel too squishy, but this will result in somewhat less damage potential than putting all points in Dexterity and Perception.

Dagger Crossbow PvP Build Details

In this section we will explain the details of the Dagger and Crossbow PvP Build, including the best skills and equipment, and how to proceed with your Weapon Mastery tree.

Defence Skill

You can slot one defensive skill in Throne & Liberty. Every weapon in the game has one Defence Skill associated with it, so you can choose between the following two options for this PvP build:

We recommend choosing Ambush Stance for this PvP Build. This is an especially useful skill for PvP, as it allows you to turn invisible temporarily. Attacking while invisible will guarantee a Critical Hit, but cause you to be visible again.

Active Skills

The most noticeable part of your build, Active Skills are all other skills that are activated by pressing a button on your keyboard. You can choose any skills from your two equipped weapons, and you may equip 12 of them at any given time.

For this Crossbow & Dagger PvP Build, we recommend making use of the following skills:

Dagger Skills

  • Predatory Strike – Has a short cooldown and deals fairly high damage, making this a great “bread and butter” skill for the build.
  • Shadow Strike – Teleport behind the target and hit them. Good for mobility and can Poison the target too.
  • Inject Venom – Infuse all your attacks with Poison. Poison deals damage over time and prevents health regen, and can be stacked up to 20 times per target.
  • Ankle Strike – Deals damage and can knock targets Prone if they are already Crowd Controlled.
  • Camouflage Cloak – Turn invisible. The first attack you make while invisible will be a guaranteed Critical Hit, but will cause you to be visible again. Very useful skill for escaping from danger or for surprising an enemy player.
  • Brutal Incision – Deals heavy damage but has a fairly long cooldown. More likely to crit when used against an enemy with less than half of their health remaining. Good for finishing off a wounded enemy before they have a chance to recover.
  • Knife Throwing – Throw five daggers in the targeted direction. An enemy hit by one of the daggers will take some damage and have their movement speed and health regen debuffed.
  • Frenzied Sword Dance – Attack seven times in quick succession. If there is more than one enemy nearby, the attacks will be distributed between the enemies. If there is only one enemy, then this can deal serious single target damage. Has a very long cooldown.

Crossbow Skills

  • Wind Snatcher – Deals damage, slows down the enemy while speeding you up. Hitting an enemy who already has their Move Speed reduced by you will instead decrease the enemy’s attack speed while increasing yours. This is a great skill for kiting a foe, particularly against melee heavy hitters who lack mobility (such as someone with a Greatsword build).
  • Selfless Diffusion – Cures all Bind and Move Speed debuffs from you. Allows you to move through other targets and greatly increases your Movement Speed. Another great mobility skill that can allow you to outrun a pursuer or escape from a nasty situation.
  • Quick Fire – Fires three bolts, with increased Critical Chance against Weakened targets. Short cooldown, so you can use this as a ranged version of Predatory Strike when needed.
  • Mortal Mark – Deals damage and marks the target for 3 seconds. When the mark expires it will explode, dealing 20% of the damage taken by the target during the 3 seconds as bonus damage. Try to use this skill alongside your most damaging skills for maximum burst damage.

Passive Skills

Passive Skills are not manually activated, but instead provide a passive bonus that is either active constantly, or triggers under certain conditions. These can be used to create further synergy between your weapons and Active Skills, since passives from both of your equipped weapons will remain active at all times, regardless of which weapon your character is currently holding. You can equip eight passive skills at a time. We recommend going with the following options:

Dagger Passives

  • Assassin’s Instincts – A simple but vital passive that buffs your Critical Chance with all attacks.
  • Vicious Fangs – Further buffs your Critical Chance against enemies you poisoned. Make sure to keep using the Inject Venom skill to benefit from this.
  • Shadow Walker – You are more likely to evade attacks after using a mobility skill.
  • Wrathful Edge – Considerably increases your Critical Damage. Makes for an effective combo with Assassin’s Instincts and Vicious Fangs.

Crossbow Passives

  • Ambidexterity – Improves the damage and Critical Chance for your offhand weapon (Crossbow)
  • Detection – Chance to gain evasion and move speed when you are attacked.
  • Nature’s Power – You deal more damage after using a mobility skill.
  • Piercing Strike – You gain extra bonus damage

Equipment

Equipment is a vital part of any build in Throne & Liberty. In this section we will list the ideal equipment for the build, along with the optimal traits. Don’t worry if you can’t get all of the optimal traits – this is a very time-consuming process that can take weeks or even months to completely accomplish. Just make do with what you have for now, and if you like the build then you can gradually start working towards perfecting the traits.

Weapons

The recommended weapons for the Dagger Crossbow PvP build are shown below, along with the optimal traits for the build. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the optimal traits – getting them can be a time-consuming process and the build will still work fine if you’re missing some of them.

You can click on the weapons in the table to find out more information about them, including where you can obtain them.

Item Slot Item Name Optimal Traits
Mainhand (Daggers) Lequirus’ Thorny Edge Melee Hit, Melee Critical Hit, Melee Heavy Attack Chance
Offhand (Crossbow) Rex Chimaerus’ Rake Bow Ranged Hit, Ranged Critical Hit, Ranged Heavy Attack Chance

Armour and Accessories

We are making use of the Death set in this build. This is an item set that grants additional bonuses depending on how many items from the set you have equipped:

  • 2 items – 21% Critical Damage
  • 4 items – 10% Attack Speed

With the high focus of the Dagger and Crossbow weapons on Critical Damage and Attack Speed respectively, this makes the Death Set an obvious choice and a perfect fit for our build. You can click on the items in the table below to learn more about them, including where you can obtain them from.

Item Slot Item Name Optimal Traits
Head Ghost Wolf Alter Ego Mask Ranged Evasion, Magic Evasion, Cooldown Speed

Weapon Mastery

Each weapon in Throne & Liberty has a Weapon Mastery tree associated with it. You will slowly gain progress in mastering each weapon simply by using the weapon. This allows you to further hone your character’s skills even after reaching Level 50, and representing a type of end-game progression in Throne & Liberty.

Don’t worry if you haven’t progressed enough to unlock everything recommended on the Weapon Mastery tree – the build will still work fine without it. This just makes your character a little bit more powerful.

We recommend completing the following paths for Weapon Mastery:

  • Dagger: Assassination
  • Crossbow: Chain Fire

Dagger Crossbow PvP Build Info and Tips

In the final section of the guide, we will give more specific information about how to create and play the build.

Combos

While many build types have various combos that can be effective in PvP, the Dagger and Crossbow setup is more about sustained pressure with periods of intense burst damage.

You can use skills like Predatory Strike and Quick Fire to keep up some pressure on an enemy player, as these skills have a short cooldown allowing for frequent use. Also try to make use of Inject Venom and other sources of Poison to keep at least one stack of Poison on your target all the time – this will debuff their healing, cause gradual damage over time and improve your Critical chance against them.

Keep an eye on your cooldowns and try to manage them smartly – you want to create an opportunity for bursting down the target’s HP quickly and you need some of your most hard hitting skills to be available at the same time so you can achieve this. Make sure your enemy is poisoned, then use Mortal Mark and Frenzied Sword Dance, followed by Brutal Incision to deal heavy damage to your opponent in a very short window of time, making it hard for your opponent to recover.

Tips & Tricks

As mentioned above, managing your Cooldowns and keeping your foes Poisoned as much as possible are the two most important aspects to playing this build.

However it’s important to note that this setup can be a bit squishy – it has high damage but will likely fare poorly in a drawn-out melee struggle with a heavily armoured opponent using a weapon like the Greatsword. You have high mobility and can turn invisible at will – use these tools to turn the tables in your favour, surprise your foes with devastating damage bursts and keep a skill like Selfless Diffusion in reserve in case things go wrong and you need to escape quickly.
