Welcome to the Maister Skills List for Dragon’s Dogma 2.

In this guide, we will list all Maister Skills for DD2, their effects, and where and how to unlock them.

DD2 Maister Skills List

Below are all of the Maister Skills for each Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The Sorcerer Vocation has two Maister Skills, while all other Vocations have only one.

Skill Name Vocation Maister Description
Riotous Fury Fighter Lennart Rains a flurry of powerful blows on the target, dealing massive damage at great cost to Stamina. Leaves the user vulnerable if the first strike misses.
Heavenly Shot Archer Taliesin Fires an almighty arrow in exchange for consuming all of the user’s Stamina. The arrow’s potency is determined by the user’s remaining Stamina when it is loosed.
Celestial Paean Mage Eini Summons a wave of holy light that hastens both the Stamina recovery and speed of allies who touch it, while reducing damage taken. Consumes all of the caster’s Stamina and knocks them off their feet.
Formless Feint Thief Srail Accelerates the user’s reactions to an ungodly degree, enabling them to evade all manner of attacks from hostile targets. Consumes Stamina while active.
Arc of Might Warrior Beren Channels every ounce of the user’s strength into an almighty blow. Consumes all of the user’s Stamina when activated.
Maelstrom Sorcerer Myrddin Conjusts a whirlwind to wreak havoc upon those caught in its path. Prevents movement while incanting, and is unaffected by Quickspell. Most effective when cast in a cramped space.
Meteoron Sorcerer Trysha Summons a meteor shower, dealing immense damage to targets across a broad range. Prevents movement while incanting, and is unaffected by Quickspell. Most effective when cast in a wide-open space.
Wild Furie Mystic Spearhand Sigurd Unleashes a relentless flurry of slashes and magickal attacks. Additional button presses continue the onslaught by consuming Stamina.
Martyr’s Bolt Magick Archer Cliodhna Fires the ultimate magickal bolt in exchange for a temporary decrease to the user’s maximum Health. The reduced amount determines the bolt’s potency. The loss gauge accumulates while charging.
Dragon’s Delusion Trickster Luz Creates an illusory dragon that cannot directly deal damage, but instills hostile targets with fear and even causes them to trip or flee.
Rearmament Warfarer Lamond Instantly switches to a different weapon on the user’s person. Select the type of weapons and the order in which they are equipped in the Equipment menu.

How to Unlock All Maister Skills in DD2

Below is a short guide on how to unlock each of the Maister’s Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Please note that there are some story spoilers here.

Riotous Fury (Fighter)

To unlock Riotous Fury, you need to impress Lennart enough for him to think you’re worthy of his teachings. The normal way to do this is to progress the main story until the Readvent of Calamity quest and help him and Sigurd defend Melve against the dragon attack. Once that is done, continue the quest and help out the village of Melve. After doing this enough, Lennart will like you enough and teach you the Riotous Fury skill.

If something goes wrong with the Readvant of Calamity quest, you can increase Lennart’s opinion of you by giving him a gift every day for a few days. Ore and monster parts are gifts that he generally likes. After doing this for a while, his opinion of you should increase enough to unlock the skill.

Heavenly Shot (Archer)

Pick up the Gift of the Bow quest in Vernworth, and progress it onto the next quest, Trial of Archery. During this quest you will meet Taliesin, the Archer Maister. Speak with him again after completing the quest, and he will teach you the skill.

If he doesn’t like you enough for some reason after finishing the quest, you can give him gifts to improve his opinion. Flowers seem to work best for Taliesin.

Celestial Paean (Mage)

After completing the Spellbound and Sorcerer’s Appraisal quests (explained below for the Sorcerer Maister Skills), speak to Eini to learn the Celestial Paean Maister Skill.

Formless Feint (Thief)

Visit the Nameless Village in eastern Vermund. Captain Brant will give you a quest to visit this location fairly early in the main story.

Once there, you will encounter a shady character claiming to be the Thief Maister, and he will give you a skill called Blades of Pyre, which causes damage to you when you use it. This is a fake maister skill from a fake maister, and the idea is that the player has to figure this out and then find the real maister.

Just outside the building where the fake maister is located, there is a ladder that leads to the Nameless Village Depths. You’ll need to navigate through an obstacle course, and at the end you can find Srail, the real Thief Maister. Talk to him to unlock the Thief Maister Skill.

Arc of Might (Warrior)

At night, north of Melve, you can find the Warrior Maister, Beren, camping in a field of glowing blue flowers. Speak with him to start the Warrior questline that eventually leads to you unlocking the Maister Skill.

He’ll task you with finding some better weapons and an apprentice from Vernworth. Buy any three swords and wander the streets for a while, and you’ll be approached by the apprentice. After completing this quest, the questline progresses onto Beren’s Final Lesson.

During this quest, Beren will tell you that he is leaving back for his home. You’ll later be able to find him at his childhood home to the south of Checkpoint Rest, just beyond the Battahl border. After finding him there, he will finally each you the Arc of Might skill.

Maelstrom & Meteoron (Sorcerer)

These quests are related in the sense that if you’re not careful, you will only be able to get one of these skills, however it is possible to get both if you play things correctly.

First, you need to start the two separate quests. Find Myrddin in Checkpoint Rest. Dress in the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Breeches you got for Disa’s masquerade ball to get him to talk to you. He’ll give you a list of five grimoires to find for him.

Next, find Trysha in a small settlement on the northern edge of the map. She lives with Eini, the Mage Maister. Trysha will give you another quest to find the same five grimoires that Myrddin wants. Each one of these quests rewards you with one of the two Sorcerer Maister Skills. But since they both want the same books, how can we complete both quests?

The trick is to collect the books, then go to Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop in Checkpoint Rest. He can make forgeries of the books for 6,000 gold each, and each forgery takes one day to complete, so you will have to kill a lot of time either by exploring while you wait for them to complete, or just passing time at an Inn.

Once you have the forgeries of all five books, go to Myrddin and give him the forged versions. He is just looking to complete his book collection, so he doesn’t notice that they are forged copies. He will then be willing to teach you the Maelstrom skill.

Finally, head back to Trysha and give her the genuine books. Unlike Myrddin, she will notice if you try to give her forged copies and this won’t go down very well. She’ll then teach you the Meteoron Skill.

After helping out Trysha with this quest, her grandmother Eini will also be willing to teach you the Celestial Paean skill for the Mage vocation.

Wild Furie (Mystic Spearhand)

You’ll first encounter Sigurd during the Readvent of Calamity quest mentioned earlier for the Fighter skill. Talk to him after helping him and Lennart defend Melve from the dragon. He might be willing to teach you the Wild Furie skill on the spot, but if not you’ll need to find him again at Dragonbreath Tower, where he goes in pursuit of the dragon. Help him with the fight and he will teach you the skill if he didn’t already.

Martyr’s Bolt (Magick Archer)

Just after entering the Volcanic Island area, you will encounter a dwarf on the road with a bad back. Speak to him to get the Put a Spring in Thy Step quest. Progress and complete this quest, and you will meet Cliodhna, who turns out to be the dwarf’s wife.

After helping her husband as much as you can, she will be happy to teach you the Magick Archer Vocation. Speak to her again and she will also teach you the Mastery Skill right away.

Dragon’s Delusion (Trickster)

After visiting the illusory version of Luz to unlock the Trickster Vocation, you just need to find her true form to impress her enough to get the Dragon’s Delusion skill.

Walk around to the left side of her temple and take the ladder up to the roof, then head to the front of the building. Once you are there, the real version of Luz will appear and tell you how she is impressed that you were able to find her. She then teaches you the Mastery Skill.

Rearmament (Warfarer)

Unlike other Mastery Skills, Rearmament is an integral part of the Warfarer Vocation which does not function correctly without it. It is intended that you unlock Rearmament at the same time as the Vocation itself.

Speak to Lamond in the Volcanic Island Town hot springs to get the Sotted Sage quest. Finish the quest and he will give you the Warfarer Vocation. If he doesn’t immediately give you the Rearmament skill, then speak to him again and you should get it.
